GORDES - BEAUTIFUL PROVENÇAL HOUSE - MAGNIFICIENT LUBERON VIEW

Gordes House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Le Chemin des Rêves is a wonderful Provençal property located just outside the magnificent perched village of Gordes, officially designated as one of the 'Most Beautiful Villages in France'. The very private house and garden sit on one hectare (2 1/2 acres) in the countryside and are perfectly positioned for easy access to all that Provence has to offer. The house is built of stone from the region and has a southwestern exposure with a stunning view of the Calavon Valley and of the Luberon and Les Alpilles mountains.

Le Chemin des Rêves has three beautiful and tastefully decorated bedrooms, each with en suite bathroom. All bedrooms were designed with comfort and privacy in mind. Each room is fully equipped with radio/alarm clock, linens, plush towels, body wash, hair dryer and tissues. The master bedroom suite also has a bathtub and an adjacent sitting room with fireplace and access to the terrace, garden and swimming pool.

The kitchen is well equipped with a five burner gas cooktop, oven with rotisserie, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer and microwave. You will find all the pots, pans, food processor, blender, toaster, coffee pot and all utensils required to prepare delicious meals using the products you will find in the local village markets. Market day in Gordes is Tuesday morning and the definitely not-to-be-missed farmer's market in Coustellet is on Sunday morning. The adjacent utility room has a washer, dryer and second refrigerator with freezer.

The dining room is furnished with beautiful oak furniture and the table can be expanded to seat 8-10 people comfortably. You will find all necessary linens are available for your use.

The living room, with it's massive stone fireplace and high ceilings with Provençal beams, is furnished with beautiful leather couches and chair. It also offers a truly beautiful view of the mountains and the valley.

The den/library is equipped with HDTV with SkyTV service, DVD player, CD player/radio, I-Pod player, WiFi service and copier/fax/printer. There is a vast collection of CD's and DVD's for your entertainment. In addition, the library is stocked with several hundred books and magazines for your enjoyment.

Our very private swimming pool is 11 x 5 meters and is a wonderful place for family fun or swimming laps. There are 8 comfortable pool loungers where you can relax after a dip in the pool and read or just take a nap.

In the pool house you will discover a BBQ with rotisserie (wood is provided), a small refrigerator, sink and comfortable furniture for relaxing. This is a wonderful place to enjoy a meal cooked on the BBQ and watch the beautiful Provençal sunset.

At the rear of the house you will find the herb garden and a stone picnic table where you can enjoy leisurely meals in the shade of the oak trees.

Relaxing on the terrace is a great place to put your feet up and enjoy a glass of local rosé after a day of exploring the many villages, markets, restaurants, wineries, historical sites and all that Provence has to offer.

Planted in the garden are 60+ olive trees, 300+ lavender plants, many varieties of flowers, bushes and native trees which add a lovely dimension of color to the landscape. As you walk around the garden you will enjoy the aromas of Provence...wild thyme, rosemary and savory. While on your way through the gardens you will also discover an ancient stone borie, which is a fine example of the bories that dot the landscape in this area. If you like, you can visit the Village of the Bories which is just up the road from Le Chemin des Rêves.

We invite you to experience Le Chemin des Rêves and discover the perfect location for your dream vacation. The walled city of Avignon is just a 30 minute drive; the beautiful village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape, which is surrounded by the vines of some of the premier wine makers in the world, is only a 40 minute drive from the property. In an hour or less you can be in the Camargue or in Arles, visit the Pont-du-Gard or the Roman theater in Orange, go to Aix-en-Provence or visit the ancient city of Marseille. Your choices are unlimited! Let your curiosity lead you toward wonderful discoveries: Roman ruins, historic perched villages, village markets, outdoor concerts, fabulous restaurants, castles, wineries and much, much more. Just choose a road to follow and discover something new everyday.

Guestbook comments from the manager
Hi Beverly,

We were simply DELIGHTED with our stay in every single way. The property was even better in person (it looked great on the internet but you never know until you see it). I noticed in the comment book someone said "it's more like staying at a friend's home than a rental property" - those words are perfectly said. SO true!!

Between the service you provided us all the way along, and the property being completely first rate, we could not have been happier!

Perfect perfect stay. And I neglected also to mention how much I really enjoyed the library! I read most of my things on Kindle so I downloaded a few of the books that they had - fantastic.

