A Real Treat

Five Happy Guys New York City
Review Submitted: August 25, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
On our intial tour upon arriving I was really surprised at the size of the property, it is very big for an in town location. The details of layout are very well described in another review. The house is nicely furnished. The yard and pool area are super nice. It is so well equipped and comfortable it is hard to leave and enjoy all the other activities Provincetown has to offer. Owner was a pleasure to deal with. I think this is a real value for the price. If rented again, I would bring a few more spices for cooking. I might also consider bringing my own sheets and pillow cases. This would make 10 AM Saturday checkout easier, as you are asked to wash those provided before leaving.

Wow,

We (five happy men) rented the house the second week of August and find your experience astounding. Our stay was exceptional and the owner was receptive to anything we needed. I am sorry you had a bad experience but suspect you may be exaggerating to the detriment of what I found to be very conscientious property owners. I find it difficult to believe the conditions of the pool, house and grounds deteriorated to such a degree in a matter of one week. I am sorry to say I wont be able to rent this property in the future because I now have a newly adopted dog I plan to bring to Ptown on my next visit and pets are not allowed here. My stay here turned out to be the best visit I have had to PTown and I have been visiting there almost twenty years.

Six Unhappy Ladies

Six Girls New York
Review Submitted: October 15, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Six of us rented this house the last week of Aug, and found it mediocre and the owner quite difficult. We arrived early at 1:30PM and called the owner to ask if we could drop off our cars. The owners’ response was a resounding “No, check-in is at 3:00PM.” One of the six of us went to the house at 3:00PM to retrieve the keys since we were eating lunch. The lease holder was called by the owner and told she would only give the keys to her. The lease holder was called another two times in a ½ hour to pick up the keys.
We had three bikes, each with an approx value of $700, and were told to leave them outside. When we put our bikes in the cottage next to the pool which has tile floors and a lock, we were firmly admonished and told they should not be in there or in the garage which was full. The lease doesn’t stipulate this.
The refrigerator was broken. Food and beverages we brought with us remained warm and some spoiled because the refrigerator temperature was a sweltering 68° and remained there for 1 ½ days when a repair person was sent.
All towels and sheets smelled of mildew and had to be rewashed. So we spent our 1st day relocating food from the non-working refrigerator to the tepid freezer, moving bikes to the most obscure corner of the property to reduce their allure to would be bike thieves, and doing laundry.
The pool was green and unhygienic, we requested chlorine be added. The pool wasn’t cleaned for 2 days. A gardener mowed the lawn while a few of us tried to enjoy some quiet time by the pool. We asked him to stop for two reasons: it was extremely loud, and I’m allergic to fresh cut grass. At no point did the owner try to communicate to us the grass cutting schedule.
The owner also requests all sheets and towels laundered before leaving the premises. So leave some extra time on you check-out day for wash! The owner again was not accommodating; we requested check-out at 7AM. We were informed by the owner “that’s way too early for me” so we had no final walk-through. In my rental experience, not a big deal, however, it is a necessity with this owner else you run the risk of incurring ridiculous and unsubstantiated charges.
Overall, our vacation was awesome due to our ability to have fun despite the circumstances. However, our housing was less than desirable due to the uncooperative attitude of the owner, the wildly unrealistic requests, the lack of communication, and the substandard service. I would certainly spend your money elsewhere.
Owner's Response: We take great pride in our Cape Cod home which we offer for rent in the summer. Our lease is written looking toward covering as many issues as possible to prevent misunderstandings between leaser and leasee. However, there may be some circumstances that are unanticipated. Expectations are concretely stated in regard to the tenant's responsibilities before vacating the premises. It is important to us that our incoming guests are greeted with the same immaculate surroundings as were our outgoing guests. Since turnover time is limited, and our standards for cleanliness is high, we ask our departing guests to leave the premises in the same general condition as when they arrived.

We provide our tenants with a phone number to reach us as necessary and encourage them to call with any problem, big or small. We prefer to be made aware of any situation that may arise immediately. Our guest's comfort and pleasure is important to us as is the protection of our lovely home. We promptly address all concerns in a timely fashion

Excellent Experience Nice House w pool: Stay here!

RLB Glens Falls, NY
Review Submitted: July 18, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We (5 adults & 3 children 2-6yo) rented this house the last week of June 2008. First you need to realize that it is IN Provincetown..which is great... Walk to the main part of town, a gym nearby, a grocery store nearby, less than a 1/2 mile to the piers. Off street parking for three cars, quick drive to the Seashore beaches for sunny days. The yard is beautiful with large lawn and a pool all enclosed by hedges and privacy fence. The pool provided swimming for the kids (little and big) when the weather was less than ideal or the day was just lazy and it was time to relax. The neighborhood is quiet. The layout is a suite with full bath upstairs, two rooms connected by a bath at the other end of the upstairs and a double bed with full bath and washer dryer on the first floor. The basement had an additional bedroom we did not use (no bath) and a playroom for the kids with many VHS Tapes and DVDs that the kids had never seen.

The property was clean and is one of the personal residences of the owners: obviously it was in good shape.

There are lots of excellent restaurants within walking distance: Lobster pot is great, Bayside Betsys left something to be desired, Bubala's didn't leave anything to wish for it was excellent. The caribbean corner for lunch was different and good. Napis was ok but a disapointment for the price,
CLEM & URSIE's was great (read for me whole belly clams) and attached to their fish market which has great deals on things to cook at home. OH! ...at home where Bethany seems to have collected every kind of hand kitchen utensil known. The barbie if you want to cookout is BIG. The kitchen has plates cups bowls etc.

Bottom line this is a great place to stay: it's not on a dune at the shore but being in the village has lots of advantages especially with kids and on showery days when the shops are a few blocks away: you can walk most everywhere. (Parking is always a problem in Ptown). It was furnished in sturdy pottery Barn type furnature. Financial dealings went without a hitch and we got our Deposit back about 2 weeks after the end of out stay (and 4th of july was in there). Yes we would recommend and if we go back to Ptown would stay there again. Members of our party had two issues, one of the connected upstairs beds was too soft and there was no air conditioning (No one in Ptown houses has AC): Actually this house has AC for the basement playroom and bedroom.
