WHY STAY IN FULHAM?

Fulham is an 'inner 'burb', an upscale, safe neighbourhood just 4 miles (in straight line) from Marble Arch, close enough to enjoy the sights but far enough away for a little quiet time. In the immediate area is a huge park with River Thames-side walks, nice homes, good shops and restaurants.

.Keen WALKERS with enjoy the miles of River Thames towpath ....FOODIES will like walking to the award-winning River Cafe and great local pubs.... SHOPPERS will appreciate easy access - one bus ride - to the brand-new Westfield mall at Shepherds Bush, the biggest in Europe .... in 10 mins FOOTBALL FANS can stroll to Craven Cottage, home of Fulham Premier Division football club....and HISTORY BUFFS can tour nearby Bishops Palace, 16thc former home of the Bishop of London.

I'M ON BUSINESS AND NEED FAST COMMUNICATIONS .... Good news! We have free, fast and unlimited broadband with Wi Fi - max connection speed 76.7 Mbs, max upload speed 20Mbs.

IS IT NEAR HEATHROW? No close but a super-easy journey by Piccadilly Line tube to Hammersmith then quick bus or taxi ride to flat

NEAREST TUBE ? PUTNEY BRIDGE .. 10/12 min pleasant walk from flat .... BUS STOPS 4-8 mins walk from flat ... total door-to-door journey time to Central London 25/60 minutes depending of traffic/crowds.

INSIDE THE FLAT... high ceilings, plenty of light and original features in 900 sq ft/30 sq m. The main bedroom has a Euro king (160cm/60 ins wide) bed, large wardrobe & pretty non-working fireplace. The small bedroom has a single (90cm) bed and French doors onto a small balcony with cafe table and two chairs overlooking tennis courts and park. There is also an inflatable bed for 4th person up to 5ft 2'/158 cm. plus two big sofas.

There's a brand-new flat-screen tv and a VHS (yes, VHS!) player with tape library .

Super- high-speed WI-FI is free!

KITCHEN/DINING ROOM

Our favourite room, as big as many apartments! If you're planning a long stay, especially with kids, size really matters. Table and Conran chairs for six, a Bosch dishwasher, washing machine and dryer plus microwave etc.

CHILD-FRIENDLY ... but not CHILD-PROOF!

We have a young son who has left some toys and books for our tiniest guests... our new boiler means you wont run out of hot water at bathtime!

Well-behaved children are most welcome and of course the park provides a big attraction - but please note the flat isn't child-proofed and guests are responsible for keeping their little ones - and our property - safe from harm.

My husband and I live with our son in Santa Monica CA. This was my batchelor home -now we are happy to be able to share our home and have been lucky to meet some lovely guests.

Julie Clive purchased this condo in 1993

It's in a lovely building, near public transport, parks and the river - a quiet spot but really close to central London

We appreciated a lot our week at London, the apartment was great, located in a fantastic and quiet zone, nearby bus and tube stations, supermakets, coffees and restaurants. The Thames river is 2 min walking and theres a beautifull park for the kids. we had all support we needed by Licia. Thank you.

GREAT TIME IN LONDON

  • 5 of 5
It was our first time in London and were very pleased with the size of the apartment. There were four adults (me, my husband, my daughter and my mom). Mom had her own room and my daughter slept in the living room. She found the sofa comfortable and we didn't even use the inflatable bed. The apartment was fully equipped and we were able to cook a few dinners in the large kitchen.

It's in a lovely neighbourhood and we were glad to explore the area a bit. We did spend most of the time away from the area, as we were there for the sightseeing. We quickly mastered the tube and were able to get wherever we wanted to go. Also a great location for getting back to the airport using the bus and the tube.

Had no problem with the check in and out process. The caretaker was very friendly and helpful.

Thanks for a great stay!

A WINNER!

  • 5 of 5
You won't be disappointed--guaranteed. This charming flat in a classic row of Edwardian 'mansion blocks' is as promised--clean, bright, modern and comfortable--and the photos an accurate reflection of its appearance. My husband and I stayed for 10 days in March and one of our adult daughters joined us for a few of them. The heating worked well (it was chilly in the evenings) and we enjoyed the lovely gas fire in the sitting room. If you like to cook, the kitchen is spacious and well equipped, and there are shops close by for anything you'll need. Walk or ride a 'Boris Bike' (London's shared bikes) along the Thames River Walk up to Hammersmith Bridge or stroll through the close-by Fulham Palace (the former home of the Bishops of London, built during the Tudors) and its gardens. A must-see. The Palace cafe has food, great coffee/tea and free wifi. And Fulham Church at the far end of Bishop's Park, by Putney Bridge, is another interesting slice of London history. For restaurants, of which there are numerous on the Fulham Road, Sapori Sardi (Sardinian) and Sukho Fine Thai are within easy walking distance and highly recommended. As for getting into central London to see the sites, you're well located for buses and the Tube. Buy an Oyster Card and you'll be all set. And if you like to play (or watch) tennis, you're a stone's throw from the courts (the owner has kindly provided rackets and balls). Or if you're football fan, you can choose between Fulham and Chelsea to watch a match. Enjoy your stay!

