My family and I (10 of us total) rented this house in hopes for a great family vacation! That was not the case, upon arrival we found that the cable was not working, House had a really bad smell to it - we assumed it was because it had been closed up for some time, I believe there were 2 wooden chairs outside on the patio which one was broken, and some furniture was not very clean. During our stay a water pipe broke in the kitchen which resulted in some minor flooding - our family ultimately ended up leaving earlier then planned - when we contacted the landlord about the broken pipe we did not receive a call back until a day later. We asked for reimbursement for us leaving earlier then planned due to the broken pipe and disappointing conditions of the rental and were told we would only receive our deposit back. We have used Homeaway in the past and had great luck, but this time it was very disappointing!!!!
Owner's Response: We took care of the plumbing problem, had the plumber to the house, the next day. It was not until I called to find out if the plumber had fixed the problem to the renters satisfaction that I found out that they left early, which is why I refused to refund any of their money, as they did not communicate with me. I have not had any complaints regarding the smell of the house, and I do not understand this complaint as there are no smells/odors once the house is cleaned.
