Overview

Le Piazze Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-6)

Located outside of one of the most charming villages in Tuscany, San Casciano dei Bagni, and a short distance from the World Class Thermal Spa, Fonteverde, voted # 1 in Europe by Spafinder in 2008, the villa is a picture perfect Tuscan villa awaiting your arrival. Situated adjacent to an 11th century castle, this 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom home features a large living room with wood-burning fireplace, a dining room that seats 6 comfortably and a charming kitchen with microwave, full size refrigerator and an American coffee maker. Completely renovated in 2006, the updated kitchen and bathrooms feature locally hand-painted ceramic tiles each depicting one of the prominent castles in the area. In addition, the villa includes satellite television, a DVD player, laundry facilities and comes with a fascinating history lesson of the nearby castle and the surrounding area. There is also a wonderful garden with a massive travertine marble table situated under a rose covered pergola – perfect for dining al fresco, a private above-ground swimming pool and a gated entry for complete privacy.

The villa is ideally located midway between Rome and Florence allowing easy day trips to both by either car or train (approx 1 hour to each). The train station and entrance to the A1 Autostrada are just a short distance away in Chiusi. In addition to Rome and Florence, most destinations in both Tuscany and Umbria are reachable in day trips including Siena, San Giminagno, Assisi, Perugia, Deruta, Arezzo, Montepulciano, Montalcino and many many quaint small villages in between.

In addition, we are happy to assist you with daily itineraries, arrange a private cooking lesson or a local wine-tasting, provide you with maps and local places of interest, local markets and festivals and special events that may be occurring during your visit. Our guests receive a 15% discount to the thermal pool at the Spa and a 10% discount on any Day Spa visits. We are also able to offer you a half day or full day hands-on class in the ancient art of hand-made ceramics production led by a talented painter who has studied under the Master Painter, Romano Ranieri, in Deruta. With her guidance, you will produce a unique piece of art that will be a permanent reminder of your time under the Tuscan sun.

Charming, secluded beautifull villa in tiny village in Tuscan hills

  • 5 of 5

What a charming most beautifull villa in a tiny hamlet in the Tuscan hills. Surrounded by the Fighine fortress (now privately owned) a few homes and a darling little churche (not in use but can be visited). All rooms are very well appointed and comfortable with a working fire place and relaxing living room area. The kitchen has all of the necessary cooking tools and appliances in addition to a washing machine. The two bedrooms had their own shower equiped bathrooms and were imaculately clean just like the rest of the villa. To our surprise a high speep wifi had just been installed and it was a bonus that we did not expect allowing us to keep in touch with family and friends back home. Considering that it was late in the season the pool had been removed. The grounds and gazebo with table and chairs were well maintained including a BBQ. There are basically 2 dirt road accesses to the hamlet with pretty villages within 20 minutes to half an hour with great restaurants (very reasonalble) especially Daniella in Castiganio di Bagni. Great base for day trips in both Tuscany and Umbria.

The info provided by both the property manager Linda and the owners Grazzia and Cesare was very helpfull in deciding on our daily itinerary.

Crucial to the enjoyment was the easy communications with Linda the property manager, always responding to our queries within a day or two. The owners were very nice and helpfull. When we could not operate the washing machine Cesare was there the next morning to fix it.

We were also fortunate to meet Linda as she was in the area to arrange a wedding. She organized a cooking class for us at another villa. It was fun and gave us a chance to exchange info with other guests. Thank you to Linda, Grazzia and Cesare for making our vacation memorable.

I would recommend this villa for 2 couples or small family wanting privacy and to relax.

Wonderful villa in fabulous location

  • 5 of 5

A lovely peaceful spot within a castle walls which is so impossibly beautiful it looks like a film set! The villa sleeps 4 comfortably (maybe more with sofas) and is the best equipped villa /gite we have ever stayed in: usually you have to run to a supermarket to get essentials right away, but not here. The owner was charming and very helpful. The grounds are immaculate and the pool is a bonus. There is no view which is a shame, but from the walks around the hamlet it is spectacular. The drive up thereon the dirt road is arduous and a 4x4 would be great, but this means that when you get to the castle, there are NO mosquitos due to the high elevation! Didn't believe it on arrival but it was true! This made my holiday as I usually get eaten alive! We only visited Siena (gorgeous) as the small hill towns around were enough for us: each one with a more spectacular outlook than the previous, great restaurants and wonderful mediaeval festivals in August. Couldn't ask for more really, we stayed two weeks and not a day too long!

