OUR OLD MILL FOR YOUR HOLIDAYS IN TUSCANY

Cavriglia Villa Rental Photos and Description

Country House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

The Mulino di Rimaggio is a XVIII C. water mill transformed in 3 elegant apartments, each one with its own character and charm. After a meticulous restoration the Mill has been awarded the status of protected historical building. The names of the 3 units evoke the old use or setting of their rooms: HAY LOFT, MILL STONES, STREAM.

The surrounding perfumed garden attracts many species of butterflies, bees and other insects as well as frogs and toads that are the joy of the children in the summer time.

The wide infinity swimming pool occupies the space of the mill pond and it is fed by a water fall of spring water. Parasol and sun beds offer comfort to the guests.

The Mill nestles in a rural well preserved area on the Valdarno slopes of the Chianti Hills. Ideally located in the centre of the Tuscan Golden Triangle of the three world wide famous art cities Firenze, Arezzo and Siena that can be reached in less than an hour, by car or train. Perfect location for daily excursions in Tuscany for wine/food tasting and art tours. Outlets of the most famous fashion designers are 20 minutes far.

The front side of the house faces the swimming pool, the garden area and the beautiful hill of Montegonzi that offers breathtaking sunsets.

On the East side the view opens on the valley and the Pratomagno on the Appennines Mountains.

On the back side a bubbling stream lined by tall walnuts, poplars and a wild thick woods populated by birds, squirrels, woodpeckers assure tranquillity and relaxing atmosphere.

The little village of Montegonzi overlooking the property has grocery and a good trattoria.

Cavriglia 3km far has shops and facilities for all needs; more shops and stores in Montevarchi, 8 km far.

In the 3 apartments the modern comfort mixes with the warmth of the old family furniture and quality materials of the architecture. Each one has its own private open space with parasol , dining table and sun chairs.

HAY LOFT: 2 bedrooms- 2 bathrooms -This apartment occupies the part of the building that was used to store the hay and other fodders for the animals for the winter time.

On 2 levels connected by an easy staircase. On the ground floor there is a sunny kitchen with windows on 3 sides opening on the front patio, a spacy living room with fireplace, a twin bedded room with adjacent bathroom with shower cabin. On the upper floor a stunning double bedded room with brickworks on 3 sides with adjacent bathroom with shower cabin.

MILL STONES: 3 bedrooms - 2 bathrooms - It is the central apartment, where once the mill stones operated. On 3 levels connected by easy staircases. On the ground floor there is the spacy kitchen and the living room with fireplace that opens on the private garden. On the upper floor a twin bedded room with adjacent bathroom with shower cabin, a double bedded room with bathroom with shower cabin en suite; this floor has access to the pool area. The little Torretta has twin beds, ideal for kids.

STREAM: 2 bedrooms - 2 bathrooms - The apartments runs along the bank of the stream. On 2 levels connected by an easy staircase. On the ground floor a large spacy kitchen and dining area opening on the private garden, a cozy living room with fireplace, a bathroom with shower cabin. On the upper floor a double bedded room, a bathroom with shower cabin, a twin bedded room that has access to the pool edge.

This is a place for relax and easy life, out of the noise of the modern time; ideal for visitors who need to break with the ordinaire life routine for a while. No internet or pay TV. A perfect location to discover and enjoy the sounds and the colours of nature: birds songs, the wind through the woods and the olive grove, the bells of the Montegonzi church, fiery sunsets over the hills, the farmers' chatting in the vineyards.....

We are at the doors of the Chianti area, world wide known for wine tasting, slow food, cooking schools, weekly food markets.

We'll be glad to help you to discover the pleasure of our food delicacy as well as the tresures of our regional art and history.

Day trips by train to Florence or Arezzo will immerge you in the Reinassaince culture as well as Siena, only 40 minutes driving.

The Montevarchi Thursday open market will give you the flavour of the ordinaire local daily life and a good occasion to buy fresh organic food directly from the farmers. Brolio, Volpaia, Badia di Coltibuono or Montalcino offer daily wine tasting.

The slow pace of the Chianti towns will be an alternative for shorter excursions when you want to spend more time at home, by the pool.

We love to spend some time with our guests, sometimes cooking togheter or offering you tours of Florence or just chatting of local life by the pool.

We'll be very happy to help you planning your time at the Mill with information on trains schedules, museums reservations, local festivals and events.

Pisa airport is 2 hours driving, Firenze airport 1 hour driving, the A1 motorway exit Valdarno is 12 km. far. The closest local train station is Montevarchi.

Guestbook comments from the owner
When you roll the dice from thousands of miles away on a rental property

rarely are you as pleasantly surprised as my wife and I were with our

experience at Mulino Di Rimaggio. The correspondence with Francesca prior

to the visit was courteous and professional. Upon arrival, the property was

actually more beautiful than displayed on the website. All of the amenities

within our unit (the Hayloft) and on the property are 1st class and well worth

the rental price. What made our trip truly special was that we felt like friends

versus rental customers. I would strongly recommend Mulino and we look

forward to coming back as soon as we can!

