Perfect Beach Vacation House in Nicaragua

Our family of 4, including 6 & 4-year-old boys, has traveled all over Central America (except El Salvador), and this is honestly our favorite beach house. In fact, my older son cried when it was time to leave. Other reviewers are correct in saying the pictures just cannot give this house its due. Upon arrival, we rounded the corner from our car and our jaws just dropped - amazing home, amazing views. Marta & Sergio, the home's caretakers, really took care of everything. Our bags were out of the car before we could turn back around and our groceries were unpacked in the kitchen. Upon the advice of the owner, we did our big grocery shopping at the Pali in Rivas, but were able to easily pick up other items, including chicken, in Pochomil and Masachapa (getting fresh fish there is a must - we picked up 5 giant lobster tails for $15). Marta is an amazing cook. She fixed us chicken 2 different ways (her "al vapor" is delicious) and elevated our fresh lobster tails to fine-dining quality cuisine. Sergio brought the horses over one afternoon and we had an amazing hour-long ride for $10 (meaning you take the horses by yourselves). One of the best parts - we were the only Americans we saw for 3 whole days. Being in the non-tourist area was simply awesome. Our boys had tons of fun with Marta's 6-year-old son chasing the baby chicks all over the yard. The pool was perfect for them to rinse & cool off in the afternoons and the fresh water stream made for a great splash area. The waves in front can be very dangerous and require adult supervision - no splashing in the surf without mom & dad. There were areas down the beach that were perfect for bodysurfing. We brought home huge bags of beautiful shells - I've never seen so many perfectly unique shells on another beach. All in all, I cannot imagine a better place to stay - the house, the view, the people - I hope we can go back soon.
