Riva del Garda Villa Rental Photos and Description

6 bedroom, 3 full bath, sleeps 11 with all amenities for a perfect trip!

Lago di Garda offers summer water sports & winter snow sports...all conveniently located! Built in 2006 this Alpine style villa with 240 degree views of the lake, the Trentino wine valley & Dolomite mountains has every amenity to ensure a wonderful holiday: Lower level w/attached garage, laundry room w/washer & drying rack, 2 bedrooms each w/sliding doors and tile patio, one children's bedroom w/2 twin beds (located between hallway and game room), 1 bathroom w/shower & game room complete with a foosball table, board games and flatscreen TV with HDMI hookups (HOWEVER you must bring your own HDMI cable, game console and/or laptop for video-gaming & movie watching-but it is the perfect solution to keep the kids occupied while the adults lounge in the upstairs living room). The main level has a large living room with vaulted wood ceilings, travertine floor w/radiant heat & cooling, TV, DVD & CD player, movie, CDs, & built in speakers, inside & outside. The dining room table seats 8 (with 4 extra folding chairs in game room), & the kitchen has cherry cabinets, stone counters, dishwasher, large oven, microwave, refrigerator, pantry, toaster, 2 types of coffee makers & all cooking, serving utilities for 11 people. There is a half bath on this level. The upper level has cherry wood floors, large Master suite w/balcony w/views, shower, & large tub. An additional bedroom w/2 balconies, 1 small children's bedroom & an additional bathroom w/shower, sink and toilet. Their is a total of 6 bedrooms (1 Master Suite, 3 normal bedrooms, 2 smaller rooms-more appropriate for teens or children) and the villa sleeps a total of 11 people. The property offers amazing views from the pool deck & all primary rooms of the villa. As a newer free-standing villa located in the mountainous northern part of Lago di Garda, the home is unique. Most of the villas at the north end of the lake are much older, and do not offer views. Our original plan was to buy an older home and renovate, but the views of this property were so amazing we decided to build our own home.

About Ginny Mees

We built this beautiful villa while living in San Francisco, as our future retirement home and family compound. We celebrate many holidays, vacations and special birthdays here with family and friends. Currently living in The Hague we are now able to enjoy this special place more often.

Ginny Mees purchased this villa in 2006

Why Ginny Mees chose Riva del Garda

When we first stood on this property and looked at the magnificent views, there was just a mound of dirt. After 2 years of building the home, and now many years of enjoying the fruits of our labors, we never tire of sitting on our pool deck with a nice glass of excellent wine, and taking in the breath-taking views.

What makes this villa unique

The views are hard to find in a stand alone villa at the north end of Garda Lake. There are many apartments, but land is at a premium due to the majestic mountains surrounding the northend. We have also noticed that all the other villas for sale were quite old and musty smelling, so we opted to build a new home with all the modern conveniences.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Hi Ginny

Took your advice and enjoyed à white wine by the pool. Which we are still doing :-). Fantastic location!

Great place to stay in Riva del Garda!

  • 5 of 5

6 of us stayed here for week in September. We had a wonderful time, the house is beautiful and very comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and we loved being able to cook and relax.

Ginny had another lawn chair delivered for us so we all could lay by the pool in comfort. She was very accommodating in anything we needed and also full of great recommendations for nearby sights.

I absolutely loved the town of Riva del Garda, it has great shopping, restaurants and a beautiful walk along the waterfront. I will definitely be back and stay at Villa Teggiole.

Wonderful location, accomodation and vacation!

  • 5 of 5

One week wasn't enough in this beautiful area of Italy so we will be back! The photos of the views from the villa are better in person; stunning. The villa was perfect, spacious and well laid out. The kitchen was well equipped; we were able to cook for many and enjoy the panoramic views with long, lazy meals on the balcony, true Italian style. As a family with 2 young boys, we would thoroughly recommend Villa Teggiole and are already planning our next stay to continue enjoying everything the area has to offer.