Gloria and Francesca: our life styles and experiences are very different, and thanks to this 'mixed blessing' at beginning of the nineties with our husbands we decided to embark on our incredible adventure that has brought new life to our Mulino di Rimaggio.

Passionately in love with Tuscany, enthusiastic about its history and territory and ready to share our knowledge with you so you too can have your own special memories of our mill and its surroundings.

Francesca and Gloria purchased this villa in 1990

We were wandering in the area when we saw an abandoned building nestling in a little valley next to a small uncontaminated stream....we decided to have a closer look ..... and we felt in love with it, luckily it was on sale !

Mulino di Rimaggio is in a rural area, away from the most crowded and visited towns of the Chianti area, but not too far to visit when we like.

It is ideal for relaxing or enjoy the company of our friends. The phone doesn't ring, there isn't any computer to check the mail, any Pay TV, we can finally read the book that we bought some time ago, pet our flowers, cook or simply sit, close the eyes and listen to sounds of nature.

Our stay at Mulino Di Rimaggio before our daughter's wedding

Our stay at Mulino Di Rimaggio before our daughter's wedding
  • 5 of 5
We stayed for 5 nights as a treat to our daughter who was getting married on 20/9. She got her natural sun-tan and relaxation as well. The villa is very well equipped and we had the whole place to ourselves - 5 of us. Both Roberto and Francesca are really great host and very passionate to maintain this historic site. This place is a very strategic place to visit nearby areas and we consider going back in near future..

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I have just returned from an unforgettable trip to Tuscany. The trip was instigated by a wedding at a villa very close to Mulino. The Mill made the trip all the more special. We could not have been more pleased with our stay. The enitre property was beautifully maintained and our apartment pristinely clean. Although we ate out most nights, the kitchen was fully equipped for serious cooking. The bed was very comfortable, and supplied with 4 pillows which we like! The pool is, in a word, amazing. The entire site is actually more lovely than the photos.

After our day's events, would return to relax with new found friends also staying at the Mill. While a little remote down a craggy road, it is still within 45 min to 1 hr. 30 min. of major sites throughout Tuscany. Cortona to the east, San Gimignano to the west, northwest, Pisa and Lucca to the north and Montepulciano to the south, all places we visited.

The owners were very helpful and always available. Their recommendation for dinner at Osteria di Montegonzi was spot on. Would we return?? In a minute!!!!

Wonderful Trip

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Mulino Di Rimaggio after a 7 day cruise, it was exactly what we were looking for. We spent 1 week here and felt like we were true Italians. The countryside is beautiful. The owners were lovely. The wine was amazing, and happy to report we have found it here in the US! Everything was perfect, due to the hard work of the owners. They want you to have the entire experience thus making it wonderful. We hope to go back soon!

The Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5
We, 2 couples in our early 60s, enjoyed 6 wonderful days here and found it to be more than we had hoped for. The location was perfect for visiting the nearby cities of Florence, Lucca, Sienna, and Pisa. But what we liked just as much was just lounging by the pool and enjoying the property. The owners are very friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasantly memorable. We would definitely stay here again on a visit to Tuscany.

Better than described! Perfect Tuscan setting and lovely hosts!

  • 5 of 5
We could not have asked for anything more with this property, it is a superb place from which to enjoy Tuscany. The setting is lovely, surrounded by vineyards and Tuscan hillside, within a day's drive to numerous vineyards, hill towns, castles, and interesting sights. It is also an extrememly comfortable place in which to simply relax and lay by the pool. The apartments were designed by the owners for their own use so they have a number of personal touches and interesting design elements. They were equipped with all the modern conveniences (dishwasher, washing machine, kitchen appliances) and everything we needed to enjoy cooking and dining in - the hosts even started us off with a welcome bottle of Tuscan wine! The hosts, two couples, were all very welcoming and attentive. They greeted us, provided any advice we needed, and kept the place meticulously clean and well-functioning. One is a previous tour guide and is full of knowledge on the local sights, and the other works at a historic local winery and welcomed us for a lovely tasting. Their hospitality and charm gave us an excellent impression of Italian/Tuscan culture! We were two couples and a baby and found the Hay Loft apartment to be a perfect fit for us. We would definitely stay here again and recommend that you do the same!

Owner's Response: We all love our work at the Mulino and give the new renters the possibility to spend their time in a nice, confortable place is still our goal.
We only use professional housekeepers, plus, Gloria and I follow their work constantly when they clean the apartments; Antonio takes care personally of the pool to be sure that the quality of the water is high.
We only regret that we do not have all the time that we would like to spend with all our guests, but we are always happy to help with information and any need they can have.

Magical

  • 5 of 5
It's been a few months since we stayed at Mulino Di Rimaggio but the memories are still so clear. Our family had a LOVELY time here. Very relaxing. Perfectly positioned. We rented a car in Florence and then were able to drive to so many great Tuscany locations using this home as our base. Plus we were able to spend a whole day just hanging by the pool. The welcome and willingness of the owners to place our family at ease in a foreign country was amazing. Thank you so much for making our vacation special! We do hope to visit again.
