Napa House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 2-6)

License # 27745 VR09-0047

Casa Alta is a three bedroom two bath Mediterranean inspired home located in a charming neighborhood near Napa's downtown. The house has been recently renovated and will welcome you with its gleaming hardwood floors, freshly painted interior and exterior arched doorways and curved ceilings. Each bedroom is appointed with a luxurious queen sized, pillow top mattress, fine linens and cozy bedding. High quality furniture, antiques and many original works of art are around every corner. Sit at the desk where you can make unlimited local and long distance phone calls, plan your day, peruse the guest book or connect your computer to wireless internet access.

Enter the house through your private courtyard shrouded in potted plants, climbing wisteria and Olive Trees. The back yard is a world all it's own with flagstone patio, hot tub, charcoal barbecue, and partially enclosed outdoor dining room and sitting area. If it's cool, light a fire inside or enjoy the outdoor fireplace. Listen to the sound of the fountain running, read a book or take a nap in the outdoor daybed.

Take a ten minute walk to the incredible Oxbow Market, which houses six restaurants, coffee shop, a wine and cheese merchant, an actual distillery, bakery, tea shop, chocolatier, spices, butcher shop, fresh seafood, organic ice cream, olive oil, gifts and more. Catch the wine trolley from here or board the wine train nearby or continue on to Napa's downtown, where choices abound from day spas, theater, wine tasting rooms and shopping to a plethora of world class restaurants.

Hundreds of wineries are a short drive away, many in the beautiful Carneros region or the Stags Leap wine district, both within five miles. Take flight in a hot air balloon, ride the wine train or hire a tour company to pick you up at Casa Alta and explore.

This is the Napa Valley Lifestyle!

About Belinda Cappelli

I bought my first vacation rental in 2005. I love traveling and never realized what a great way to vacation it was to stay in homes until I had made the purchase. The Napa Valley is such a wonderful lifestyle, and I am always so excited to share the experience with visitors.

Belinda Cappelli purchased this house in 2001

Why Belinda Cappelli chose Napa

This was my first home, and I loved it. It had all the things I wanted ~ I was able to walk to town, it had hardwood floors and lots of charm and plenty of space in the backyard. I worked for years to make it just the way that I wanted it. Then I fell in love and moved in with my sweetheart. The house is almost entirely as it was when I enjoyed living there so much.

What makes this house unique

Walk to the Oxbow Market every morning for fresh pastries, incredible coffees and teas! Relax in the back yard and really settle in. Prepare a wonderful meal and enjoy it on the patio or just share a bottle of wine and some conversation. It's a great, relaxing space with fireplace, daybed, hot tub and flowers.

Overall great house, few downsides

  • 4 of 5

Overall this house really is very nice. Beds and linens were amazingly comfortable and nice quality, especially for a rental--which for me is hugely important. Backyard/ lanai area was a favorite place to stay; started every morning with coffee and breakfast out there and loved it! Bathrooms were good. Downsides: hot tub is really dated and firepit was unusable. Back screen is completely blown out (metal screen broken) so smoke just went everywhere. Never used it after first try, which BTW, wood is not supplied.

As a prior reviewer noted, there are small things in house that could really use attention. The microwave is REALLY old and loud, and there wasn't even salt and pepper in the house. Several other nit-picky things, but agree that furnishings are nice and house was very clean. Plenty of wine glasses :)

Last note which was very surprising to us: House is at stop sign on corner of moderately busy street. Could hear cars rev their engines leaving stop sign as early as 4:30, and continued until we woke at 6:30-7:00. Garbage day was the worst!

But, overall we enjoyed our ladies wine tasting trip!

Highly Recommended

This is our first time renting a VRBO and had a great experience. Casa Alta is cozy and perfect for three couples. We loved having a drive way to park our rental vehicle. I,unfortunately, forgot my bag with all my toiletries (including make-up) at Casa Alta the day we continued our vacation into San Francisco. I realized my bag was missing later that evening after we had delivered our rental car. Cherie was so kind to communicate promptly with me and arranged for my bag to be mailed home. We are VERY grateful for outstanding customer service. Hopefully we will visit Napa again and stay at Casa Alta! Thank you!!!

