Notes: Due to the stairwell access to this home by going up 16 feet high in the air, we feel that it would be too difficult for the elderly to access with ease. Also, due to the height of the cottage, we feel children would be at risk without complete adult supervision. We would welcome both, but feel that we need to make this disclosure.

Wonderful!! April 13th - 18th 2009

What a wonderful place to hooneymoon! The house was clean and beautiful. The beach is only 2minute walk and we never saw more than 6 other people on the beach. the beach is spectacular ! We watched whales from the north side for over an hour. Saw sea turtles, snorkled, swam and just relaxed. What an adventure, just what we were looking for. If your like us and like to find your own adventures I highly recommend this spot. The mornings are a amazing chorus of birds. We ventured out daily to all sides of the island and were home by 3 to relax and enjoy. All the amenities we needed, coolers, backpack beach chairs, plenty of towels, outdoor shower, and the excerise pool was great. WE WILL BE BACK !!

Perfect for 2 people inlove

Thanks Linda and Tom! The house was just anything we could have wished for during our honeymoon. Secluded, we had a lot of privacy, and the amenities on site were wonderful. We cooked our own meals most of the time (that BBQ grill was great) and enjoyed them on the nice porch or the surfer's shack. We made good use of the infinity pool and the kayak too. The latter made our trips to the beach (approx 5min away) so much more enjoyable. The beach itself was great, very secluded, often times we found ourselves alone, and usually there were not more than 5-6 other people around. For those into snorkeling, the Moloa'a beach is perfect for that and the gear is available at the house. The fruit stand on Kuhio Hwy as you come from Lihue offers great fruit, veggies and smoothies, and we found a nice organic groceries store in Kapa'a.

We had such a fun and relaxing time at this little house....kayaking down the stream, soaking in the pool. What a surprise to find out that Gilligan's Island was filmed on the beach! The chicken's were even entertaining. Watching the Egrets and Albatroses was a thing of beauty. Mahalo for having such a great place. Cheryl & Bruce

A week is not enough

Chris & Rick Woodland Park, Co.
Review Submitted: April 7, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
This little paradise is just as described. We spent the week after Easter here.
There wasn't much rain over the bay-only a little at night.
There were sea turtles on the beach in the morning. The kayak through the egret sanctuary was a wonderful surprise.
We only walked to the beach once because the trip through the lagoon made it feel like your own little haven. (the beach is not far at all)
It's very lush here and sounds of the ocean, birds, and bullfrogs took all cares away. We spent much of our time in the water at the beach or in the pool (kept at the perfect temperature).
The lanai was perfect for drying out and star gazing at night. When's the last time you saw the Milky Way?

The cottage was spotless. The grounds and pool are well maintained. Everything was there that you could think to use. (a local phone book and map if needed)

This is where you want to go to get away from the hustle and bustle. Its tucked away from the rest of the world - and to us that was the point.
A small suv is recommended (we had a jeep wrangler) to get into that last little stretch. We thought that was fun too.

In general, we took 2 days to drive the island. Kauai is such a beautiful place and we recommend buying a guide so you don't miss anything.

A big MAHALO goes out to Linda and Tom.

Recent Stay

Wiseone Toronto, Canada
Review Submitted: January 17, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2007
We stayed here for a week this past December. The cottage is accurately portrayed in the pictures. The property was clean and well maintained. All amenities listed were available and functional with the exception of the garden which only had a few herbs. The pool was great!
The beach is accessible by the provided kayak which is a little tricky getting in and out of given the mucky shoreline. It is a very easy paddle to the ocean which is beautiful but not safe for swimming during the time that we were there due to the strong current and large waves. It is a peaceful place. There is not much to see or do (except relax!) within walking distance which was difficult given the large, unfriendly off-leash German Shepperd dog up the road which took a nip at us while we were walking on the road past the house.
The owners of the rental were available for any questions and assistance we required prior to arriving and also once we were at the property. The required damage deposit was promptly returned within the stated two weeks.
We would highly recommend a jeep type vehicle or something with high clearance due to the uneven access road. Also, try to get there in day light as it is not an easy place to find in the dark although we did! It took us about 15 mins to drive from the cottage to the main highway from which you can access the rest of the Island. It is easy access to the North Shore area and a good couple of hours to Waimea Canyon.
The Island of Kauai is beautiful, lush and green, a direct result of the frequent rain that it receives. If you are looking for somewhere quiet and off the beaten path, this cottage would be ideal.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the overview of Moloaa Mahina Hale and your positive guest comments. We appreciate the honesty and for taking time in writing your comments. We apologize for the "dog nipping" incident that made your stay less than perfect.. My explanation of the German Shepherd dog is that I have witnessed the dog tied up when walking or driving by since this incident happened. The dog is located approximately 1/4 mile down the dirt road. This was an unusual occurrence as the dog has not been aggressive toward any of the neighbors or guests in the area after several inquiries., We spoke with the owner of the dog who is a renter in the area the day the incident happened. He appeared to be a responsible pet owner and he apologized to us on behalf of our guests . Our concern is for the safety of our guests and we will continue to monitor and observe the actions of this dog.