Een geweldige plek; A great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

I've been lucky enough to have stayed here 4 times in the past few years, the last time was this August. Every time the view is stunning!. The composition of my group has always been variable, but whether you're staying with 4 or 10 man the house it always works.

The house itself and the location are amazing. It’s always clean when we arrive, the beds neatly made and in winter the lamps and the heating are turned on for a warm welcome. Our favorite place is the floor with the terrace, where the living room and the kitchen are located. From here you have a panoramic view over the valley and Lago di Garda.

The kitchen has everything you can imagine and the living room is well equipped with the necessary things (especially the sound system is very good, although you just have to figure out how this works). The bedrooms are equipped with excellent beds and the bathrooms are spacious and also well equipped.

In August 80% of the Italians seems to off for holidays, which makes it impossible to arrange things on short-term. Fortunately there are many nice villages and places nearby and you can have a delicious meal at the nearby hotel/restaurant (on the mountain, just below the house) for often very reasonable prices.

Tolle Villa

  • 4 of 5

Fazit: empfehlenswert

Owner's Response: Thank you kindly for your review of Villa Teggiole. We apologize for the situation with the dryer, and the new one will be delivered in the next 2 weeks! ;-) In August it is simply not possible for normal life to continue in Italy, and with all the rain, we know this was an inconvenience for our guests. We are delighted that you enjoyed Acetaio del Balsamico, it is a special place! We appreciate your input about hanging clothes. We will install hanging hooks in the lower level bedrooms, in addition to the bureaus which are already there, to allow for hanging clothes. For future reference, the BEST mosquito repellent we have EVER used is called Terra Shield, it is an all natural blend of essential oils, so is perfect also for children and you can buy it online and have it shipped directly to your home: Best, P and G Mees

Not that chic Villa feeling we were looking for

  • 3 of 5

We arrived at about 17:00 at the villa and managed to get in, unfortunately the house keeper couldn't make it at this time.

First impression of the villa was very nice allthough the rooms look a lot bigger on the photos then they are. The photographer did a very good job here. Due to the limited space in some rooms, the owner waived to put in wardrobes, so people had to to live out of one's suitcase which doesn't raise the feeling of being in a villa.

On the 2nd view we were not so pleased with what we saw. Spider webs and dust bunnies in the corners, some old spaghettis residues in a pot and the kitchen countertop was dirty. It didn't look like that the house cleaning was worth 550,- € (the amount of money the owner charged us for cleaning). The lounge chairs around the pool (only 6 of them for 11 people) were plastic not wooden as shown in the pics and there are no cushions provided. Almost all of the tiles of the pool edge were loose which seems to be dangerous if little kids are playing at the pool. The dining table outside had only 8 chairs and no cushions as well. We found some more chairs and some cushions in the garage, but those chairs were partly broken and the cushions were very dirty. We were told that these chairs and cushions were sorted out this spring and will be disposed in October - hmmmhh. The fact that the clothes dryer didn't work and couldn't be replaced due to public holiday in Italy during that week was bad luck, I guess. At least we could get the dishwasher with a little tweak to work.

The above mentioned things are annoying but we could have lived with them, but what really bothered us, was the musty smell in all lower level guest rooms, every room was dampish and everybody complained about the bad smell!

In general we can give no more then 3 stars for the Villa Teggiole due to the mentioned conditions. Location and view is very nice and the kitchen equipment is more than sufficient. The situation in the lower level rooms is below standard. We would recommend the Villa Teggiole for families with kids (if the pool tiles are repaired ) but definetly not for a larger group of addults because of the room situation.

About ourselves: We frequently go on vacation with large groups over 10. We rented a couple of houses in Italy, Spain and Crotia so far and we know the standards in these countries and in this price range pretty well.

