"We love to visit different cabins each Fall, and this was certainly one of our favorites. We enjoyed sitting in the rockers and enjoying our coffee. It's such a peaceful place!"
We live in flat Fort Lauderdale, FL.....
... so we wanted a get-away to the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains - something very different from our day to day lives.
From the moment we pull up to the cabin, open the car doors and smell the mountain air -- we are transported to mountain serenity! We enjoy just grilling on the deck and watching Nature around us.
Our Property Manager provides a lot of local information on the various festivals throughout each season.
We enjoy white water rafting in the Spring, when the river waters are running fast! We see a lot of people riding bikes on Railroad Grade Road between our Fleetwood and Todd. You can even rent bikes and do the flat ride that meanders next to the river bank.
In the Summer, we love to explore all the hiking trails up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is much cooler when you are hiking on the forest paths. We also cool off by tubing on the New River. We supply 2 tubes under the deck for your use. The put in area for the New River is at the entrance to our Fleetwood Falls. There is also a local tubing shuttle service at the Riverside Restaurant - just up the river passed Todd.
In the Fall - of course it is hiking on trails to see the beautiful colors! All along the Blue Ridge Parkway is gorgeous. There are numerous music venues and festivals - every weekend something different. We like trying to find our way out of the New River Corn Maze and then we pick and purchase pumpkins from their patch.
Moving into November and December - it's time to choose and cut your own Christmas tree! We enjoy building a giant fire in our fireplace, roasting marshmellows and also making banana boats (ripe bananas cut long-ways still in the skin, then put chocolate pieces and marshmellows on top. Close the whole thing up in tin foil and put them in the embers of the fire for 7-10 minutes, then remove and eat with a spoon - YUMMIEE!)
