Heavenly

Our biggest question was how will 4 active older teens respond to a "get away" place?
They (we) all loved it! All of us were taken in by the water front natural beauty where you can see the mountains and Bar Harbor on the horizon and occasional seal right from the back deck. The occasional working lobster boats trolling by gave a genuine local flavor to our scenic view.
This "cottage" is really more of a well equipped house and ample room for the 6 of us. Great privacy set up with 3 main sleeping area and bathroom on each floor (full bath on 1st floor next to master BR.) Very clean, well maintained house and the owners have seen to every detail you need for a comfortable stay. This really cuts down on what you need to pack, btw.
Modern conveniences and retail stores all within 7 miles. Plan on a 30-45 minute drive to Acadia Nat'l Park most popular locations. We took a full day and a half to just "crash" and had a lot of fun with games, a good book and a long nap! Of course, technology followed us and my son was able to play his favorite DVD's for us through their good sized TV.
Suggest you plan to arrive before dark as the last 5 miles is not street lit - may be tricky to catch the final couple of turnoffs. Plus you'll want to see the view at sunset!
I could envision this as a great place for a writer's retreat, very suitable for active families like ours, or a romantic couples getaway. It really is a beautiful versatile place for anyone simply wanting the feeling of getting away from it all and enjoying the natural beauty of coastal Maine and/or Acadia National Park one of the top 10 most visited parks in the country.