MARCH 2014

  • 4 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay here. Myself, age 60 and my daughter age 29, found it comfortable and it was easy to connect with the owner and her London representative. The flat is quiet, well equipped and an easy commute into the downtown via the tube or a number of above ground routes, most of them via double decker buses. The local community has lots to offer and we wished we could have stayed longer. We came into the Gatwick airport, took Easybus to Earls Court and a cab from there to the flat. It is easy to recommend and we would be happy to stay here again. Thank you!

COMFORTABLE STAY

  • 4 of 5
Excellent location, halfway down leafy street across from Bishops Park Tennis Centre. Two minutes' walk to a bus stop, 12 minutes to the Putney Bridge tube. Many cafes and shops nearby, plus Bishops Park to walk through and explore. Great neighborhood!

Check-in and check-out were smooth and speedy. Email and phone interaction with the owner was pleasant and helpful. Wi-Fi and other systems worked without incident. The back garden is sweet, with lush plantings and the occasional visiting cat.

Decor is uncluttered. The kitchen is bright and spacious, with tons of counter space. We appreciated the dishwasher and the clothes washer and dryer. The basket of tourist information and restaurant menus is a thoughtful gesture.

Main bedroom has comfortable mattress. There is wardrobe storage and a small desk. Second bedroom is quite small with hanging shelves but no closet space.

The living room is large with television and coffee table, but the sofas need immediate attention! They are worn and stained/discolored. Our older son slept on the sofa (we knew he would be doing so from the original listing). Yes, there were linens, but there was definitely a yuck factor. Speaking of yuck, there was a half-drunk cup of coffee in the microwave when we arrived. The rest of the housekeeping was good, especially for an older flat; the sofas fall more into a "deferred maintenance" category than "cleaning."

The bathroom has abundant hot water, thanks to the tankless heater. The large tub is a bath-taker's dream. Pretty tiles, modern fixtures. The pedestal sink has no counter space to speak of. A hanging cabinet offers some storage space, but it projects 7 inches from the wall, making it difficult to lean over to wash one's face. The shower was challenging for us. A half-door had us worried that we would dislodge it or get water all over the place. A sliding door or full shower curtain, as well as a hook to hang the hand-held shower on the wall so it could function as an alternative to the rain shower, would be welcome improvements.

On two weekday mornings we got a strong odor of cigarette smoke, even though the windows were closed. It was worst in the bathroom. Not sure if it was coming from other building residents, visitors, or contractors. Perhaps this is rare and we just got unlucky.

Overall a comfortable stay in a great location. Many pluses, but a few disappointments.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to give such a thorough review. I totally agree about the sofas! We had already ordered new covers but they are custom -made and unfortunately had not arrived in time for your stay.

The shower set-up does not seem to have been a problem to ourselves or other guests but I will certainly look at installing a shower curtain in place of the glass screen.

Apologies for the coffee cup - no excuse! As you noted, our standard of cleaning is very high and this was an unfortunate oversight. No idea where the cigarette smoke came from - the flat is a No Smoking zone so it much have drifted in from outside.

I am glad that overall your stay was enjoyable and thanks again for choosing our home.

LOVELY HOME, LOVELY AREA!

  • 4 of 5
We had such a lovely time! Thanks for letting us into your home. Great neighborhood. We absolutely love to walk the Thames walk to Hammersmith enjoying Bishops Park and a few of the old pubs along the way. "The Dove" in Hammersmith is a must do with it's history and views of the river. Lovely quiet flat. The buses are easy and a great way to sightsee. The 76 will take you on a 1 hour ride through chelsea, passing Harrods, Hyde Park, St James Park and all the way to Baker Street which places you a short walk to the Open Air Theatre in Regents Park which is one of my favorite things to do in London. Pack a picnic and go early. Never seen a bad show and in a great venue!

Owner's Response: The Dove is one of our favourite pubs too, Ginny - and we love the Open Air Theatre as well. Glad you found time to do so much and that you enjoyed your visit so much. We hope to see you again.
PS - it's the 74 bus that takes you on that great "free" sightseeing tour!

A beautiful 'rural' setting across from historic Bishops Park and the River Thames - but close to transport for all the sights of London. Especially good for kids - for playing in the park, and an easy bus or Tube ride to the city's geat museums .

I provide all guests with a detailed guide to the flat and surroundings before they arrive, so they can get the most out of their visit. Many guests have returned two or three times....
