Great getaway spot, yet close to major mall and large city attractions. Please scroll down further for the photo tour, calendar with available dates, and rates. Thank you!
A near-by 18 hole golf course with restaurant & lounge is within 3 miles of rental is very popular. You are only 15 minutes north of the village of Lexington which is loaded with charm also and has many summer activities for all ages. Add another 15 minutes and you are in Port Huron where you will find all the 'Big City' luxuries you may crave. No matter what your preference, we are sure there is something for everyone in our great little area!
On the lake, close to downtown, and a homey atmosphere provides the best place to spend your vacation!
In-house WiFi is available for portable computer usage!
We have rented this lovely beach front home in every season of the year. The house has three bedrooms which are spacious and great open space between the living/dining/kitchen areas. The property is well maintained and provides a cozy place to relax while watching the freighters go by. The proximity of the stores, restaurants, museum, harbor, and beach is a major plus. Summer time is definitely beach time with blueberry picking thrown in. In the spring we have enjoyed festivals and sea glass hunting. Fall color is gorgeous along the lakeshore and there are apples aplenty. In the winter, the cottage is a great place to curl up with a great book or movie and check out the ice built up along the shoreline. This is truly a four season rental.
Great place to get away from it all. Very clean and relaxing with a wonderful view of Lake Huron. Willis' Market is very close and has everything you need. Uri's Waterfront Dining and Mary's Diner were 2 of our favorite places to eat. We also liked the First Mate Ice Cream Parlor located at the Port Sanilac Marina for dessert! All these places were within walking distance of the cottage. I would definitely recommend staying here.
The listing description of this cottage is accurate regarding the location and layout...but it ends there. Property not clean or well maintained. Overgrown greenery on sidewalk at front door, broken/heaved cement on sidewalk at side of house, railing running across back of property not secure/safe (6 ft drop to beach below into weeds, rock), no railing for steep steps leading down to beach. This is not a safe vacation property for the elderly or those with children. Listed as having A/C in one bedroom...upon arrival..NO A/C. 1 rotating pedestal fan...1 banged up box fan...1 small old rotating fan that we dragged out of the garage...dusty and dirty. Temperatures over 100 degrees that week. Windows did not open (in living room and 1 bedroom). No window coverings at all in 1 bedroom...other bedroom had no covering on window that faces the street. I would NEVER recommend this property to a friend or relative. It has potential to be a great listing...but not as it is now.
Thank you thank you!! We had a wonderful experience renting this house!
From my first contact with Nancy, we knew we made the right choice in this house. The beach is beautiful and the dogs had a great time running and romping in the water. The beach and water is sandy (not at all rocky), but you still might want to bring water shoes if you have sensitive feet. The pictures do not do it justice at all...watching the sun rise on the water is breathtaking!
The house itself is in great shape. The kitchen is much larger than the pictures make it seem, so it was easy for two people to cook together without issue. Everything you'll need is there, down to the cookie sheets if you get a hankering for some midnight chocolate chip cookies. There is a grocery store about a mile away, in case there's anything you've forgotten.
We did not venture out as much as we thought, but we know there are many great local restaurants around the corner and within 15 minutes. Lexington is a short drive south and is home to some nice shops and restaurants their downtown area. If you're looking for activity on the water, there are a ton of listings in the phone book, or simply ask one of the neighbors--they are lovely people!
If you are a wine lover, there is a small vineyard about 10 minutes away that is a must-see! The owners, Connie & Steve, made us feel right at home. When we left we like we had known them for years. We can't wait to visit again and see this great place grow. (Blue Water Winery & Vineyard)
As dog owners, finding the right rental house can be tough. This was a great choice for us!
If there is any negatives I can give it's these... there is not AC in the whole house, but that's pretty common we learned, since the lake breeze is pretty great. The master bedroom has AC, so if you like a cool night's sleep it's perfect.
Also, the yard is not entirely fenced, but if you have a long line you'll have no issue.
We'll definitely be back. :)

Just got back home today from a wonderful week at this Port Sanilac home. Very clean inside, beautiful backyard outside. Loved listening to the waves 24/7. Very peaceful also! We had a family of four and my sister and elderly mother came for a day also. Plenty of room for everyone with easy access. Would love to stay here again.
Geoff and Heather carefully planned our family retreat a year ago and we were blessed that they did! This week has truly been a time that the kids (Evan and Abigail especially) will always want to talk about, and the parents (Geoff, Heather, Greg, and Hannah) and Grandparents (Mary, Thom, and Larry) will proudly display our fun photos!
Forced Family Fun-we called it-but really it was a week loaded with laughter, music, yummy foods, good finds, great walks, beautiful atmosphere and especially - TIME!
This little abode (which was pretty comfortable for 8 adults and 3 wee ones!) made the perfect location for an unforgetable vacation!
If you are looking for a laid-back vacation with all the amenities of home, you have found it. Don't forget the 100 feet of lake-frontage to enjoy too. Winter is beautiful as you watch the many changes the ice in the water brings, relax in front of the fireplace, check out the surrounding areas.
