If you are looking for a great, quiet place, this is it! Upon our arrival, the owner (Bob) was there to greet us and gave us a tour of the property. There were nearly daily emails from his wife (Maryellen) ensuring things were going okay. I guarantee any issues that may arise will be addressed immediately by these owners.
As to the house, it was better than advertised. Our group was two families for a total of 8 and this home easily accomodated us. The big plus was 3 bathrooms; an absolute necessity with 8 people. Another plus is Wi-Fi. Some of us just can't stay off the computer! The entire property was clean and well-maintained. We rented a pontoon boat for 3 days and the dock easily accommodated it. There are a couple of nearby marina's to rent from.
We were fortunate enough to photograph two bald eagles in the trees behind the house as they were looking for breakfast. Not sure what their breakfast of choice was, but some other bird had an untimely ending for warning the others about them! Felt like I was watching Wild Kingdom back in the '70's!
Being on one of the three accessible lakes may be a sound like a better option, but this place is definitely worth it as an alternative and you can't beat the price for the amount of house and personal service you get.
I really don't understand the poor rating given by one of the renter's...there is probably no pleasing her anyway! Her ex-husband must have loved living with her!!

We planned a vacation with my husband, 3 children and in-laws. Per the contract, it says not to arrive prior to 3 pm. We arrived at 3:30 to find the cleaning people still there. They did not leave until approximately 4:15. They explained that the last tenants left the property a mess and it was taking extra time cleaning. We were willing to let this go due the fact that the house was beautiful and my children and in-laws loved it there. Per the contract, it stated that there would be wash clothes and hand towels. We could not find them in any of the 3 bathrooms. We e-mailed the owners on Tuesday, to find out where they may be - we never got a reponse back. We followed the instructions based on the contract and put all the clean dishes away and put the towels and sheets where they should be. We paid our security deposit up front when making the reservation. This is returnable upon inspection of the property. Approximately 1 month after our stay we received a nasty e-mail from the owner saying that we would only be getting half of the deposit back due to the condition of the house. There were scuff marks behind a rocking chair, the floors were unswept, and the grill was "deplorable" and that extra help had to be hired. This was shocking to my family. Nobody went behind the rocking chair and my 65-year-old mother in-law was the only one who sat in it. My children are 12, 10, and 7 and spent most of their time on the 2 couches. I believe this may be some sort of a scam with the deposit. How come when we got there the previous renters supposedly did the same thing? Maybe the property was not up to par for even us to rent. It was clean but not immaculate. We didn't even use the grill!!!! We had a great time and would have considered this property again until we received the e-mail regarding this almost 30 days after our stay. I have since e-mailed the owners twice and have not received a response. Considering that we couldn't get into the place until an hour and 15 minutes after the contract stated and there were not hand towels or wash clothes we believe the entire security deposit should be returned. We are very disapponted. I would be wary from renting this property.

This place was a great find...the set-up with two master bedrooms was convenient for our extended family to reunite...plenty of room to gather inside and out...especially down by the river and dock...
the bedrooms had huge closets, all the linens, towels and supplies you could need...the kitchen had every thing for dining in and the outdoor grills allowed for awesome barbequeing....
Great location with easy access to many attractions in the area...the river entertained the kids every day...They even could walk to the Songo Lock and help with the opening for the passing boats....
We wished we could have stayed all summer!...Next time we hope to bring our own boat...
