You are 45 minutes drive from Palm Springs airport, but easy travel from Ontario airport, Los Angeles, or San Diego metro areas. Entrance to Joshua Tree National Park is just two miles away... Our location is known for premier hiking and rock climbing. After a fun filled day, your accommodations feature a natural setting with cozy quilts and California artwork to complement your experience. Bird watching at feeders is a daily experience. Cocktail hour is enjoyed from the patio outside. You can relax in our new hammock with a view or climb the rockscape in the yard. At sunset you will experience a light show that fades to twinkling village lights and the surrounding hills. Local eateries are 10 minutes away or you can use our full service kitchen.

The junction of Interstate 10 and Highway 62 north near Palm Springs brings you to the Mojave desert where you will find Morongo Valley, Yucca Valley, Joshua Tree, 29 Palms, the Marine Base and Joshua Tree National Park. Quail Springs Road takes you up the hill to the 'Highlands' and the west entrance of the national park. Stop by the visitor information station and ask for the park map and seasonal information guide. Park roads provide a scenic tour to 29 Palms or the lower desert. Rangers host walks and interpretive programs on a variety of subjects including, birds, wildflowers, desert tortoise endangered species, trails, star gazing, earthquake faults, early history and native tribes. Tours are available to the historic Desert Queen Ranch. Check your seasonal guide for scheduled dates and time. Visitors will enjoy stargazing on clear nights. See spectacular meteor showers in August.

A drive 'down the hill' thru Morongo Vallley to Desert Hot Springs brings you to more golfing opportunities at Mission Lakes Country Club. It is also semi-private with open guest policy. You can book an early T-time and enjoy your morning on the course. Your return to Desert View in Joshua Tree brings you all the comforts of home in a mountain view setting. Enjoy cocktail hour with spectacular sunsets...a desert breeze cools the early evening.

CLEAR NIGHTS: Stargazing is spectacular from our Highlands property with views of the night sky, Milkyway and constellations...meteor showers are easily seen from your location.

Wonderful winter break in the CA desert

We just returned on Feb. 20 from a delightful stay in the southern CA desert town of Joshua Tree at a place called Desertview. It was just as I knew it would be from the many details given at the HomeAway website: a wonderful spot, secluded, quiet and very well equipped and maintained. With the four of us all good cooks, we ate all our meals there; so, the kitchen was very important, and it was perfect, down to the finest sharp knives and tableware. We were also so pleased that we had all the comforts we could possibly need and many extras, including the proximity to J.T. Nat'l. Park and the many hiking trails there. We especially loved the garden and the many plants and animals that frequent the grounds: the cute Cottontails and Gambel quails entertained us every morning during breakfast. We would definitely return ourselves or recommend it to our traveling friends.
