|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
Each home on Winding Bay, Eleuthera, Bahamas has a unique name ours is 'High Tide'. A 'High Tide' vacation will be one you will remember always. Your vacation home is just steps from 2 miles of pink sand beach and the extraordinary azure waters of secluded Winding Bay (pretty much your own private beach). You’ll revel in the luxury and privacy of the recently upgraded 3,560 sq. ft. 3 bedroom, 4 bath home with stunning views from every room. At the same time, you will find High Tide casually welcoming and family friendly. Our three children all learned to swim and snorkel right in the front yard. Each of the 3 bedrooms has a separate private bathroom and individual entrance opening to the beach…with 2 outdoor showers. The master suite includes a king bed, plenty of dresser space, walk-in closet area and giant soaking tub, with view! Bedroom 2, 'The Coral Bedroom' has two twin beds. Bedroom 3, 'The Sandpiper Room' has a queen bed and is secluded at the end of the house with a separate entrance and private full bath. The entire home is fully air-conditioned.
The 'Great Room', living area is open and spacious with lots of room for dining, lounging or watching satellite TV. Bring your Ipod and enjoy your favorites anytime on the Bose MP3 player. Free DSL, too.
Cooks will enjoy the fully equipped remodled kitchen with state of the art appliances. You can prepare the fish, lobster or conch gathered near your vacation villa (lobster in season, of course) or visit the wharf in the nearby village of Tarpum Bay where the local fisherman bring in freshly caught fish each afternoon. Don't forget to have Cindy (the house keeper) cater a real Bahamian feast of conch fritters, grouper fingers, baked grouper, peas and rice, the special local version of mac and cheese, coleslaw and top it off with pineapple-coconut tart. The local restaurants offer great opportunities to sample everything from local home style dishes to gourmet fare served on the deck while you watch a romantic sun set over a tranquil sea.
You might want to grill some fresh fish on the charcoal Webber. Ask Columbus (the property manager and source for information on all local attractions) for suggestions on local charter opportunities. Commercial fishing charters are available out of nearby Davis Harbor or from locals (very reasonable and in Atlantic waters right out in front of Winding Bay). Expect to catch dolphin (mahi-mahi), king fish, wahoo, cero mackerel, barracuda, grouper, and, yes, sailfish and marlin are possible. And don't forget the bone fishing almost right in the front yard.
You'll want to take the glass bottom kayak to check out the abundant sea life in the tranquil bay and the inside reef where you'll revel in the easy snorkeling. For the more adventurous, paddle out to one of the barrier reefs which set Winding Bay apart from the Atlantic but always let in the refreshing ocean breeze. The beach offers a waterfront cabana and plenty of beach chairs and lounges, as does the patio. There are many other nearby opportunities to explore secluded beaches, snorkle, indulge yourself in 'family island' culture or just sit back and revel in your own private tropical paradise. After all, it's always 'island time' in Eleuthera.
Housekeeping is available. Our family had the most amazing week long stay at High Tide on Winding Bay in Eleuthera. The property is definitely as described except even better! Every day we've been back I've longed to be back at High Tide...
We had 3 families which included 8 kids, ages 4 to 12 stay at this property over spring break. The home was super clean, updated and had every amenity you could think of for a more than comfortable stay. Most stellar feature? Every room in this home has a view of the magnificent Winding Bay and its incredible turquoise waters. Access to the softest pink sandy beach was only steps from the back porch where you could dip your toes in or just relax in the shade under the palapa.
Almost daily, we walked the length of the beach and back (approx. 2-miles round trip) for some exercise. The kids spent the day playing on the beach, swimming, digging holes or exploring the nearby "cut" to the mangroves during low tide. Nearby, we found the Ocean Hole to be a really fun outing and chance to swim with some beautiful fish. There was no shortage of things to do and explore in the most amazing setting.
One of the best features about this beach? No waves. Winding Bay is beautifully protected by the outer reef and its clear waters made it ideal for swimming. As a parent, you can sit back and relax as the kids play in the water.
This 3-BR home has one of the best layouts I've ever seen for a vacation property. The large great room where we ate great meals, hung out in and played games has a fully equipped kitchen right off of it. On both sides of this great room are two very large bedrooms with full bathrooms. A third equally large bedroom and bath are on the side. Columbus and Lilly, High Tide's caretakers are amazing and provided everything we needed for this trip. And if we needed something ourselves, the convenient proximity to Tarpum Bay and Rock Sound made it easy to pick up fresh fish from the dock or shop for groceries.
