REAL SKI IN - SKI OUT HIGH ON THE MOUNTAIN GREAT VIEWS

Mammoth Lakes Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

A truly unique location on Mammoth Mountain ! Timber Ridge is the highest location in Mammoth, looking down over Canyon Lodge and the Owens Valley. Ski in and ski out (down) to Chair 8 and Canyon Lodge or to Chair 15 & 24 at Eagle Express where lift tickets are sold and miss the lines at Canyon Lodge. (In the summer these same runs become a world class mountain bike trail). The condo has gorgeous views of the Sherwin Range from the living room and master bedroom. The clubhouse directly across from the condo features 'his and hers' saunas, a large spa and a summertime swimming pool. This small complex is surrounded by the national forest, creating a woodsy, remote atmosphere. Nightlife is down the hill (approximately 2 miles) where there are many excellent restaurants and bars.

Remodeled 'down to the studs' two years ago, the kitchen and bathrooms feature custom cabinetry and stone accents as well as heated travertine floors throughout (except for bedrooms where there is new carpet). Sitting in the living room in front of a roaring fire, the view is of surrounding forest and the Owens Valley below. The kitchen with it's custom cabinetry, new appliances and extensive cookware make it easy to stay in and enjoy a meal at home. The master bedroom invites escape with a flat screen tv, gorgeous view of the Owens Valley from the 4 poster bed and a 3/4 bath featuring a heated floor, custom stone accents and a frameless shower enclosure.

The second bedroom has heated, carpeted floors, mirrored wardrobes and a comfortable extra large chair and ottoman. The double twin trundle bed can be attached to become a king bed. Two large windows make the room light and airy.

The garage is attached with stairway access so there is never a need to unearth your car after a snowstorm. The association owns a snowplow/loader which plows our driveways immediately in the event of a storm.

After a day on the mountain, ski home thru the woods (there are trail markers on Bluejay and Chickadee pointing the way to Timber Ridge). Come home to hot drinks, a crackling fire and beautiful sunset views. Go for a soak and a sauna at the clubhouse across the driveway. Make dinner at home or go to one of the terrific restauants just down the hill.

Area activities include superb cross country skiing (just down Lake Mary Road at the Tamarack Cross Country Ski Center), snowmobiling, dog sledding, sledding and back country snowshoeing. Hot springs soaking is popular year around. Summer fun includes golfing, hiking, fishing, backpacking, mountain biking and horseback riding. We are located directly on the world class mountain bike trail that the winter ski runs become in the summer. There are several outlet shops in town including Ralph Lauren and Bass for the less motivated.

As a result of the mountain being developed the last few years, there are more great restaurants and nightlife all over town and on the mountain. Most of the lifts are high speed and enclosed. There is gondola service to the top and to a mid-mountain lodge where skiers and non-skiers can enjoy excellent food at a beautiful restaurant as well as great service at the less formal cafe.

Our favorites restaurants are Nevados and Tamarack Lodge (I never get tired of walking through the enclosed entry lined to the rafters on either side by firewood.) Tamarack is authentic old style lodge with a huge fireplace, lots of deep sofas and hot drinks. They serve French food and have a good wine list. Nevados is very good California cuisine and equally good drinks. A fun, less expensive restaurant we eat at is Angel's, just down the road. The Stove on Old Mammoth Road is an institution that serves huge breakfasts. Our favorite after ski is the Yodler across from Main Lodge. No amount of will power has kept us from Schaat's Bakery, a mecca of wonderful bread, gorgeous pastries, mountain size sandwiches and soups. There is a Schaat's in Bishop and another on the main road to the condo.

My family is crazy about any sport that delivers maximum thrills. We scuba, kayak, kite surf, wind surf, sail and of course, snowboard and ski. We live in Southern California near the beach. There are three of us and lots of relatives, especially in ski season.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1998

We found and bought our condo by accident. An old friend told us she was no longer able to endure the altitude and wanted to sell after thirty years (she was an original owner). We went to Mammoth and found that her condo was ON the ski runs and had a gorgeous view. At that time, Timber Ridge was relatively unknown to all but the locals. We were thrilled with the feeling of remoteness and being surrounded by the forest. My guys love skiing home for lunch and I like staying home drinking morning coffee looking at the great view. I love cross country skiing at Tamarack Ski Center which is right down Lake Mary Road

Real ski in ski out DOWN to two different lifts

A great view

A totally remodeled unit. New kitchen, new bathrooms, heated floors

Surrounded by forest on three sides

Everything was just perfect at this lovely 2 bedroom 2 bath condo. Right alongside the slopes, very clean and well stocked. Perfect place to relax by the fire after a great day of skiing. Kitchen has anything you need, the view is fabulous. The owner was an absolute pleasure to work with. Can't wait to return!

Great family experience

  • 5 of 5
Excellent experience, Diane was friendly and always responsive. The view was incredible and the location was a true ski-in, ski-out.
Firewood was included, and the wood stove added charm. Also, the kitchen was well stocked and the decor up to date and recently remodeled. Loved the heated floors and central humidifier! The condo managers were available on site for any eventualities, but none arose.

