We are Not in a far way suburb, Not on a commercial thorough fare and Not next to the highways (APS or 101) and not next to the rail road tracks. Please be sure to ask about this when comparing. We also offer rare private reserved parking which is needed for parking next to the beach. Relax on our large private deck and enjoy the beach and sun. Park your car and leave your worries behind

Great Value, Great Location, Great Property

This is a beautiful property that is exactly as advertised and 'pictured'. Very easy walk to the beach, Stearn's Wharf and the lovely downtown area, etc. It has all the modern amenities one needs for a relaxed, comfortable holiday. Far and away superior to any comparably-priced hotel stay!
The property was immaculately clean, well-maintained and very private with excellent and safe parking.
The owners provided great customer service in terms of communication prior to arrival, easy directions to the property and great suggestions for restaurants,etc.
Hearst Castle to the north is well worth the the drive, a trolley tour of Santa Barbara and neighboring Montecito is really helpful as an overview to the area and "Lotusland" is a totally unique and superb attraction not to be missed.
Our only suggestions would be that the owners eventually upgrade to High Definition TV and provide a movable three to four panel privacy screen for the back patio. (Then the property would get a rating of 6!!!).
We would most definitely recommend The Secret Getaway to family and friends without hesitation.
Great location, great place, great value for $ = Great holiday!!!

We are unique because we own and manage our own properties which are continously being improved. We added a 36" high definition TV - Thanks Dr. M for the grate suggestion!

My husband travels to Santa Barbara for business several times a year and stays at a high end hotel. I suggested staying in a vacation home rental on his most recent trip since we'd be there for the week. We couldn't have chosen better. Secret Getaway #8 was perfect for the 2 of us. Spacious, well-decorated and everything was top of the line, from the bedding to the wine glasses! The location was excellent, with close proximity to the wharf, beach and State Street, but located on a quiet street. The small complex has several water fountains that add to the tranquility of the property. Melanie and Todd we're very responsive to our questions and with follow up. We'd definitely stay here again

Family vacation...

My husband, 2-year old daughter and I stayed here for four nights during the first week of June 2009, and we would gladly stay there again during our next visit (and we will recommend it to our friends as well). It is, in a word, great!

It's as advertised: an ideal location, handsome layout, nice amenities, etc. The property is clean and attractive inside and out. Every room is welcoming and comfortable...my husband's favorite room is the bathroom, which is spacious and features a Jacuzzi. Parking was fine whether on the street or in the assigned spot behind the building.

Melanie & Todd are very kind and they provided clear instructions re. parking and finding the key, etc.

Our favorites...
Activities: Summerland beach, strolling around town and down by the water, shopping at Paseo Nuevo, hiking and biking, visiting the Santa Ynez Valley (winetasting, etc.).
Smoothies: Blenders in the Grass
Healthy, Cheap Eats: The Natural Cafe
Sushi: Arigato
Steak: Holdren's
Mexican: Carlito's (or Cava in Montecito) and Los Arroyos
Brewpub: Firestone's Tap Room in Buellton (unfiltered DBA is divine!)
Italian: Ca'Dario (or Pascucci w/ the kids)
Bar: Dargan's Irish Pub
Sandwich: Panino