Owner's Response: It is always a shame when a guest arrives & is unhappy. We work very hard to ensure that everything is up to the standard our guests expect. However, there can be circumstances which are completely out of our control. This group had a couple of these (tons of rain & a broken dryer), & several unreasonable complaints given the thorough descriptions provided on our Homeaway listing, (such as explaining the layout of each bedroom & the two rooms which are more adequate for teens or children). We believe the weather has been the largest factor in this situation: creating unique circumstances, a lackluster holiday & a group of adults who remained inside much of their vacation. Europe had the wettest summer on record this year, and Lago di Garda was no exception. In the 8 years we have owned this home, we have never had guests complain of mustiness below. In fact it is one of the comments we hear most often, that the lower level does NOT have the musty smell so often found in older rentals. This is because every room has a door or window for ventilation, which should be left open during the day (they have a tilt forward mechanism which allows for a secure way to leave them open-which is explained in detail in our Welcome Book), allowing warm air to flow and dry out any moisture. As for the tile coping around the pool I have advised EVERY guest before their arrival of this needed repair. Again due to the heavy winter & rains in spring, the repaired concrete did not hold, and we were waiting for a dry Saturday to complete it. We have 6 molded plastic, adjustable chaise lounges at the pool- as described in our posting. We have the broken wooden ones in garage to be disposed of, along with the old cushions. Every bedroom has either a bureau or closet (or both) for storing clothes-not sure why they used their suitcases. Indeed, the dryer broke the week before, which meant that our caretaker had to spend Saturday at the laundromat instead of supervising the cleaning. Our cleaning fee is 500 euro (not 550), & covers the utilities, as well as the turning of the house Imagine trying to turn the house with 2 cleaners & 2 caretakers, when the dryer is broken, it is raining, you have guests arriving in 6 hours and a sick child! They did their best & promptly came up to remove the "dust-bunnies". We have NEVER in 7 years had this, and are sincerely disappointed that this group was dissatisfied. P & G Mees

Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a four week vacation staying at Villa Teggiole in Italy. We travel quite often, and this was the most amazing and by far the greatest vacation we have ever taken. The house has the most amazing view and is looking over the mountains and lake. It is surrounded by olive groves and grape orchards. It over looks about five small Italian towns and we heard a chorus of each town's bell tower ringing each day. It was magical! The surrounding mountains were awesome to explore and each day was a new adventure. The lake is dotted with quaint, flower filled medieval towns each with their own castle. The high mountain meadows are great to hike in and are beautiful. Staying at Villa Teggiole is definitely the way to go because you come home to a relaxing home, sit on the porch with your wine and cheese and talk about the daily adventure. Then its about a 6 min. drive back to town to one of the many piazzas for a late dinner. Staying at the house made us feel like we were more enmeshed into the Italian culture and gave us the opportunity to lounge, cook, or just sit and look at the amazing view (which is in every direction). I would HIGHLY recommend staying here and can't wait to go back. It will be the best vacation you ever take!!!

This popular lake is the largest lake in Italy. It has been called the Mediterranean of the north, due to the mild climate, food and amazing wines from the area. Riva is an upscale village on the lake offering fabulous shopping, ristorantes, a large lakeside piazza, and ferry service to the other lakeside villages. Varone Falls is close to the home with an amazing waterfall, and numerous castles in nearby Malcesine, Arco and Sirmione. Torbole next to Riva has the most popular beach on the lake, as well as windsurfing lessons and camps. Next to the River Sarca is a bike path which runs from Lago Di Garda, inland to Trento. During the winter there are numerous skiing facilities, and other winter activities. Don't miss the ristorante 'Pie Del Castello' which is walking distance from our home in the village of Cologna, and serves the local specialty, carne salada. Our favorite palce to dine is also walking distance, and offers the same fabulous views, since they are right below our home: Agritur Acetaie, simply fabulous food and wines. Ask for Alessandra as her English is perfect. They also provide tours of the balsamic making plant there.

Other Activities: wine-tasting

There is a separate laundry room with washer, dryer, ironing board, iron and drying rack. In addition we have a large clothes line behind the house for drying beach and pool towels. The home has radiant heating and air conditioning in the floors, and two air conditioning units on the main level and upper level. The home is elegantly appointed with art, but the most amazing thing to enjoy when staying at Villa Teggiole is the views which are spectacular during the day and at night. You will also enjoy the sounds of roosters, church bells, many birds, and a neighboring donkey. Enjoy Villa Teggiole.