Great Family Condo!

  • 5 of 5
We had the pleasure of staying at the condo about 2 weeks ago. The condo was exactly as described on the website. It had everything we needed for being away from home. It was very spacious and I really liked how each bedroom had its own full bathroom. The condo had plenty of room for both me and my husband, my three daughters, and my parents. The sofa bed added plenty of sleeping space. The location was perfect for us. It did sit up high in a hill so we were kind of nervous to have our daughters ride their bikes down the hill. Instead we drove our car with the bikes to The Village and took the free trolley (the trolley has a bike trailer) up to Horseshoe Lake and rode all the way down the paved bike trails. The trail leads back to The Village. That is one our favorite things to do! The owner was very helpful and responded to my emails promptly. Overall we had an amazing time and we are looking forward to returning next year.

Summer Stay in Mammoth

  • 5 of 5
First, I have to say, this place was great. I highly recommend it for reasons I will state.

Mammoth in the summer is great. All the reviews I saw of this place we stayed were great but, in the winter. We were going in the summer. When I saw that picture of the beautiful pool, I was hooked, and boy did it come in handy. We went on the 4th of July weekend, during a heat wave.
On the 4th, we went to the 4th of July parade, Arts&Crafts Fair, (two days) it was great fun. There was a burger tasting challenge in town the next day from the different restaurants in town, that was fun.

There was much to do in the area, go to the lakes, go to Devil's Post Pile, and Rainbow Bridge, we went up to the main lodge at the ski resort and had lattes and sat in the lobby of the beautiful old carved wooden structure. Lots of people on bikes, you can rent them, and boats. Very active place.
We ate at the Stove for breakfast the food was tasty. We ate at Toomey's for dinner, I was disappointed, and Dad's pork was very dry. It was not as good as locals raved. The coffee place at the Ralph Lauren outlet had very good coffee and nice employees.

Timber Ridge itself was great, quiet, but lots of nice people around if you wanted to talk. My husband went to the lodge and worked out on a nice machine they have there, he liked it. Then we both took a jacuzzi and got into that beautiful refreshing pool. The pool is every bit as beautiful as it looks. It was great, got great sun too. We did this everyday we were there.

Everything in the place worked, the place was clean and very homey. There was a constant cross breeze of cool air, even in the mid-day. Didn't need air conditioning. We watched TV or movies at night. It was cool having a TV in our room away from Dad. We ate at home three nights and cooked out on the grill twice. There were enough dishes to use them all and only run the dishwasher once our whole stay.

The owner was very helpful with instructions, made everything easy. The place was great so we didn't need to contact her.

Great location...Great Place!

  • 5 of 5
We loved the condo, it had everything we needed and more. Very clean and comfy. We traveled with our two kids ages 6 and 12. The location was amazing...central to two main lodges. The ski in / out was great making it easy to swing by for lunch. The owner was a pleasure to work with...she answered all our questions and gave us great tips on how to make our trip even better. We would definitely recommend to our friends.

Good location - bad management!

  • 2 of 5
The best thing about this place is the ski in/ski out location. The trails are close to the condo and easy to find and use. The condo itself is has fairly dated decor (circa late 80s- early 90's) but is clean and cozy with a wood burning stove that heats up the place. The kitchen looks remodeled and is clean and nice, but when we went to make dinner it lacked some necessary items, i.e. a good big chopping knife, blender etc, so if you plan on cooking and need special utensils you might wanna ask what they have...that is, IF you can get a hold of them! This was our biggest issue with our experience here and why they get just 2 stars!

We had a couple issues that we needed to contact the owners about and they were completely, and quite rudely, unreachable! I called, emailed and texted them throughout the whole weekend we were there, by the end practically begging them to call or email me with answers to my questions and, to this day, I have not heard from them. Initially, the owner was really nice and very good about promptly returning my calls and emails, but once the money went through they were nowhere to be found.

If you rent this place, you better not lose your key, get lost, or have any serious problems with the condo because the owners apparently have no concern for you and your experience once they have your money. If nothing else, we found it to be very rude and unprofessional.

Owner's Response: Guests are aware the HOA managers who also manage my property live just a few feet away and are available to answer any questions including availability of late check out. Late check out is not always available when a new guest arrives the same day. Prior to arrival, sixteen emails were exchanged with the guest, the latest, three days prior to arrival.

Our unit was completely remodeled in 2009 with heated travertine floors, built in humidifier, custom cabinetry, stone work, granite countertops and new appliances throughout.

Any guest is encouraged to alert us if any equipment is missing. We recently replaced all cookware with a 20-piece All Clad cookware set and installed a second flat screen tv in the master bedroom.

The items the guest noted as missing in the review have been purchased. We work hard to make every guest's visit special. I'm sorry we did not succeed in this instance.

Just north of Mammoth we found people offering dog sled rides. It was just great, silently gliding thru the forest where no one had been but the dogs and their sled I think kids would really love it.

There is also a sledding park where person and sled is hauled up the hill to sled back down. .