Please pass on our sincere thanks to the owners for making their little gem available to us :-)

All the best,

Sharon

PERFECT HOLIDAY HOME

  • 5 of 5
The best equipped rental holiday property we have ever visited. The views were mesmerising and the terrace was perfect for relaxing after a day spent exploring the wonderful hilltop towns.
Beverly was very helpful in every way and we left having felt that we had made a friend.
The villa and gardens "blew us away" - and so did the Mistral!!!!

A MAGICAL PLACE

  • 5 of 5
Great location. A 25-minute walk to Gordes. Property is lovingly cared for. Flowers, landscaping, herb garden, olive trees, lavender (alas, not in bloom when we were there). Loved the layout of the house. It easily accommodates three couples and has lots of room for everyone to spread out and have private time when needed.

Could have just relaxed there all day by the pool taking in the mountain and valley views, but took some day trips. Biked to Rousellin, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Abbaye de Sénanque, then Gordes. Car trips included Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Avignon.

Definitely for serious cooks. We all went to the Coustellet Farmers Market on Sunday, and then the Gordes market on Tuesday and had some memorable meals out on the porch (wonderful sunsets). One of the most well-equipped kitchens in a rental that I have ever seen. (And a nicely-appointed grill area, although we ended up not using it.)

HIghly recommended.

EVERYTHING WE HAD HOPED FOR ... AND MORE

  • 5 of 5
We had an absolutely wonderful week in Provence at Le Chemin des Rêves, and cannot speak highly enough of this home. As many have said before us, the beautiful photos don't even do justice to the house and property. Every detail has been considered, the views are spectacular and the location superb. We felt truly at home, and didn't even have the opportunity to enjoy much of the inside of the house as it was 35+ and sunny every day! We loved our trips to the local markets in the morning (particularly Coustellet on a Sunday - wonderful way to stock up for the week), we cycled and walked up to Gordes a few times and we toured a number of the sites mentioned in the well prepared notes in the house. Our favourite restaurants were Mas de Tourteron just down the hill (very special) and La Terrasse in nearby Goult (excellent in every way and not too expensive). We also enjoyed many glasses of rose, lunches and dinners on the terrace at Le Chemin de Reves - taking in the fantastic views. And croissants of course every morning! Our children (12 and 10) enjoyed the house and surrounding areas as much as we did, and we would all love to return one day if our travels (from Vancouver Canada) every take us back to France. Thank you Gary, Cathy and Beverley for helping us enjoy probably our best family holiday so far!

MEMORABLE!

  • 5 of 5
Our first time in Provence was perfected by this lovely accommodation so much so that we were tempted to spend each day by the pool rather than head out to explore. As others have said, the photos do not convey what a special property Le Chemin des Reves truly is! The Collins have shared their home with you not a rental property. Every detail has been carefully considered and provided for from luxury towels and bedding to market baskets, and candles. If you cannot relax and enjoy yourself in this setting, then you won't be able to anywhere because that is what this property invites.
We enjoyed our excursions to the Coustellet Saturday market, the Provence golf course, the Fontaine de Vaucluse and surrounding villages. Our favourite outing was a day trip rafting the spectacular Gorges du Verdon with dinner in Moustiers St Marie. Most nights we used the BBQ and ate on the porch enjoying the beautiful view of the Luberon Mountains. Although there are 'touristy' things to do in the area, one never feels they are in a tourist destination as it is not a commercial area. Both the owner and the property manager are prompt and pleasant to offer any assistance / information necessary. We had a most memorable week in Provence at Le Chemin des Reves. Many thanks!

WOW - AMAZING!

  • 5 of 5
took my family to europe for 6 weeks and we spent 5 nights at this spot - it was definitely one of our highlights. the home is simply beautiful - we didn't want to leave. so close to everything but in many ways - you don't want to leave at all. swimming in pool, drinking wine on the porch - hard to beat. i'd go back in a second - in fact, I'd move to this home if I could. you will NOT regret it.

WONDERFUL VACATION HOME

  • 5 of 5
We had an amazing holiday staying at Chemin des Reves just outside Gordes. The property was even better in person than the photos and description on Home Away. We loved this immaculate and well-equipped home with beautiful views fom every window. It was a pleasure to communicate with the owners and the property manager from beginning to end. The lavender was in full bloom during our stay, and the weather was perfect! The home is ideally located just outside Gordes, and close to beautiful and charming Provencal villages. We thoroughly enjoyed every apect of this incredible property. We can't wait to return again next year, and highly recommend this extraordinary home/property.
