Gorgeous comfortable location in the perfect setting...
My choice for the best bed & breakfast, by owners Glen & Deb. The comfort of being in their home is to enjoy all of the authentic Mexican furniture and artwork they have collected. The breakfast is divine and coffee with added cinnamon. I stayed in the Hibiscus Room this time and it was very nice, with private bath. Divine poolside is surrounded with gorgeous native plant-life and palms. I was lucky to have Glen and Deb as hosts so I could learn about all the great places and adventures to fit into my short vacation which included shopping the markets to whale watching. This five star casa is located in a quiet residential area on the beach, but has easy walking to many wonderful beach restaurants. I sunned on the beach, in what Deb calls her front yard, just across the road down by the palms. Following the gentle waves, I walked Gracie the wonder dog, turning right toward the jetty and statue of Guadalupe, then passing a little further to meet up with the Malecon promenade at the entrance into La Penita, the town next door. When one turns left, from Deb’s front yard toward the Guayabitos beachside, you will find authentic Mexican food among the many outdoor places to sit, eat and enjoy the beach food and fun. All of Mexico calls Guayabitos beach “The swimming pool” because of the gentle current, as well as small waves for family fun. Back at the Casa, I watched Deb as she prepared meals! Her CasaCookingclasses.com is thriving and filling quickly! She makes it look easy and knows where to find the finest ingredients, after 10 years of living in Guayabitos. In fact, Deb is highly respected for her cooking class as I discovered when we went to a new restaurant in town. Gracie was with us so we sat outside in view of the large courtyard and brightly painted murals. All of the sudden, a chef came out to our table and presented himself for our praise; and then I realized he was paying them respect. As Deb introduced Glen and herself, he said “I know who you are,” smiling as he bowed to Deb. I learned about several great restaurants from Deb and Glen. I wanted to try them all but of course with my vacation limited to 5 days I did not have enough time.....great excuse to return!
