Sylvan Lake:
This 669 acre lake is the largest in Noble County and one of the largest in Northern Indiana. It is popular with skiers, jet skiers, sightseers, and fishermen. With its four large basins, one can usually find an area that suits your water enjoyment needs. Sylvan is a popular site for catching bluegill, crappie, bass, or yellow perch. The State DNR also stocks it with large walleye fingerlings. There is a public access site just off of SR 9 in Rome City. This is also a great spot to beach your boat to walk up the hill to enjoy the nearby ice cream shop. The water level at our seawall is around 2.5 - 3' deep and is around 4 - 5' deep at the end of our 30' pier, all with a sandy bottom. A popular site on the lake is the 'sandbar' in the basin along SR 9. Families anchor their boats there to spend an afternoon enjoying the ankle to knee deep water and the sandy bottom. Information on fishing laws and on-line, non-resident licenses is available
