La Lavande du Plein Soleil is a lovely renovated villa, open and breezy with air conditioning, a fully-equipped outdoor summer kitchen in addition to the interior 'cuisine americaine', four-meter by eight-meter private pool, and newly built guest house with its own bedroom, shower and toilet.
It is situated in a perfect location in Provence: the heart of lavender country, Cotes du Rhone wine and a truly magnificent cuisine, subtly blending traditional French cuisine with those of Italy and Spain. Lovely gardens surround the private pool, including cypress trees, palm trees, and a cornucopia of fragrant and brilliant roses.
Just 20 minutes from Avignon, home of the Papal palace, 30 minutes to Arles, where Van Gogh did much of his painting, and a host of other spectacular sights and activities within an hour, from mountain climbing to swimming and boating in the Mediterranean to golfing, cycling and horseback riding. Forty-five minutes to Aix-en-Provence, two hours to Nice, three hours to Italy, four hours to Barcelona Spain or Lake Geneva in Switzerland. Truly a limitless vacation experience.

Jo Ann and I have traveled throughout Europe for more than 30 years. In late 2001 we decided to buy a place in Europe as our base for retirement travel. We have been delighted by the amazing sights and experiences available in this part of France as well as the incredible food and wines. Our little town of Sarrians has over 20 vineyards alone!
Elias Safdie purchased this villa in 2002
Location, location, location. We are four hours from Barcelona, four hours from Lake Geneva, three hours from italy and a quick two hour TGV ride from Paris. Additionally, the people, cuisine, wines and weather in southern France are both absolutely fabulous.
Herb garden available to guests; we plant a vegetable garden for guests each year; a fig tree on the property provides fresh figs; secluded walled property provides privacy while still being a five minute walk from a charming village with the typical boulangeries, patisseries, boucheries and more, and a two minute drive from a supermarket.
We had a great time. The kids loved your pool, we loved and appreciated your lovely home. I love the colors!
We were fortunate to rent this excellent property in Sept. 2012. We had a mini family reunion comprised of 4 adults and 3 children. We took the guest house leaving the main house for our son's family, it was a perfect arrangement. The kids loved the pool, the kitchen was well equipped and the location ideal for exploring all there is to see in the many regions of Provence. Two weeks was not nearly enough time to see all of the surprises Provence has in store. All was wonderful.
The house was excellent. Our family (3 total) found the house just the right size and very comfortable. Located conveniently to many of the small towns and sites of Provence, it was a perfect place from which to start day trips and arrive back in the late afternoon in time for s swim!
The kitchen was fully equipped with plenty of glasses, tableware, and cookware. The supermarket outside of Sarrians was a few minutes away by car. We used the boulangerie outside of town everyday. (We liked the bread there versus the ones in town.)
The owners have also maintained a useful guide/review of restaurants nearby (some of the reviews are old) as well as plenty of information on things to do around Provence.
We will definitely recommend the house to friends and family (and use it ourselves for our next trip!).
This was the perfect location for a nostalgic return to the Carpentras area of Provence where we had stayed for consecutive years at a local campsite(now closed) in the days when we had little money! The house was in an extremely convenient location, not just for site seeing but for the Supermarket (5 mins in the car) and the short walk into Sarrians for bread, post office etc.
The arrival was very smooth and Christophe, the manager, was very prompt and helpful, as were all the pre arrival dealings with the owner . The pool was exceptionally clean and the garden setting was very pretty(and not at all over looked). As the owners clearly use this as a second home it had personal touches and also an excpetional range of maps and guide books. T he herb garden was the icing on the cake along with the easy access to free Wi fi.!! The bed in the main guest room was really comfy and for those of us over 50 with back problems that says something!!
As we didn't have all of our family with us we chose not to rent the additional small apartment but would recommend this if two seperate families were renting as the extra bathroom facilities would be good. The main bathroom is fine but there is only one and if you want real privacy it would be worth the extra money.
This really is an excellent location for the amazing site -seeing available in this area, there is a little traffic noise but we would certainly choose this home again if we were to return to Vaucluse. Thank you Elias and family for giving us the opportunity to stay in your lovely second home . This area is wonderful and you offer a superb small villa to make it even more special.
Our vacation in La Lavande has been one of our very best vacations ever. All our expectations have been redeemed.
The house is spacious and decorated in the typical provence style. The terrace gives you possiblity for sitting in the shadow, when the sun is too strong. And you can still be sitting outside if it should be rainy weather. The garden is just lovely. Palm trees and a lot of flowers. And then of course the pool. We spent many hours in the water.
Sarrians is a small village in the wine district Rhône.
A very good starting point for outings in the Provence area.
Mont Ventoux is well known in France and is often included in the Tour de France bicycle race.
The Lac de Monteux offers family water fun less than ten minutes from the villa.
Go Kart racing is available five minutes from the villa
The Friday Market in Carpentras (six miles away) is the largest and best known in the area. This is a must-see.
The Pont du Gard is a UNESCO recognized monument which is over 2000 years old and is a remnant of a Roman aqueduct that carried water to Nimes.
Cassis is the westernmost beach of the French Rivieara and is located about 90 minutes by car.
The Palace of the Popes in Avignon housed the papacy in the fourteenth century when political infighting in Rome forced the Pope to seek refuge in France.
