Description of the Door County vacation house rental
Beautiful old native stone house on very private, wooded estate, on bluff overlooking Ephraim Harbor and Green Bay. The property is named 'The Beachmarks' after the remains of an ancient beach found at the foot of the bluff north of the house, which was formed in prehistoric times when the level of Green Bay was much higher than today. The house is well maintained with new carpet in living, dining, and master bedroom. New carriage house bedroom/bath. Fully-equipped kitchen with tiled floor and large sunken living room with big stone hearth and picture window. Large attached fully enclosed sun porch. Partial air conditioned plus fans. Sleeps 6 adults with 2 queen, 2 twin, plus 2 narrow beds 32' x74' suitable for children or overnight guests. House is located at the end of a private one-quarter mile drive, with only one other residence nearby. Deer, raccoons, wild turkeys, and squirrels are neighbors and frequent visitors. Less than 5 minutes from Peninsula State Park Golf Course

Wisconsin's Door Peninsula, separating Green Bay from Lake Michigan, offers some 250 mile of scenic shoreline. Sand beaches, dunes, cragy cliffs, scenic vistas, and protected natural areas are interspersed with delightful small towns, cherry orchards, marinas, state parks, and fishing docks. It is a prime summer recreation area, with boating and watersports of all kinds, multiple golf courses, camp grounds, cottages , hotels and restaurants. Cultural activities include two active summer theaters, multiple galleries, a summer symphony music festival (Aug 7-25, 2007), and weekly concerts featuring a variety of musical styles. The county is criss-crossed with trails and country roads, ideal for bicycling or hiking. Spring, with its abundance of wild flowers, and Fall, with its brilliant foliage, offer rural beauty at a slower pace than the popular summer months.
