La Grange is a delightfully restored 19C stone built farmhouse offering stylish & luxurious accommodation for up to 14 people. All the rooms have been furnished to an exceptionally high standard with both antique & modern furniture. The large beamed & partially stone flagged open plan living room & inside dining area is furnished with comfortable sofas & chairs; a large screen satellite TV & VHS, DVD & CD players; & a table & chairs for 14 people. The modern and fully equipped kitchen leads off the living room as does a separate cloakroom.The bedroom wing comprises 6 spacious ensuite bedrooms - 4 double/2 twin - all with separate entrances to the central courtyard. There are fully equipped laundry & drying facilities. Outside, there is a large attractive, mainly lawned garden for the exclusive use of guests which has a large shaded terrace with a table and chairs for 14 people, a BBQ and lighting, making it an ideal place for outdoor eating and relaxing. The 10 x 5 metre fenced, alarmed and salt-filtered swimming pool has a large sunbathing terrace with plenty of sun loungers, tables and chairs and is a wonderful place to enjoy the stunning views. Alongside the pool there is a separate table tennis terrace. Badminton and boules sets are also provided.

Additional amenities: Figeac has a good mix of shops and banks, with a bustling Saturday morning market. A large L'Eclerc supermarket is less than five minutes away with a depot de pain and charcuterie even closer.There is an excellent choice of restaurants close to the gite and in the town. Literary, music, theatre and other festivals are held in Figeac and other surrounding towns throughout the year. An Information Folder, with details of all the amenities and activities locally is provided and the resident English owners are available to give you every assistance during your stay.

On arrival: Peter and Carolyn Smith, the resident English owners, invite guests to a welcome drink on arrival and a Welcome Hamper is also provided. All bed linen, bath and tea towels are provided and included in the rental prices. Beds will be made up for guests' arrival. For those staying more than one week, fresh bed linen and towels will be provided for subsequent weeks. Guests are required to supply their own towels for swimming and the removal of hair colourants and self-tanning lotions.

Small children: Children of all ages are welcome. Those over 6 months at the time of the holiday are counted as occupants. A fully equipped Cot Room, with two cots, is available on the first floor of the gite. Baby sitting for children up to 5 is provided on a charged basis by arrangement and there is a remote baby monitor available for guests' use.An extra cot and 2 high chairs are also available.

Luxury in Liffernet!

La Grange is a stunning and immaculately presented 'home from home' set in wonderful countryside a short distance from Figeac. We have just been lucky enough to spend a fantastic week there with a group of family and friends spanning 3 nationalities (British, French and German) and 3 generations (university aged 'children', parents in late 40s and grandparents in their 70s).
The property was beautifully maintained and the facilities and layout were perfect for our group. All the bedrooms were charming and very comfortable, with stylish en suite bathrooms throughout and always plenty of hot water!
The lounge and dining area comfortably accommodated our full group and the kitchen was well equipped for all our needs. However, happily we were able to enjoy nearly all of our meals outside, where the delightful terrace and barbecue area has a large table set in dappled shade beneath a pretty pergola. Just gorgeous!
The pool is beautiful with spectacular views across the valley and the poolside area very well equipped for everyone to relax and enjoy. Table tennis table and other games provided were also very much appreciated and enjoyed by the 'children' of all ages in our group.
A very special mention and a very big 'Thank You' must go to the owners, Peter and Carolyn. From my first pre-booking enquiry to the moment we left at the end of our stay, they couldn't have been more friendly, kind and helpful. The warmth of their welcome and their charming hospitality (not to mention their very practical help on more boring matters such as a lost suitcase on our outbound flight) were just fantastic and very much appreciated by us all.
We would all love to return and thoroughly recommend La Grange as a great destination for a truly relaxing and wonderful holiday.

FIVE STARS ON EVERY ASPECT!! Fabulous holiday!!

La Grange is truly marvelous for your holiday stay!
The hospitality shown by Peter and Caro is second to none!
I have never stayed in a gite which presents one with an excellent hamper on arrival and welcome drinks!
I took my vocal group High Voltage to sing with French choirs in concerts.There were ten of us residing at La Grange.
It was perfect as each couple had private rooms and an en-suite.We were all delighted with our bedrooms which had very comfortable beds,tastefully decorated and spacious.There is marvelous water pressure in the shower as well...just to mention it!!
The salon is very attractive.Plenty of comfortable seating,a log burner,a long dining table,and lots of light coming in from the huge patio doors on a sunny morning.The lamp lighting in the evening is particularly cosy when one is done for the day, reflecting with a large glass of wine in hand!
There is every item you could wish for in the kitchen,also a dishwasher....essential for a good holiday!! Utility facilities are available in a separate area within the gite if you wish to use them.
Peter and Caro have thought of everything to make their guests stay top notch! They are very hospitable and welcoming people and also very happy to help in any way with information and recommendations.They pitch it just right between being available to help etc and leaving the holiday makers to their own devices.Perfect skillful hosting.
The outside area is fantastic! A beautiful pergola with lanterns to sit under in the evening,barbeque area,expansive lawn,swimming pool,table tennis,petanque.......beautifully French and rustic around every corner!
We went in April and were able to practise our singing outside on the patio under the lantern lights and the moon!
Wonderful!!
The scenery is amazing in this part of France.So many things to see and do! I cannot recommend La Grange and this area highly enough....it is an undiscovered jewel and still very French!
We are DEFINITELY going back (if Peter and Caro can put up with the singing!) and I would urge you to book for your holiday! YOU WILL BE THOROUGHLY DELIGHTED as we were!! BON VACANCE!!

