Lamoine is a small coastal community located at the head of Frenchman's Bay in Hancock County, Maine. Lamoine was settled in the 1760's and was a major ship building community prior to the civil war. Near Ellsworth and Bar Harbor, it offers plentiful shopping and dining options nearby. Only 30 minutes from Acadia National Park for phenomenal hiking and sight seeing. Minutes from two public golf courses. Deep sea fishing, whale watching, and sailing tours are available in nearby Bar Harbor. Lamoine State Park is close by, in an ocean side setting with picnicking, dock, and boat access. Marlboro Beach, a coarse sand beach, is in walking distance from the cottage. The perfect secluded cottage on the water!

Stbren Waukee, Iowa
Review Submitted: October 13, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We absolutely loved this cottage!! It was secluded but yet about 10 minutes to town and only 20 minutes to Arcadia Park. It had everything you needed and was just perfect for us. It was hard to leave each day to go sightseeing, etc as it was the best place to just sit back and relax. The view was amazing!!! So quiet and peaceful!! We will definitely go back!!! Keith and Michele were always helpful with any questions we had prior to our trip and they really have thought of all the necessities that you would need while away from home!! We are so glad we took this trip to Maine and so very happy with the cottage! It was just perfect!!!

beautiful home overlooks quiet bay

Dave & Elizabeth Montreal, Canada
Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Just as we found the driveway to this wooded house, a deer appeared. Each morning, as we sipped coffee on the back deck, the moans of diving loons greeted us. There was even a hummingbird feeding on nectar on the deck...
This home overlooks some huge flat rocks onto the ocean. The house itself is a dream-- with exquisite little treasures like urchin shells and starfish,as well as books on nature--and is very bright because of the many large windows. The entrance path is lined with Black-eyed Susans and other wildflowers.
The kitchen has spices, a teapot; plenty of pots and pans; plates, silverware etc., as well as many utensils. (We easily cooked meals.)The sitting room includes a cable TV and some classic movies. The upstairs bedrooms have access to a second deck (for reading in the sun?). Both bathrooms were set up nicely and were very clean. Paintings and prints on the walls echo the 'feel' of the ocean. The decor and little knick-knacks, as well as the bedrooms, more than met our expectations.
Nearby spots include Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, a huge used bookstore and lobster restaurants. Still, this is a very pristine area of Maine.
We really enjoyed our time here and highly recommend this rental. The combination of the gorgeous view, the privacy, and the very comfortable house make this a lovely place to relax...

Heavenly

Denny and Kim Honeoye Falls, NY
Review Submitted: July 21, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Our biggest question was how will 4 active older teens respond to a "get away" place?
They (we) all loved it! All of us were taken in by the water front natural beauty where you can see the mountains and Bar Harbor on the horizon and occasional seal right from the back deck. The occasional working lobster boats trolling by gave a genuine local flavor to our scenic view.

This "cottage" is really more of a well equipped house and ample room for the 6 of us. Great privacy set up with 3 main sleeping area and bathroom on each floor (full bath on 1st floor next to master BR.) Very clean, well maintained house and the owners have seen to every detail you need for a comfortable stay. This really cuts down on what you need to pack, btw.

Modern conveniences and retail stores all within 7 miles. Plan on a 30-45 minute drive to Acadia Nat'l Park most popular locations. We took a full day and a half to just "crash" and had a lot of fun with games, a good book and a long nap! Of course, technology followed us and my son was able to play his favorite DVD's for us through their good sized TV.

Suggest you plan to arrive before dark as the last 5 miles is not street lit - may be tricky to catch the final couple of turnoffs. Plus you'll want to see the view at sunset!

I could envision this as a great place for a writer's retreat, very suitable for active families like ours, or a romantic couples getaway. It really is a beautiful versatile place for anyone simply wanting the feeling of getting away from it all and enjoying the natural beauty of coastal Maine and/or Acadia National Park one of the top 10 most visited parks in the country.

Truly a Treasure

Narwhal Maine, US
Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
This property matched and even exceeded our best hopes for a vacation rental. A warm and welcoming home-away-from-home in every sense of the word. The setting is very beautiful, and with a kind of privacy - that rarest of all commodities in these times - almost unknown to most of us. This may sound like exaggeration, but it is not.

Peaceful, private, lovely, comfortable!

Dede C Pittsford, NY
Review Submitted: June 2, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
This is a difficult review to write, only because we loved everything!!! We totally enjoyed our week's stay... the home is so the well-equipped, everything was comfortable, clean and like new.. the home is set in a very private yet very accessible spot.. The peaceful scenery from the deck was gorgeous.. we hated to leave on our daily jaunts to Acadia National Park.. There's so much to do.. even if you just want to take in daily walks... you'll love it. There's no doubt in our mind that we'll return.. it was a dream getaway for us.
