Fred Bosche purchased this villa in 2000
My family and I stayed for 10 days again this year. After last year we had to go back again! It was even better this time . Great weather, great food, and good company. Marta and Sergio are the best hosts that we could ever ask for. They took such good care of us and made sure we were having a good time. Sergio took us to the fish market in Pochomil and we bought dozens of lobsters and shrimp and Marta cooked it all up. The house and the grounds are beautiful and peaceful. So much space to spread out and play games, read or just look at the gorgeous beach. We went horseback riding on the beach at sunset. Sergio will make arrangements for you. Can't say enough about this beautiful place. We have already made reservations for next year! If you spend the night in Managua, check out Fedricos family hotel. It was as great as this villa.
From the moment we were greeted by Marta and Sergio with their welcoming smiles to when we left (reluctantly) we felt we were in paradise. The beach here is virtually deserted and we walked it for a mile or so every morning and evening. The rest of the day we took up various locations on the grounds and read and relaxed.
Marta and Sergio were charming and the owner, Federico, was very gracious and helpful. I cannot speak more highly of them.
As a tip, if you are driving and heading to Granada as we were, take the dirt road to La Trinidad. It is fine and interesting. The road up to Diriamba is really good; better than taking the 8 and getting stuck behind all those cement trucks!
Stay at Don Coco, you will not be disappointed.
Probably one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever experienced in my life. The house sits on a beautifully landscaped property with amazing views of the sea. The majority of the property sits behind the house which provides additional privacy and shade which is needed with the power of the sun in Nicaragua. I can't say enough positive things about the housekeepers Sergio and Marta. Little did I know that we would be treated to breakfast, lunch and dinner and have the place tidied up each day. It made the vacation extraordinary! They were so helpful and pleasant - will be hard to adjust back to daily life without them.
The beach as you head out to the left was practically vacant. Never were there more than 4-5 people on the beach and as we walked further - often had the sea to ourselves for hours. This might be unnerving for some - but was bliss for us. Not once did we feel unsafe or unwelcome.
The owner, Federico was helpful with daily suggestions and although we didn't require anything from him while we were there - he reached out on many occasions to make sure all was running smoothly.
If you're looking to hang low for the week - pack light, bathing suit, t-shirts and flip flops are all you will need. There's nothing fancy you'll need to dress up for. You'll want to stock up on supplies at La Union in Managua (as Federico suggested) given it's a bit of a hike for groceries should you need anything. We managed fine with the tiny little roadside grocery in Masachapa - but did purchase many things in Managua before we got to the house.
If you need directions - let me know - there's very little signage (if any) should you make the wrong turn in Managua.
Thanks Federico, Sergio, and Marta for such a wonderful week- will be missing Don Coco as we adjust back here to NJ weather :(
My husband and I were able to stay here for 4 nights. We can honestly say that it is a wonderful house. It is a tropical paradise! The views of the Pacific ocean are amazing. Every evening we would go out to the beach and see the sunset into the Pacific Ocean. Wow! The place was very clean. The cook and property person were great. We would highly recommend this property.
The owner was extremely helpful and available as well. We do not speak spanish. He even gave us a telephone number to call if we needed help with translation. We hope to go back one day.
This villa is amazing! The pictures don't do it justice. The living area is HUGE! Plenty of room for everyone to stretch out. It's like having a beautiful park all to yourself. The pool area is really big with lots of very comfortable furniture and the trees are awesome and the plants are tropical and beautiful.
Sergio and Marta are the caretakers and are wonderful people. Marta cooks like a dream and took such good care of us. Her husband Sergio was always doing nice things for us. He brought us some fresh sugarcane and coconuts and woke us one night to tell us that turtles were nesting on the beach and off we went to see that miracle! We had a great time with a bonfire on the beach. Sergio also rented us horses to ride on the beach and 4 wheelers. We always felt very safe and secure.
Everything about our trip was perfect. The owner of the villa, Fredrico was on top of everything. He will provide you with maps from Managua and grocery lists to help with shopping. He called us the day after we arrived to make sure everything was perfect and even called me after I was back in the states to make sure we all were happy with our experience.
We stayed in Managua the first night at Fredrico's families hotel and it was also outstanding! The rooms were beautiful!
I could go on forever about this wonderful place! I am coming back next year for sure. I can't wait!!
AMAZING! My wife and I just returned from this beach house for our honeymoon and we were blown away! The pictures really do not do the property justice when you see the sights and hear the sounds.
Neither of us spoke very much Spanish but because of the excellent service the owner provided we were well taken care of! The onsite housekeeper cooked us fabulous meals three times a day and the groundskeeper kept the pool clean, the flower gardens green and even gave us a carriage ride down the beach to the local market.
The value here was exceptional, you really feel like you're getting what you pay for.
-We did not speak very much Spanish and I would highly recommend having a good grasp especially since not very many people speak English in Nicaragua.
-Communicate with the owner and research the area. There are things to do locally but you may have to use your imagination as a lot of it will be up to you.
-Leave a lot of time open. Some of our favorite times were when we were doing... nothing!
-Take the precautions. We did a ton of research and got shots, brought water filters, bug spray, sun screen, and money belts. The only thing we ended up using was a ton of sunscreen but it's good to have peace of mind :)
-Rent a vehicle if you want some more adventure. My wife and I had enough fun collecting seashells, horseback riding, swimming in the pool, and reading in the hammock, but if that's not quite your speed, grab a 4x4 and a good map and meet the locals!
I would recommend this to couples, groups of couples, and families. If you're looking for a place to feel total peace of mind and carefree, this is it!
Our property is located in a safe and uncrowded residential area in pochomil viejo beach. The beach in front of our property is white sand, nice for swimming and good for surfing or just relaxing in the low tide pools and reefs meters away from our place. For more action you can drive for ten minutes and reach masachapa, the cultural and firendly fishermens town.
Other Activities: Visiting Massachapa Town ( some arts & Crafts) Local culture
