Welcome to “Ms. Etta’s” House! Etta Wadley Watson was born in Cedar Key in 1908 and modeled with her own life the warmth, charm, and hospitality of her home. She loved to entertain friends, family and visitors and always wanted others to enjoy wonderful pictures of loved ones, view her beautiful yard, eat wonderful food, and to relax... and then relax some more. Upon her death her family decided to open her family home to those who are looking for a time of rest and relaxation and an opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty, the birds, the warm breezes, and the unique culture of the island. If you have never been to Cedar Key, you are in for a real treat.

CEDAR KEY AREA
A part of Florida’s “Nature Coast”, Cedar Key is a place like no other. Local activities available include fishing, kayaking, and boat excursions from the local marina, and golf cart, bike, and scooter rentals. Nearby Chiefland, Florida boasts a fine 18-hole golf course as well as Manatee Springs State Park – one of the largest fresh water springs in Florida (feeds into the Suwannee River). More information on Cedar Key is available at the Chamber of Commerce web site.
My sister and I own Ms. Etta's House in Cedar Key. Our mother loved to entertain and she was so charming, beautiful, and gracious that we decided to share our home with others in her name. We have a spacious home so we attract wonderful family groups who are celebrating birthdays, graduating from the University of Florida, quilting, reunions, or just getting away with friends for fellowship and relaxation. We get such wonderful feedback and returning guests ... how totally perfect. Come see us and we think you will want to return again and again.

Ms. Etta's House has been our family's favorite vacation spot for many years. When we think of relaxing, napping, fishing, boating, watching the birds, or just taking a long walk, we think of Cedar Key. We decided that Ms. Etta's House would be in our family's experience for generations to come. We maintain our home just like our beloved mother was still living there ... we love to remember the wonderful Cedar Key experiences with her.
Ms. Etta's House is spacious, comfortable and perfect for families or great friends. We enjoy the opportunity to share the main floor of the house with family and friends and retreat upstairs to the comfortable and private apartment. We love to get around the piano in the large living room and sing songs that warm our hearts. We love to watch the sea birds from the porch off the apartment or just enjoy the privacy of reading a good book and feel the breeze ... a taste of Old Florida at its best. The front porch and the swing are a favorite spot for morning coffee or visiting with family and friends. Our grandchildren love to lick the bowl as they watch their grandmother prepare great pies, cakes or pudding treats. The Gulf shore is just down the street complete with the most remarkable sunsets you can imagine ... perfect for photographers who like to capture unbelievable beauty. The house features ample parking for multiple cars and boats with a spacious lawn for children to run and play. There is just no place like Cedar Key if you really want to get away and relax.
This house was amazing. The house and everything in it was so clean! There can not be a better place to stay in Cedar Key. Jim was the best to deal with from booking through to leaving. Walking distance to everything.
We had a very memorable celebration for our mom's 80th birthday in Ms. Etta's house. We traveled from frigid OH, GA and also FL. The house truly felt like home! It was very clean, spacious and very well equipped. We enjoyed the family pictures displayed throughout the house, playing games, sharing wonderful meals and copying recipes from your books. We loved the location and watching sunsets at the end of the street. We visited shops and had a great meal at Tony's Seafood, including the famous clam chowder. The house owner is so thoughtful and making arrangements was easy. He checked in with us a couple of times during our stay. I would definitely recommend this property. Thank you, Jim and family, for sharing this lovely home with our family! ~ Kim & Jim

We gathered people from all over the country for my husband's 60th birthday party weekend. Eleven folks stayed at Ms. Etta's while the rest came and went throughout the weekend. Everything we could possibly need was provided and of excellent quality. The location was ideal--we walked everywhere! But even better was the feeling of not being at a rental but rather at a family home. Jim was a dream to work with--even when we threatened to change the locks so that we wouldn't have to leave! We have used VRBO throughout the US and Europe and this was undoubtedly one of our best rental experiences. I just hope it will be available in 2 years for MY 60th birthday!!
We recently had the opportunity to gather with friends for a long weekend at Ms. Etta's house, a great place to get away and relax. There were 9 of us including our 3 year old son. We were celebrating our friend, Cathy's, 50th birthday. The house was very spacious and comfortable. Ms. Etta's certainly accommodates a house full of people. It had EVERYTHING we needed and more. There were 2 refrigerators and a double oven on the main floor and even an additional full kitchen upstairs! We did our grocery shopping before we arrived but were able to pick up a couple things that were forgotten at the small grocery only a couple blocks away. Our son woke every morning and made a B-line for the sun-room because under the stairs was a "hideout" with a door just his size that was full of toys. One short block from the house is a nice path that runs along the shore all the way to shops, restaurants and Lil Sharky Park. On that route, we saw hundreds of monarch butterflies in migration and both sunsets AND sunrises because of the way that Cedar Key is oriented on the map. We took an air boat ride with Captain Robert with Flying Fish Adventures, ate Clam Chowder at Tony's and enjoyed hiking through the Lower Suwanee Trail. The purpose of our trip, however, was to spend time making memories with great friends, and we were able to do this in a house that felt like home!
This was the perfect place to have a family vacation. The house was large and accommodations great. Everything in the house was in good order. All bedding and bathroom supplies available with backup supplies in the laundry room. We did a fair amount of cooking and baking and found all kitchen supplies available. The location was a block from the Gulf and had a public launch area which was convenient since we rented kayaks for the week. Cedar Key is a totally walkable town and we only used a car once during our week stay. Loved it!
