**Contact us now to book some quiet time on Hornby this fall. Two nights minimum at $150 per night. Perfect for a Fri-Sat night weekend get-away. Check our calendar below.**
Welcome to our home situated high on the cliff-top above legendary Tribune Bay, Hornby Island. Our property offers a true get-away with its quiet location and natural setting of salal, firs and arbutus trees.
Our home is contemporary with floor to ceiling windows, allowing for full appreciation of the location. To the rear is the natural forest and to the front, the ocean. Our neighbors are far enough away to be barely noticeable. Eagles fly by at eye-height. Deer commonly graze nearby. In summer, relax and dine on the large deck. In winter, cuddle up next to the wood stove. Enjoy the spectacular views to the southwest across Tribune Bay to the mountains of Vancouver Island.
Our home works well for 1-3 couples or for families with older children. Unfortunately it is not suitable for families with young children due to the presence of the high cliff. We do not allow smoking or pets anywhere on the property.
There is a queen bed in the master bedroom on the main floor, and another queen bed and two twin beds in the spacious loft that overlooks the kitchen, dining and living room.
Hornby Island is renowned for its fabulous beaches and parks. Tribune Bay Provincial Park (a few minutes drive or bike ride from the house) boasts a sweeping crescent sand beach and warm safe swimming waters. Helliwell Provincial Park (a 10-15 minute walk along the cliff-top trail) offers extensive walking trails through a gary oak grove, across flower-strewn bluffs, and sculpted sandstone shoreline. Whaler’s Bay offers another fine sand beach. There are numerous other locations offering public access to the waterfront on Hornby.
The island has an extensive system of trails for mountain-biking, hiking, and horse-back riding. Local businesses rent kayaks, mountain bikes, horses, and scuba diving equipment. Many also run tours. There are several cafes, restaurants, artist studios and wineries to visit.
In summer high-season, rentals are by the week and run from Sunday to Sunday. In the low-season, rentals are by the night with a two night minimum.

About The Owner
My husband and I do a lot of hiking, climbing, skiing and kayaking. We love being active and out-of-doors, and have done many back-country trips in the north: Nunavut, NWT, Yukon, Alaska, and Iceland. We bought our house on Hornby to enjoy local get-aways in spring and fall. We wanted to enjoy the quintessential Gulf Islands experience.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
Why The Owner chose Bowser
We fell in love with our property because of the generous woods all around and the amazing sweeping views of Tribune Bay and Vancouver Island. It's a joy to watch the changing nature of the ocean and the snows on Mt. Arrowsmith. We enjoy a lot of privacy and yet, with no fences between the lots, we are free to walk all along the cliff-top. It's like living in a big park! We also fell in love with the house... its high vaulted ceiling and large windows to embrace the setting.

I’ve been meaning to write and say thank you for a wonderful stay on Hornby Island! We loved your home and had a great week on Hornby. We biked all over the island and hiked several times into the provincial park and really enjoyed the water and beach at Tribune Bay. Coffee in the morning and wine in the evening on the deck were great highlights as the view was stunning! We certainly hope to return another June soon.
