About Yuki

Why Yuki chose Waikoloa Beach Resort

This property was purchased for family use with occasional rentals. We wanted this property to not only be family friendly but work capable for people needing to work remotely while on vacation.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a wonderful time in paradise. We loved the condo and Hali'i Kai is one of the most beautiful places we've ever found. The condo is very well equipped with everything we needed for the beach, plenty of books for me to read by the pool, and DVD players in both the living room, and second bedroom.

We went on a Zip Line tour over Umauma Falls and had the time of our lives. We will definitely be back and next year and we will stay longer.

Nice Looking Condo, Not So Nice Basics

  • 4 of 5

We arrived at the condo for our 3rd stay at this resort. The condo looked like the other one we rented in years past, which was great, but didn't really meet our expectations in terms of two basic things: cleanliness and amenities. First, the cooktop wasn't clean. Next, the coffee maker, including the carafe, looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years. I thought the carafe was suffering from permanent staining until I washed it and it came clean with minimal effort. The coffee maker itself may be a lost cause. Third, the dishwasher smelled like rotting food. There's no way anyone "cleaning" the unit could have missed these things. We ran the dishwasher to make the smell go away, and, in doing so, used the one and only dishwasher pod left in the unit. After calling and texting twice (the manager Yuki is very nice), the housekeeper finally arrived and shoved a ziplock bag of pods into the open door and turned to walk away without so much as an Aloha. As for amenities, the towels were plentiful, but some of them were either not washed or not properly dried. Two of the towels we attempted to use had a very foul smell. Again, there's no way to have missed the smell. Finally, for a two bedroom unit being rented to 4 people, there were two half rolls of toilet paper on the holders and one replacement roll. I understand that the owners are supplying enough of the basics to get the renters started, but I've never rented a condo this size that had the equivalent of only two rolls of toilet paper. We aren't letting these things ruin our vacation, but the condo didn't make a good first impression.

Owner's Response: Dear Guest. We really appreciate your review as we take it seriously. Although the unit was cleaned we apologize on behalf of the cleaning crew to miss these points. We will make sure to check all points and to keep the dishwasher slightly opened for future guests. Thank you again. Management team

Perfect for Families

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were traveling with our 22 year old niece and our 2 young boys, 15 mos and 3 yrs old. This was the perfect condo for us- clean and 'as advertised'. The only thing we never could find was a crib sheet...so we improvised a little. We never called the 'front desk' which was our decision. The 'toy' closet was well-stocked (beach mats, beach towels, sand toys, balls, snorkel set, tennis balls, bocce ball, cooler bags, beach bags, etc). We made some 'donations' when we left of sand toys, a boat, blow-up toys for the pool, beach mats, can coolies, etc. Didn't want to haul it all home! We ended up renting a 2-seater wagon, tricycle, high chair and baby back pack from Dorkel's Snorkel in Waikoloa Village. A high chair would have been great if it had been available and we really found one necessary for a 15 mos old. The wagon was great for hauling the kids and their stuff to the pool area. Our only complaint about the pool was it was always much colder than the ocean! But the kids enjoyed it and it was nice that there was an area that our 15 mos old could walk around in in his floatie (very shallow in that part).

The location is nice- not the closest too the pool but an OK walk. But a great place to be on the Kohala Coast. And after we learned how to get to the condo the 'back way' via the road that turns off to the right immediately after the WBR area entrance, it made 'coming and going' that much easier. My husband (and a friend who was also staying on the island at the same time) also enjoyed the golf discount immensely and preferred the King's course. A big plus for sure!

The Master Bed was very comfy (I like a soft bed) but I could see how it might be 'too soft' for some. We liked that the Master was on the opposite end of the condo. The twin bed my niece used (near the closet) in the other bedroom seemed really 'noisy' for some reason. We couldn't figure out why after examining it. She just had to be careful not to toss and turn too much or she woke up the baby. The bed my 3 year old used seemed much quieter.

We also enjoyed the lanai in the am and at night after the kids had gone to to bed to relax or play cards. We used the grill one night too (and one night we used the grill at the pool to have a sunset dinner).

The kitchen was pretty well-stocked, too with spices, olive oil, etc. We had to buy some salt so we left a large container of that behind as well. Plus some paper plates.

We would highly recommend this property to anyone!

So Worth it!! Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This villa had everything we needed all the amenities mentioned!!! We enjoyed our stay here! It was clean, cozy and convenient! Beaches and market place really close, you could even walk to the market place for a starbucks coffee and just enjoy the walk on your way there. I would book this place again in a heart beat when visiting the Big Island again! Thank you so much!

Holiday in Paradise

  • 5 of 5

4 of us (all adults) stayed at this beautiful 2-bedroom condo for 10 days from Nov 3-13, 2010. Everything was as advertised. Very comfortable, well appointed and extremely clean. It was a lovely home for our stay. The bonus for me was the great rates I was able to get at the two Waikoloa Golf Courses where the owners have a Gold Membership which affords their visitors a huge savings. The Hali Kai Resort is amazing (the grounds are immaculate) and we spent many wonderful hours at the Ocean Club Recreation facility where we enjoyed the pools, hot tub and the spectacular views! The owners were responsive to our needs and very attentive. We'll be heading back here someday soon!
