Escape from reality - July 2010

My husband and I stayed in 2603 for a week in July. We were more than happy to visit Grand Bahama Island and stay in the Coral Beach Condos during the "off-season" because right in the middle of summer, it was the most laid back vacation atmosphere. The condo was nicely furnished and suited our needs of sleeping/bathing/cooking just perfectly. Although the condo complex is older, our unit was fairly up to date with DVD player, wireless internet, cable, and a stereo. Before we arrived we had already planned on eating in quite a bit, which meant a trip to the grocery store.... asked a taxi driver about grocery store, and he took us to City Market (old winn dixie) DON"T go there. Go to Sawyer's Fresh Market or Thompson's Market. Either way, we cooked at the condo quite a bit, which saves on some $ since eating out is expensive. The best eating out we did was at the Coral Beach Bar & Grill right on the premises!!!!! Try the Crack' Conch--- delicious! We brought our own snorkels and spent most of our time in the water either at Coral Beach, Gold Rock Beach (Lucaya National Park) or at Paradise Cove. So much fun, and very affordable when you bring your own gear ($3 per person). For transportation, don't rely on the bus. We literally sat on the side of the road for 45 mins waiting for a bus/jitney, but it is cheap transportation for $1.25 ea. Taxis are expensive. $22 from Airport to Coral Beach. We ended up renting a scooter from the parking lot in Port Lucaya - not the yellow scooter rentals! ( they are 2 stroke, slow, and quite hideous) My husband drove me everywhere on the scooter and it was a great way to see the island. Overall, we had an excellent stay at the Coral Beach Condos and will be returning as soon as possible!
