Notes: Our solar home gains heat from the sun in the winter, and is cooled naturally in the summer. We provide sweaters and jackets for those who forget how cool it is during the summer at our 8500 foot elevation. We provide such an extensive supply of food staples, that all you need to purchase upon arrival are your meat, produce and dairy. (We have all your spices, condiments, salad dressings, tea, coffee, flour, sugar, oils, vinegars, popcorn.....etc, etc.) . The large wooden playground will rival what you can find in a public park. The basketball court has two baskets and posts to set up nets for volleyball and badminton. There is also tether ball and a tree house. Evenings you can sit around the fire-circle. The property is 3 1/2 acres bordering thousands of acres of National Forest. Due to water shortages in our area, clothes need to be washed at the nearby laundromat during the busy season.

Clean air, brilliant sun: In the summer the 8500 foot elevation means pleasant days and cool nights. Our expansive solar windows take advantage of the sun and clean mountain air. 'Roughing it' never felt so good.

Relaxing recreation

This was the most relaxing vacation we've had in years. The house was great, the kids loved the jungle gym. The treasure hunt was a blast (you have to follow the map and not the trail for real excitement, very cool). It was an awesome vacation, one we will never forget.

We have rented property all over the world (literally) and this property ranks in the very top of our experiences. The location is fantastic for staging to mountain adventures or city excursions. Our hosts, Karen and Bob, went above and beyond to ensure a fantastic time was had by our little group of 11 (ages 2 and up). The home and all facilities are top rate and we have a million memories to savor until next time!
Owner's Response: A thousand thank you's for your comment. We were praying that you would be willing to follow through, Andy, with the comment you made at the beginning of your week. And you did!!! Even with all the challenges of the water system, you gave us the highest compliment. We are so very grateful.

What a wonderful home for a family reunion! Nine of us spent the week for our son's graduation from the Air Force Academy. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. A great place to relax - the outdoor fire pit was a big hit, the site of nightly marshallow roasts and good times. Young and old enjoyed playing on the swing set. The families who came out to share a barbecue with us were envious of our foresight in renting such a wonderful home. All enjoyed sharing with each other around the big dining area table and huge picnic table. The wildlife was a great plus - the deer and birds feeding right outside the back door. Plenty of room for all! We're ready to do it all over again!

OH What a place. We visited in the first week of May 2008. On our arrival we saw Elk just below the house. The background setting of the house is Romantic Setting. I was up most before 05:30 having my coffee everyday. The sun came up over the back hill around 08:00 and it was out all day. So much space in the house. Game's for the kids Galore! Mule Deer just about everyday coming through in the morning, afternoon and evening. Bear just across the street. I have Pictures of it all. The Hiking! Oh the Hiking. This house is located in just the right place. Close to everything! The Treasure Hunt was GREAT! Not going to spoil the fun for ya and tell ya anymore about it. View of Pike's Peak, WOW! Even though we had a few Snow (Sleet)times, we were in our shorts and short sleeves before 10:00 am. I just wanted to say around the house BUT, the beauty of Colorado is amazing. So much to see! Hope everyone who Stay's has a Great Visit like we did. Will visit AGAIN! Thank You Karen and Bob! What a vacation!

My husband, 2 kids (ages 9 & 11) and I had a fabulous time in Oct. at your home! It was also great to be able to accommodate my sister, brother-in-law and 81-year-old father who joined us for the final night of our stay. The kids absolutely LOVED all the extras, especially the treehouse, tetherball and treasure hunt. In fact, the treasure hunt (which Karen & Bob so cleverly devised) was probably the highlight of our stay. And it's no ordinary simple kids'-stuff hunt. It takes about 20 minutes or better of hiking to find the treasure (providing you catch all the subtle clues and don't give up). The kids actually found the cave three separate times (though the adults they drug along were doubtful each time). What fun!
