Further details for this vacation cottage rental in Austin, Texas

City Wildlife!: Our neighborhood boasts a family of Peacocks. They roam freely and are usually wandering through our and our neighbor's yards in the morning and early afternoon. Their distinct calls can be heard from the trees where they perch in the evenings. We also have a resident rooster named Jim. Jim used to roam freely as well until the apartment complex in the neighborhood threatened to 'remove' him. In response, some sympathetic neighbors made a little home for Jim and he now lives across the street. Because Jim is an early bird, we provide complementary ear plugs for our sensitive guests! Other colorful pets include a goat who gets taken for walks with the family dog, a few guinea hens, and boa (which luckily doesn't come out much; and then only with his owner)

Pefect locale for Austin stay

valleynative McAllen, TX
Review Submitted: April 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
You cannot find a better place for the price and location. This cottage is located on Airport Blvd and I-35, which only puts you within minutes from downtown Austin or North Austin. I've stayed at this place a few times and always happy with my accomodations. Love the privacy and the "austin vibe" to this little cottage. As a frequent business traveler, having homey feel to my lodging such as Butler cottage is a fresh alternative to bland hotel rooms with fluroscent lightings and stained sheets. I love doing Austin weekends and this cottage always assures me a cool stay for my budget

Cute and affordable but note the rooster neighbor

Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
If you want to sleep late, this might not be the home for you. But it is adorable with nice owner and very affordable. I think we will pay more for a place with a neighboring rooster so we can sleep late, but for a business trip or early riser... that might not be an issue.

Nice Spot!!!

Great location! Five dollar taxi ride to downtown and 6th street music scene. Funky little taco shacks and cool coffee shops within walking distance. The rental was clean and the bed super comfortable. Coffee and tea on the house! I even ran into a flock of peacocks on a morning run! The owners are helpful and full of suggestions for sight seeing. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone and will stay here again on my next trip to Austin.

Butler Cottage

rose g Manning, South Carolina
Review Submitted: June 10, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had the pleasure of staying at Butler Cottage recently and were delighted. We felt like we were at the beach. It is very charming and close to pretty much anything you might want to do. We had the opportunity to walk through the neighborhood and were thrilled to see the many peacocks who apparently reside there. We also had a chance to check out the "rooster in residence". While he did make quite a bit of noise, it was certainly not an issue for us.

We will most definitely stay on future visits to Austin!

A lovely cottage!

Review Submitted: April 21, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My husband I stayed for 3 night in the lovely Butler Cottage. It was clean, cozy and the light filled bedroom with the huge surrounding windows felt like we were sleeping in a tranquil gazebo. Reyna was very helpful with any questions. The area was close to the highway but not noisy from it and it was very convenient to the downtown area that is filled with wonderful restaurants and great vintage shops. We would definitely stay again!