Little slice of Napa

  • 5 of 5

Bellinda's home is just lovely. Quaint and cozy with little touches here and there. We spent a lot of time at the house enjoying the hot tub and playing cards. Cooked in the kitchen and went to oxbow market which is so close. Just a great time thank you again!

Nice, but...

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I rented Casa Alta for a week to celebrate the holidays with our adult children. We have used VRBO many times and also rent our own cottage through them, so we may have a more critical lens through which we viewed our visit there. First, the location and size of the house were great – easy walking distance to downtown Napa, and a not-too-bad commute to San Francisco. A highlight of the property is a lovely lanai in the backyard, complete with dining area and a wonderful hot tub. The house is furnished thoughtfully, with each bedroom having its own theme/color scheme. But high-end frills can’t make up for neglected basics, and this is where our visit was disappointing. In our experience, a hallmark of renting through VRBO is cleanliness, and while furniture and floors were polished and linens were clean, the kitchen had a dirty teapot with old water in it on the stove. A kitchen drawer nearly fell out of its runners and utensils included a greasy wine opener and other items that were pitted or broken. The sink sponge was caked with food and smelled of mildew. But the worst problem was a persistent odor in the bedrooms that smelled like a sweaty football team had been smoking old cigars in the rooms with the doors and windows closed. No amount of airing out, Febreeze spray or potpourri could dissipate the smell. My son pointed out that a heating vent in the hallway leading to the bedrooms was filthy and perhaps that was the source of the smell. In any case, the smell was there when we arrived and kept us company throughout our visit. Toward the end of the stay, the top-of-the-line refrigerator stopped cooling and began making a cranking noise. We unplugged the unit and called the owner, who was very apologetic. In short, this is a very nice property in a fabulous location. The owners might do well to close it for a week, do a deep cleaning, and make sure that fresh soap and clean utensils greet their guests.

Owner's Response: I was sorry to hear that the kitchen was not as shiny as it should have been. I went through the drawers and there was a cracked wooden spoon and broken ice cream scoop that have been replaced. I've instructed my housekeeper to be sure to clean the teapot and replace the sponges if needed. There are always extras under the kitchen sink too. The musty smell, which I've had a couple of people comment on, is a result of a leak developed in the roof in a big storm in December 2014. The water got into the attic and ceiling and, I believe, caused a musty odor in one of the bedrooms. The roof is scheduled for replacement in February of 2015. I'm going to run heaters and fans in the attic during that time to make sure that everything is dry and odorless! I'm very sorry that it bothered my guests. Lastly, the refrigerator is high end and is new and it's been a big problem! If you are reading this and you rent the house, please be very conscientious about closing the door completely! There is a note on the door asking guests to push it closed, but if you fail to create a good seal (it should do this automatically!) it will frost up and stop cooling ;-(

Excellent Rental in Napa!!!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second time I've rented Casa Alta for a girl's weekend and would not hesitate to rent it again. The house is adorable and very true to the photos! There was plenty of space for 5 women. We especially loved the backyard living space and hot tub! The location is perfect for dining within Napa or as a base for a day of visiting wineries. Belinda has lots of local info in the house as well as is very responsive to questions. Can't wait to go back again!!

Quaint, Convenient, Charming!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Casa Alta at the end of April. There were 4 of us in our party (myself, my fiance, his mom, and my mother). This house was simply wonderful!!

It was conveniently located to downtown Napa, and served as a great "home base" for getting up and down the valley to the different wineries we visited.

Had a problem with the kitchen sink on the 2nd night (wasn't draining), but we called the owner, and she sent a plumber over the very next day to fix it. That was the only problem we had the whole time.

The house itself is very nice. 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, enough for the 4 of us. Plenty of space to spread out in the common areas, and the backyard patio was really nice. The kitchen worked out just fine, the only "issue" was the weird "island" they have in the middle of the kitchen. I feel like they could get a bigger unit to put in the kitchen. That would allow for more counter space, and balance out the size of the room (it was a LARGE kitchen!!).

We only used the hot tub once, but it was well worth it after a day of sitting in the car and visiting wineries!

All in all, a great visit and a great stay! We would definitely consider staying here again on a future visit to Napa!
