Misleading

Although we were very much looking forward to this vacation, it did not turn out as we expected. The house is in a spectacular setting, no doubt. However, everything else was less than anticipated. This house was not well maintained and as I review the pictures posted here on the website, they look like they must be from several years ago. The kitchen was old, dilapidated and dirty. The stove was greasy and unusable. The floors were dirty. The bathrooms were old, tiles moldy and left with used soap and other bathroom toiletries. The bedrooms were both downstairs, dark, cavey, and damp. One had a trundle bed that two adults could not comfortably sleep on. So they had to sleep on a blow up mattress in the living room. There was mold on several of the walls of the house. The pool was dirty, and the owner was told before we even arrived, but the pool maintenance staff didn't arrive until our last day there. The outside of the house, the "garden" area, was overgrown and impossible to sit in, looking nothing like the pictures. Water was spewing from timed hoses set up to water plants. I felt this was a real waste of a valuable southwestern resource. The tennis court was a mile away and it had a lock on the gate that luckily a neighbor was able to open for us.
Owner's Response: This review is not in good faith. These people sought discounts from the beginning and the minute they arrived in the house (with only partial success). They arrived to the house and instead of enjoying their vacation they started cataloguing all the stuff they did not like! They were late in submitting their payment and they damaged the kitchen and other parts of the house where they had no business fiddling with things. I sent the cleaning woman to clean a second time under their direction immediately after they asked and the pool was cleaned by my house caretaker. The cleaning woman was given a hard time-- she was even asked why is the toilet brush old?(!) The only way to take care of the landscaping around the house is by sprinkler and drip irrigation since tenants are not exactly willing to irrigate themselves and they do not like gardeners coming around, privacy matters to most people... The sprinklers come up only for a short time during the day and these are the first people to be bothered by them! In their great taste for decoration they set up the main living room as a bedroom using my inflatable queen-size bed. All the small towels disappeared (were disposed of?)and all the 100-so towels in the house were used up in one week... To top it all they submitted this review!
