Artista Casita in Santa Fe

Exactly what you are looking for in Santa Fe - Plaza close location, fresh air atmosphere and artistic ambience! Be completely relaxed in your own lovely two-story condo in a quiet neighborhood just four blocks north of the Plaza. Inside you will enjoy stretching out in the approximately 1200 square feet featuring Viga ceilings, a Kiva fireplace and tile floors. Enjoy the spacious views and cobalt sky from your large patio with dining for four under the umbrella or cozy cocktails under the portal.

The main level of the house is upstairs with the Queen size master bedroom and private full bath and two walk in closets. Snuggle up in bed and watch the flat panel LCD TV with DVD while enjoying a fire in the remote controlled electric fireplace. This bedroom also has an adorable private courtyard just outside the French doors perfect for coffee and muffins in the morning sun and a BBQ at sunset. The kitchen is fully equipped. After a walk around the Plaza come home to your living room with Kiva fireplace, TV with VCR and open floor plan that is perfect for a get together with friends inside and out onto your patio. Downstairs is the second bedroom with a Queen bed & private full bath and walk in closet (also LCD TV, and VCR).

Park the car and walk! In addition to all the shops, galleries, museums and entertainment you are also only a few blocks from an indoor pool and gym at the Ft Marcy complex. Stroll over to the Plaza for fabulous dining, or walk to a movie. You are only five minutes walking distance to a full grocery store!

Extra amenities for your comfort include radiant floor heating, art books, art supplies and an easel for artistic pursuits of your own! You will be right in the middle of the excitement and charm of Santa Fe at the Artista Casita!

About The Owner

I am an artist and my husband is an engineer who loves to golf! We live in San Diego where I teach art classes at my studio and at the Art Institute of California/San Diego and Brian is a program manager in the design engineering industry. We have two beautiful girls, our good natured golden retrievers. We both love music and met swing dancing, which we also enjoy when we are in Santa Fe, where there is a lively dance community!

The Owner purchased this condo in 2006
Why The Owner chose Santa Fe

For my 40th birthday we took a vacation to Santa Fe, and we both fell in love with it. I started coming back to Santa Fe after that to teach painting workshops every summer. The first time I came here I knew it was someplace special! The artistic community, fantastic restaurants, culture, shopping, people, architecture and music in the Plaza, it was a full sensory experience! In 2006 my husband and I decided to purchase a condo for our own use and as a future retirement home. Now I teach here in the summer and every other week I paint in the studio I make in the garage. You will see many of my paintings adorning the walls of the condo, Artista Casita!

What makes this condo unique

Several times a year I try to get out and enjoy Santa Fe and to paint the colorful changes. September and October are my favorite times, with the aspens turning in early October. I love walking on the dirt trails all over our neighborhood and overlooking the city with the mountains all around. July and August are wonderful with the music in the plaza and all the summer foliage going strong, outdoor dining and late summer sunsets. Christmas season is magical with the pinon smoke in the air, festive decorations all around and farolitos glowing at night. Early winter is delightful with the bright blue sky and snow! One year we took a sleigh ride outside of town! Spring in Santa Fe is glorious with the fruit trees blooming and floral scents in the air with all the bulb flowers making their way back from winter. I keep my easel and chair in the garage for any artists to use during their stay. The adobe construction keeps the garage cool in the summer and warm in the winter! Anytime of year is great for long walks around the city admiring the architecture, and going to many of the local spas,10,000 waves and La Posada among my favorite! We loved Santa Fe and the accomodations at this condo made our stay all the better. It is actually better than the photos. Great colorful southwestern decor, well-stocked and comfortable furnishings. The outdoor deck/porch area was a roomy and relaxing space and a nice bonus. The second bedroom is nice but is definitely a guest bedroom compared to the master suite with its large bathroom and small outdoor sitting area. Also, the main living area is immediately up a flight of stairs when you enter the condo, so if stairs are an issue, this is not the place for you. I usually like to mix it up, but would definitely consider staying here again. Here's hoping we'll return soon!

Spent a week at Artista Casita and it is everything that it says it is and more. We would definitely stay there again if we get back to Santa Fe. Very close to the Plaza and shopping center. Tastefully decorated, comfortable and a quiet area of the town.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Romantic Getaway

I stayed here in July, 2009, and absolutely loved it! It is a beautiful condo on a quiet street and within walking distance of the Plaza. It was perfect. Beautiful decor and very comfortable with all the amenities!
