Successful Family Vacation

My husband and I and three small dogs spent one month, from the middle of July to the middle of August, at this lovely Shell Beach cottage. It was perfect for us in so many different ways. The location could not have been better. Shell Beach is centrally located to countless trails and hikes if you are into that. In addition, we were within a short distance of Pismo Beach, San Luis Obispo, Avila Beach, Morro Bay, Los Osos, and Arroyo Grande to name just a few. All of these towns are very unique and have much to offer from shopping, wine tasting, beaches or just sitting on the boardwalk enjoying the peace. The wine tasting in Paso Robies was so much fun. If you are traveling with dogs, Avila’s dog beach is a great adventure for them.
Don’t miss Splash at Pismo Beach for the best clam chowder and steamed clams we have ever had. There will be a wait but it is well worth it. The Thursday night farmers’ market in San Luis Obispo is not to be missed. We have never seen one bigger and the quality of the produce and the prepared food being sold is amazing. The Steaming Bean is Shell Beach has great oatmeal, the coffee is very good, and it really is a local’s hangout. It is within walking distance of the cottage.
The cottage sits on a very quiet street. We loved the hard wood floors. They were so easy to clean. The house is a half a block from Ocean Blvd, which runs along the ocean’s bluff. A short walk from the cottage is a lovely small park where we spent almost every night watching the sunset and the pelicans dive for their dinner.
We were incredibly impressed with Robbin. Before we signed the contract, we contacted her many times with specific questions. She was always informative and helpful. While we were at the house, there was a plumbing issue. After contacting Robbin, she handled the situation quickly and followed up with us to ensure that the problem had been corrected to our satisfaction. Our deposits were in our hands within days of returning home.
The only problem with our stay at Robbin’s home is that when we left Shell Beach it was 61 degrees and when we returned to Las Vegas it was 101 degrees. We were definitely spoiled. If we decide to return to that area for a short or longer stay, we will absolutely contact Robbin to determine the availability of her home.
