If the glitz and the shopping of Waikiki is what you are looking for, Molokai is not for you. If you are looking for relaxation, privacy, solitude or a romantic getaway, then you'll love Molokai. We think of it as Montana in the middle of the Pacific, without the winter. Our home is in the West End of Molokai. This is the dry side, which means most days are sunny. During the winter Molokai gets some great surf without the crowds and during the summer you'll find some of the best snorkeling in the world. Our home is on 5 acres of privacy. The Molokai people are famous for their hospitality. Molokai is the old Hawaii and the people want to keep it that way. Respect the island and the people will respect you.
Our home was finished in 2007. Everything is new, clean and luxuriously finished yet very comfortable and relaxing. From granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances and exotic hardwood floors to the beautifully tiled master shower the home is first class. The home is 1500 sq ft on one floor with an additional 650 sq ft lanai that has about 400 sq ft covered. You'll spend most of your time on our lanai deck. The panoramic view is spectacular and the solitude is unique. The kitchen is complete with cherry wood cabinets and everything you'll need to prepare and eat your meals. We normally eat in and enjoy the sunset from our deck. If you like star-gazing, and the night is clear, The Milky Way looks like a cloud. With our telescope & binoculars you will see the night sky and be awed as never before.
From the living room, kitchen, master bedroom & lanai your panaramic view is of Oahu, Kiaka Rock, Papohaku Beach and the surf breaking (if there is any). During clear days & at night you can see Honolulu, Waikiki, & Diamond Head. You can even see fireworks on Friday night & 4th of July.
Maunaloa Town is located 5 miles away and the grocery store is open each day, as is the Kite Factory & Gift Shop.
There are a number of excellent restaurants within 15-20 minutes that provide a variety of specialties. Grocery stores, with everything you'll need are in famous Kaunakakai Town which is about 20 minutes drive. There is a gift shop with chips, drinks, etc about 1 mile from our house at Kaluakoi Resort.
On Saturday mornings Kaunakakai hosts a fun farmers/crafts market and on Sunday evenings there is a Hula & Hawaiian music show at the Molokai Coffee Plantation. Molokai has plenty of things to do or choose to do nothing at all. If you love the outdoors there is hiking, kayaking, scuba diving & snorkeling, bike riding, etc. It's also got some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. You might find yourselves the only people on the beach....so if privacy, beauty, relaxation are things you are looking for we know you'll love our house and the Island.

Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful Molokai home. We really had alot of fun & especially enjoyed dinner and sunsets on the lanai. I love your house and would like to copy your blue tile master bath someday. This will be a great place to retire. Debby and I are leaving you a salt & pepper shaker that matches your pasta bowl. We hope you enjoy them. Aloha,
Marcia (2009)