Une belle maison et des hôtes très sympathiques

Nous avons passé une semaine dans cette très belle demeure. Nous étions 7 adultes et 8 enfants. Le fait que les chambres aient toutes un accès distinct sur l'extérieur et leur propre salle d'eau est très appréciable. Il faut passer par l’extérieur pour aller au salon. Les plus matinaux peuvent donc s'y rendre sans crainte de déranger les autres. La piscine est nettoyée tous les matins et les propriétaires sont très réactifs pour répondre à la moindre demande. La maison est rénovée avec beaucoup de goût et de haut standing. Peter et Caro donnent de précieux conseils sur la région. Nous reviendrons chez eux avec grand plaisir.

The Grange in Liffernet

A little slice of heaven…The Grange is absolutely my favourite rental property in Europe to date! Our party consisted of 11 of us (from Grandma aged 68 years to Angus aged 11years). Expectations were high following an exciting and rigorous selection process back in the UK where all family members were allowed to search all websites and submit up to 8 properties to be considered for the short list. After heated debates we short listed 3 properties in France…and the voting began! The Grange won by a fair majority so all family members were expecting big things! To be frank…it delivered on all fronts - Relaxation, family fun and extremely attentive and well advised hosts.
The bedrooms were all gorgeous…some small and quaint whilst others were tastefully grand. None of the rooms had clutter or fuss and all had lovely little touches from gorgeous bits of furniture to lavender wrapped soap bars. Frankly the youngest members of our party got rather too good a deal in their room…but we live and learn!
The pool was clean, (cleaned, maintained and tidied by Peter every morning), tidy, and large enough for all of our very tall teenagers and Grandma to have a lot of fun all at the same time. We had very competitive Water Olympic 2012 daily sessions as well as relaxed floating on lilo sessions. There was a sun lounger and padded cover for everyone and plenty of decent parasols. Views around the property were gorgeous and seating outside in lots of different parts of the grounds. Sporting equipment was well used…with the badminton net doubling up as a volley ball net for further Olympic competitions!
The kitchen is well equipped and if we needed anything (eg paella pan) that we couldn’t find Caro managed to supply us with one.
We visited lots of beautiful towns and villages on Caro and Peter’s recommendation. They were all within easy reach and definitely the prettiest and well maintained French towns/villages I have visited - great for a bit of essential retail therapy. Caro strongly recommended we eat at Le Vieux Pont restaurant in Belcastel. This was one of holiday highlights. We ate at lunch time and the food was truly beautiful. The wine was good too and the bill not in the least bit painful (mind you Grandma was paying!!) .
What else? A few of us did some running and walking which was very easy and again pretty countryside. The boys had fun canoeing very locally too. The only thing I can really say that we missed was a Boulangerie within walking dista

An oasis near Figeac

If you want to find an oasis surrounded by the beauty of the Lot and Cele valleys, look no further. La Grange is a very special place. I have just spent two very happy weeks there. We were a party of 9 the first week and 11 the second week and everyone couldn't have been more enthusiastic, not just about their stay in this beautiful gite but also about the region.

The owners, Peter and Caro, made us feel extremely welcome. The gite is extremely comfortable with just about everything you need thought of and with all those lovely extra touches as well - a welcome hamper, soap tied with fresh lavander from the garden, strong shopping bags to take to the supermarket. Each room is a joy to go into; very tastefully decorated and with the comfort of quality linen on the beds, bath sheets not just standard-size towels and a well-equipped salon to relax in.

There is also a lovely sense of space outside, plenty of places just to go and sit, in sun or shade, and a great pool complete with stunning view.

And we certainly had no shortage of things to do. Just exploring the beauty of the two nearby valleys alone gave us so much to talk about and kept the cameras clicking. We so enjoyed, for instance, a wonderful circular trip to the stunning hill-top medieval village, St Cirq Lapopie, which took us along the Cele valley taking in the sights of Espanac and Marcilhac (both very old and beautiful villages in their own right) and back along the impressive Lot valley where we even managed to fit in a bit of wine-tasting at a wonderful shop that Caro and Peter recommended in Cajarc. Another afternoon was spent in Conques, equally stunning, charaterised by its fishscale tiled rooves and magnificent church. If you go, see if you can find the old roman bridge on the way back! Nearby Figeac and Capdenac Le Haut are both enormously enjoyable to visit. Figeac has a great Saturday market. Capdenac has all sorts of hidden surprises and makes for a beautiful walk there and back. Of course, you don't have to explore the Lot valley by car. We had a great time canoeing locally enjoying the serenity of the river ... well, that was before we got into a water fight!

So, I would have no hesitation recommending La Grange. You couldn't fail to have to a happy holiday there. Wonderful for walkers, too!

La Grange is located in the small, quiet hamlet of Liffernet in tranquil and beautiful countryside between the Cele and the Lot rivers and is ten minutes away by car from the thriving and picturesque medieval town of Figeac. With its spectacular gorges, lush valleys, historic towns (including some of the most popular and interesting sites in France, such as Rocamadour, Conques & St Cirq Lapopie), caves (notably Padirac & Grottes du Peche-Merle) and pretty villages to explore, the Lot Valley offers a broad canvas of stunning scenery and plenty to see and do. The vineyards of Cahors and Gaillac are within easy reach and well worth a visit. For active visitors, there are 3 excellent golf courses & 2 riverside tennis clubs nearby. The area also offers water sports, riding, canoeing, cycling, fishing, bird and butterfly watching (with many varied and unusual species) and walking (with an abundance of walks from the house and in the countryside around).

Golf: Golfing parties (12 maximum) are especially welcome. There are 3 excellent golf courses within an hour's drive from the house. Rodez and Aurillac are 18 hole courses and St Cere is a 9 hole course. Clubs may be hired at Rodez and buggies may be hired if required. Green fees in May/June/September/October are 30-35 euros (with reductions available for golfing parties) and are slightly higher in July/August.
