Description of the Big Platte Lake / Sleeping Bear Dunes vacation cottage rental
Fully equipped, 3 bedroom, 2 bath cottage nestled in the birch with a private, sandy beach on the North West Shore of Big Platte Lake. Located at the base of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, the cottage is within walking/biking distance of national hiking trails and Lake Michigan. Great swimming, hard sandy bottom. Kayak, canoe, or tube from the cottage to Lake Michigan via the Platte River. The cottage is also close to ports and shopping in Frankfort, Empire, Leland and Traverse City. It is a clean, quiet retreat.
The cottage amenities include dock, canoe, gas grill, TV, VCR/DVD, fire place, screen porch, and beach fire pit. Newly restored interior has quaint cottage feel.

Located at the base of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park (a portion of the driveway is actually within the National Park), the cottage is within walking distance of national trails. Bike, run, or canoe from the cottage to Lake Michigan. Climb the famous Sleeping Bear Dune; have fires by the cottage or on the nearby Lake Michigan beaches. Everything the National Park has to offer is at the back door. The surrounding port towns of Frankfort, Empire, Leland, Glen Arbor, and Suttons Bay offer the restaurants, galleries, shopping and golf the area is known for.
