Relax in our cozy 3 bedroom Chalet. Sitting on 2 acres.Close to several Ski Mountains, excellent golf courses, beautiful state parks, local lakes, rivers and waterfalls. Shopping, entertainment and great food never to far away!

Minutes to Okemo. The Jackson Gore entrance is just 3 mins, away. Killington is about a 25 mins. drive. Okemo Golf Course in just 2 miles away. Doubling as a Cross Country Course in the winter. There are several lakes just minutes away and a state park where you can swim. picnic, kayake, canoe,rent paddle boats, fish, hike and more. Take a swim in the crystal clear waters of our local Buttermilk Falls.

Don't forget shopping! Manchesters Outlet Village is 40 minutes away. If you do not know the village of Weston, you are in for a treat! Just 20 mins away this Historic Place is the quintessential Vermont town. The famous Vermont Country Store is located there- along with the wonderful Weston Play House.

You can also go hiking or down hill mountain biking. For you Shoppers(Manchester Outlet Village is just a 40 mins drive)

Golf: Okemo Golf Course 3 miles from house, also doubles as a cross country course in the winter. Rentals are available.

Ski: Our Home is 5 Miles north of Okemo Mountain,. The Jackson Gore entrance is 3 miles away, and Killington is about 20 minutes away.

Great Ski Chalet!

The home is beautiful, and perfect for a ski weekend!

I came with a group of friends/coworkers for a long weekend of skiing at Okemo - the place is perfect for warming up by the fireplace with some hot chocolate! It was wonderful that they had Wi-Fi, since there wasn't cell service - also a TV and cable so we could watch the Patriots game.

The location is great for getting to the Jackson Gore entrance at Okemo, just a few minutes down the road. It was really convenient to the Shaws for last minute dinner plans :) The had everything you'd need - dishes, pots & pans, etc. and a great dining room for a family-style dinner and a game of cards.

We loved our stay! I'm definitely recommending this place for friends/family, and hope to get back again!

Enjoyed the House

The house was just what we needed after each day of skiing. When I stay in a house I have two concerns: 1) Cleanliness and 2) Comfort. The house provided both of these requirements plus a few more. We made full use of the kitchen, the wood burning stove, TV and WiFi. The beds were very comfortable and we each got a good night sleep. There were no complaints from the kids. The driveway was well plowed and there was plenty of room for a few cars. We had two cars in the driveway. The owners were very nice to work with and we will probably return to this house (assuming it is available) in the future. Thanks Peggy for sharing your house with us.

Amazing!

So, I am usually not the type to write reviews, but I felt this house truly deserved the the praise I am about to give. My husband and I have stayed at this house twice, once during the peak of ski season and most recently during the summer of 2011. We had an amazing time both trips. This V.T. hideaway is like a home away from home. This house is stocked with everything you could ever need and Mt. holly is situated minutes away from anything you could ever want to do during the summer or winter. My husband and I travel a lot and rarely visit the same place twice, in an effort to keep our vacations exciting and a whole new experience each time. Needless to say after two stays in this Vermont Chalet, we plan to visit again and again.
Looking forward to planning our next trip back soon!

Comfy, cozy, clean

Tucked in the fragrant balsams at the end of Chalet drive is the McManus home…comfy, cozy and clean. We have spent many wonderful family vacations…summer, fall and winter…. at this home away from home. The perfect location just minutes above Jackson Gore, opposite mountain traffic. Close to summer swimming holes (don’t miss Buttermilk Falls) and laid back lakes, there is always plenty to do (or not). Be sure to stop at the Sugar Shack on Route 100 and get your syrup and a maple creamie is a must! A trip to the VT Country Store is a short ride with beautiful VT scenery.
The stocked kitchen and floor to ceiling windowed dining room is perfect for gathering family for meals. There is a large new sofa in the family room where the whole crew can sit and watch TV (the only one but the kids can connect to WiFi for their gaming) or just stare at the fire. There is plenty of wood to keep it going.
Bedrooms are comfortable with a bath on each floor. If you have a clear night, go out and stare up at the stars.
The owner is great to work with. I would highly recommend this home for a family vacation.

Going Back

The title is probably the best compliment I could give. We shared this house with another family over MLK '08 weekend and we are going back for Presidents Day '08. There were 4 adults and 4 kids - ages 5 to 15. The house sleeps 8 but some will need to be small. We used an air mattress for one of the kids. I would say 6 adults max.

Although an older property, it was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen works well with a bunch of people and sitting at the table felt like you were in the woods. There's only 1 TV so expect some withdrawl symptoms from kids, but they kept busy playing in the snow outside. The wood stove cranks out heat.

Location was great being north of the Jackson Gore entrance. We used this lodge as our base camp for the bussiest day in the history of Okemo (most tickets sold) and it worked very well. The parking lot is far but use the drop off for everyone else, boot up at the car and hop the shuttle. They do it well.

Getting out of this parking lot and turning north was never a problem. Trying to go to Ludlow after skiing was difficult.

The owner is great to work with.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
