Ben and Karen have been married for 25 years. We have 3 children who love The Rockhouse Cottage in Dahlonega. We enjoy watching our children play in the country. It's so quiet and peaceful.
Karen Malaga purchased this house in 1986
It takes us only 1 hour to get to Dahlonega from Atlanta. We felt the need to get out of the busy city of Atlanta to enjoy the quiet life in the mountains. It reminds us of who we are. It is used as a 2nd home for many weekends for friends and family.
The rocks on the cabin were placed on the wall us. The door to the bedroom was a gift from Joe Daole. It came out of an old church in London over 60 years ago.
This cabin will stay in the family forever.
The people in Dahlonega are so nice. We love going to the Festivals, The Zoo, Horseback riding. Shopping. Visits to the waterfalls. The views. Swimming at the community pool is a lot of fun! We enjoy the time we have to do so many fun things with our family. Just being together is what it's all about. Our favorite thing to do is sit on the swing or bench and talk.
My wife and I enjoyed staying here. The house was as described. There are neighbors nearby but it had the privacy we were looking for. Short drive of five minutes or so into Dahlonega so very convenient to everything. The house has everything you need. All we needed to bring was food. My only complaint was that the jetted tub inside didn't seem to be working for some reason. The owner said he would look into it. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay. A nice relaxing place for a getaway. We didn't bring our kids but there seemed to be plenty of games and a neat set of bunk beds for them to sleep on.
This trip's purpose was to getaway and kindle with the love of my life. It was a successful trip. The cottage is private and peaceful, and extremely quiet even with neighbors close by. We made dinner at the cottage, utilizing the grill and the kitchen that is well equippedWe have added this cottage to our list of places to return to in the future.e have added this cottage to our list of places to return to in the future.for a small sized space. The king size bed is beyond comfortable, we slept well, and enjoyed waking up to the beautiful views out of the many windows. The hot tub on the deck outside the bedroom was perfect and relaxing. The owner provides huge, fluffy towels and warm robes. Our only dislike were the televisions, they definitely need updated. It may not bother some, but with it being our goal to just "hang around" the cottage, it was for for us.
Communication with the owner was easy and they provide several ways to reach them. We communicated with Ben and he was so informative and nice. Thanks Ben!! Directions provided from the owners to the cottage were extremely easy to follow. Check-in and check-out was smooth. We have definitely added this cottage to our list of places to stay in the future.
The cottage feels as if you are far away from everything, yet so close to downtown Dahlonega and gold mines for panning and touring mine shaft. The day we left, we drove over to nearby Helen and Cleveland to spend the day, just 30 minutes away. Also, if you don't feel up to cooking, we discovered that Domino's Pizza delivers to the cottage.
You can not go wrong with this cabin! We read the reviews and saw that there was one negative one (thinking this person is the type that can't be pleased easily). We absolutely had not complaints. The cabin was just what we needed and the owner was more than accommodating to our needs. We look forward to our next stay.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was conveniently located to town. The place was clean, and exactly what we were looking for.
Adorable, private, clean, close to town and my dog loved the long walks in the woods and on the dirt road.
