Originally built as a sea captain's home in 1835, this charming house situated on 6 acres of oceanfront property has been totally renovated. The house faces Acadia, and offers spectacular views of the sunrise from the master bedroom. The downstairs has been opened up so that one room flows into the other. The large, well-equipped kitchen has an eight foot island with four bar stools, making it easy to prepare meals while socializing with family and friends. Just off the kitchen is a large deck, perfect for outdoor meals and barbecuing. Acadia with its hiking and carriage trails is less than an hour’s drive. You may also wish to explore other lovely towns along the Maine coast such as Blue Hill, Deer Isle, and Castine. Guestbook comments from the manager
In 2011 my husband and I spent four weeks at Eastlook (name on the house sign). We enjoyed our stay so much that we revisited in 2012 and stayed for six weeks. Every aspect of our stay was phenomenal. The house itself is spacious and well laid out and presented in an immaculate condition. Even though, in those two years we never met the owners, Rob & Laurie, they were responsible and caring landlords. If an issue presented itself, it was taken care of immediately. The kitchen is a cooks dream and has every known spice, cooking utensil, platters and appliances that one could need, are provided.

The house is situated on a peninsula, seven miles from the main road, so any traffic in front of the house is minimum and positively no noise at night. You are halfway between Blue Hill and Ellsworth; both about a 20 minute drive in opposite directions. There are many good restaurants to choose from, in all price categories from pricey to affordable.

Our grandchildren visited for a week both years and there is much to take advantage of within an hour’s drive, both educational and just fun things to do. Of course you could opt to stay home, as we did on many occasions and just take in the beautiful scenery, cool breezes and wonderful meals on the deck. If you are considering a rental in this area, this house has all you will ever need, you can’t lose.

BREATHTAKINGLY ABSOLUTELY SUPERB

  • 5 of 5
We are repeat renters for several years and love and treat this home as our own. It deserves respect just because of the mere beauty of the entire rental and property. A long as we can we will come back here years to come. My two grandsons love the large tree on the deck and the horse cross the street. When one walks into this house you immediately experience breathtaking awe The pictures do not do it justice the owners are exceedingly hospitable. We spend time in Maine and have for the past 40 years. This is by far the most wonderful memories we cherish. We drove to ellsworth for dinner and the Acadia Park one day after the govt opened it. Governors restaurant is wonderful Walking along the beach across the street is my most enjoyable activity. The boys 6 and 8 build a treasure chest in the sand just from things we scout around. This year they outdid themselves and found enough shells to spell their names. We could not go to sand beach bcuz the park was closed but we used the shore across the street and made the best treasure chest ever. The pictures I have are treasuring memories with castles and moats and crab shells rocks shells. I will always want this to be part of the memories of my life. I highly recommend with a rating a 25. Share in the memories of Gods nature and make this house someplace you have to visit at least once in your lifetime.

GREAT MEMORIES ON NEWBURY NECK

  • 5 of 5
Our family of seven has vacationed on Newbury Neck at various venues since 1970. We found this particular property this year. Loved our stay. Our enjoyment of the area was extended to our grandchildren this year. We had a grand time in your very accomodating house. We will be returning next summer.

GREAT LOCATION IN THE HEART OF MAINE!

  • 4 of 5
We choose a rental somewhere new every year, and this past trip was spent in Maine. As a child I vacationed in southern Maine and have very fond memories of those summers. Newbury Neck is not the Maine of my childhood, but even better. It was like we discovered some hidden secret. This is Maine at it's finest! Book this rental if you want a vacation thats quiet, peaceful & scenic. My daily routine would: wake up eat a wonderful breakfast (the kitchen is a really a cooks dream), pack up the coolers and bags, ride our bikes across the street and down the farm path to the rocky beach shore (pack water shoes). The guys spent their time fishing, while the girls soaked up some sun, chatted and read our books. My three year old son spent his time playing in the water and searching for crabs and periwinkles. We then would leave our chairs and everything to head back to the house for lunch and nap time. Those of us who didn't nap took the time to go for a bike ride (beautiful biking or jogging scenery). After our siesta we would head back down to the water and enjoy happy hour (cooler of beer and wine). We usually had dinner at the house, but we did have it out a couple of times. I highly recommend Perry Long's Lobster Shack (5 minute drive down the road). The neighboring towns were also very cute. Blue Hill had a cute little downtown with shops etc. (20 minute drive). If you want to explore Bar Harbor I would suggest making a day of it. Not too far away, but far enough to get up really early, have a plan of sites to see and then return back much later in the evening. I would return to Surry and rent this house again. Rob and his wife were very helpful, nice and a phone call away. They have pride in maintaining this beautiful home and it clearly shows.

QUIET RETREAT

  • 5 of 5
My wife, daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful Maine vacation in this rental. Yes, it was a little overkill (to say the least - the house is bigger than our home), but the large kitchen and sunny living room was a treat to wake up to. On a long road in the middle of what seems like nowhere, we biked, went to the rocky beach across the street and set off on daily explorations. We went to MDI four or five times, and although the ride is about an hour, the picturesque roads make the distance seem closer. Overall we were very happy with this well maintained house and would encourage a large family that needs some get away time to take advantage. The main drawback for us was the lack of restaurants in town, although we did find many good spots a little farther away. If you like lobster (which we don't care for), the small restaurant right up the street looked good serving right on the dock over the water.

GREAT RENTAL ...

  • 5 of 5
We stayed for a week in the summer of 2011. The house was perfect for us. The drive to shopping wasn't too bad (everything in Maine is a drive away), but be sure to check out the already stocked beautiful kitchen - you may not need to buy too much! We had a family reunion with family members that live in Maine and the house was perfect and the deck was great with tons of seating for everyone. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners who are very nice and accommodating. The location is convenient to take a side trip to Acadia, but other touristy places to visit such as Boothbay, Camden, and Bar Harbor are quite a drive away. I only mention that in case others are looking to possibly head that way for a day trip. Overall this is a wonderful place to stay and I would highly recommend it.

WONDERFUL VACATION HOME AND BEAUTIFUL SPOT

  • 5 of 5
For the past 13 years we have explored different parts of Maine and rented a number of homes. This was our best experience! The location was wonderful for biking, kayaking and just relaxing with the kids. The house is well appointed, comfortable and tastefully renovated. The surrounding area of Surry and Blue Hill is great for exploring. We look forward to returning.