Beautiful villa neighboring castle with spectacular views

  • 5 of 5

We loved our villa oasis perched on top of a hill overlooking the beautiful Tuscan hills. We enjoyed just relaxing in the peaceful garden without the sounds of city traffic. We hear birds during the day and crickets at night. The neighboring castle which has a restaurant was relatively quiet with a few guests each night. We were able to get to the train station and be in Florence or Siena within a few hours. The villa is located about 4 kilometers from a village, and you do have to travel on a gravel road for 3 km. We did not mind this as we had a rental car. We enjoyed walking to the nearby village. We drove to nearby villages. We preferred taking the train to large cities such as Florence and Siena. The house was equipped with everything you needed to cook with a large refrigerator for European standards. I would definitely recommend this villa for those seeking a peaceful getaway.

Like stepping into a fairy tale...

  • 5 of 5

There really are no words to describe this piece of heaven on earth, but I'll try... I'll start with the booking process, which was handled smoothly and efficiently by Linda. She responded quickly and warmly to emails, and was a treasure trove of information instilling confidence in our choice.

Our arrival was challenging, due to the fact that our youngest daughter (16 yrs) became quite ill the morning that we left Greece to fly to Rome. After picking up our rental car at the airport and driving to the meeting point (Grazia meets her guests at a predetermined point to bring them to the villa), our daughter was not feeling any better. When we met Grazia, we asked if she could tell us where we could find a doctor if our daughter was not feeling better by the next day. Without hesitation, she told us that as the villa was quite secluded, she did not want us to worry, and would take us to a doctor right away. What happened next was really amazing...we went to the urgent care clinic in her town, and our daughter was seen immediately. The very professional medical staff ran tests and cared for her while Grazia stayed with us to translate. After giving her IV fluids and monitoring her vitals, it was eventually determined that she had become dehydrated and was fighting a virus. They did not let us leave until she was showing improvement and until we were comfortable with how she was feeling. In the meantime, Grazia could see that our other daughters were becoming tired of sitting in the waiting room, so she took them to the villa in her own car (over 20 minutes away), made sure they were settled in, then returned for us and stayed until we could all leave. We had plenty of time to get to know each other during the wait, and I will say that Grazia is one of the warmest and sweetest women that you will ever meet.

Now, the villa...I am not exaggerating when I say that it took my breath away when we entered the walls of the tiny hamlet. The drive up had been incredibly beautiful (the sunflower fields were all in bloom!), but this place was like nothing I had ever seen before. As we entered the garden, our two older daughters came running out to greet us, exclaiming "This is amazing! Wait until you see the view from your bedroom!". I was pulled upstairs to look out the window, and the view quite literally brought tears to my eyes. Exquisite. The house was perfect, and 6 days was much too short. We will return again as soon as we are able!!

Perfect, Perfect, Perfect

  • 5 of 5

There are no words to describe our five days in Fighine, other than Perfect, Magical! It all started with the extraordinary attention we received in booking with Linda. She answered all of our many, many e-mails promptly and with such friendliness - she could not have done more for us. We arrived to a warm welcome from Grazia, the owner. What a delightful person. The house was everything we had dreamed a Tuscany villa should be. It is full of charm and character, gorgeous antiques, very well supplied, lovely and comfortable furniture, very clean, modern bathrooms. It is as beautiful as the pictures, if not more. We spent many hours having lunch of cheese, bread, olives, wine, under the pergola in the delightful yard. There is plenty of parking. The piece de resistance is the hamlet itself. Absolute perfection. We were practically the only ones living in the hamlet at the time - we didn't meet anyone other than the castle gardeners and the restaurant staff. We only took about 1000 pictures of Fighine - it is that beautiful. We have spent many vacations in Italy and have rented villas before. This area of Italy is unsurpassed. It is positively breathtaking. It is also very convenient, being half way between Rome and Florence. We have already decided to return as soon as possible. Perfetto! Thank you Grazia and Linda.

Spectacular setting next to a Castle

  • 5 of 5

Our two week stay at Casa Demo was like stepping back in time and feeling like royalty. Owners Grazia & Caesari were gracious hosts. Their warm hospitality made us feel so welcomed. They even gave us a wonderful bottle of local wine upon our arrival. Our accomodations were superb. We enjoyed the spectaular views, sipping wine by the fireplace, eating lunch under the pergola, and dining at the resturant "Castello di Fighine". The location was ideal for visiting all the unique small towns nearby. If you are looking for a romantic and memorable vacation, this is the "only" place to stay. We will never forget it.

The accomodations were wonderful & clean, the bathrooms with handpainted tiles were elegant, & the well equipped kitchen made cooking easy. We enjoyed taking a long walk through the country side each morning. We even took a dip in the pool and enjoyed eating the fresh almonds from the tree in our yard.

A big "thanks" to Linda who bent over backwards and went beyond the call of duty in making our reservations and trip from Michigan to Italy so easy and informative. She even let us use her pesonal cell phone because we did not have one to use in Italy. She is one great lady.

Sincerely,

Two "very satisfied" Senior Citizens