Everyone should experience a little slice of paradise. For me, it doesn't get better than this. Having been to several Caribbean islands including: Nassau, Barbados, St. Lucia, Montserrat, Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, St. Thomas and Bermuda, I can honestly say, that my visit to Winding Bay on Eleuthera is my all-time favorite. We can't wait to go back.
High Tide is one of the most gorgeous places I have visited, the house is beautiful and has a great big porch that overlooks a stunning bay. The water is crystal clear and calm and the best part is we had the whole bay to ourselves. The house is very private and great for utmost relaxation. The house is well kept and has wifi, games, a full kitchen and outdoor showers. Columbus the caretaker was always available for any needs/questions/transportation we needed. And the food! It doesn't get much better than conch fritters and fresh grouper, Columbus arranged for someone to come in and cook for us - delicious!
The water is gorgeous and warm and the bay is large and great for long walks with a glass of wine in the evening.
Highly recommended, I have never been so relaxed in my life!
Winding Bay is probably one of the nicest beaches I've been on. The water was so perfectly warm and calm. The house is just steps from what seems as your own private beach. There are a few other homes on the bay but few people were there at the time. It was the perfect spot to propose to my lovely girlfriend (she said yes!).
The home is amazing! Perfect condition and had everything we needed. The owners arranged for us to be picked up from the airport by a very nice gentleman who oversees the property for them. His name is Columbus. He even made sure we got food and drinks before arriving to the home and arranged for a rental car for us to use. The kitchen was just remodeled and is stunning. Each bedroom has it's own bathroom and there are 2 outside showers, which made it great to rinse before entering the house.
It is the perfect place to relax and enjoy life! We will be back to "High Tide".
As two couples, we had the pleasure of enjoying High Tides late March, early April. It is truly a special property. We often rent throug VRBO, and although never disappointed, this was by far our best experience. The photos don't do the house and bay justice. The way the bedrooms are divided on either side of a large living space makes the house is comfortable. Everything is attractive and user friendly.
We cooked most evenings at home. We found great fish at the town dock and everything we'd need in the kitchen to make simple meals. Many a cocktail was enjoyed sitting on the patio, watching the light change on the water. The design of the house allows for viewing the best of the gardens and the large bay from every area. There is a great balance of sun and shade spots so you can be part of the outdoors without the risk of burning to a crisp. The water is calm and encourages swimming with starfish, rays and tiny fish of brillant colors.
Our housekeeper, Lilly, was a lovely person and took great pride in keep the house in primo condition. She was able to create natural beauty, both inside and out, with wonderful flower arrangement made from local materials. You have but to ask and she is more than willing to accomodate.
I'd recommend High Tides to couples, or family, wanting to explore the less known islands. Its private but not remote. It suites both those who want to venture out and keep busy, as well as those who want to veg and cozy in. It is ideal for anyone who looks to add to their mental book of great memories. We were sad to see the time end and hopeful to return.
We had the pleasure of staying at High Tide over New Year’s. This is a beautiful villa in a stunning location. Winding Bay is a beautiful beach with an amazing history, that has a few upscale homes and the old Italian Venta club resort on it. There is a booklet in the villa with a story of the fascinating history of the Winding Bay development that we very much enjoyed reading. It is located on the Atlantic side and so benefits from the breeze (fewer mosquitoes than the Caribbean side) but is in a protected bay, so the waters are calm and clear. The villa is huge and impressive and right on the beach (no steps!). We jogged the length of the beach in the mornings and in the evenings strolled along the beach with a glass of wine. Daily maid service by a very sweet lady named Lily, and a wonderful caretaker named Columbus to help with needs and questions. There is a huge patio that looks out onto the beach, and with the WiFi, I was able to do work outside with the most beautiful view you can imagine. There is also a flat screen satellite TV and DVD player (although it was more fun to watch the beach during the day and the stars at night). This is my third visit to Eleuthera, and having stayed at Ten Bay, North Palmetto Point, and Gregory Town, I found that Winding Bay was a surprisingly convenient location to stay on the island. It is very close to Tarpum Bay, where we could pick up fresh lobster and fish at the dock, the Conch Master’s stand where I picked up delicious conch salad, Bert’s for the Best (small grocery store), Kinky’s (gas station and convenience store), Bobbette’s stand where I picked up delicious homemade guava jam, and only 15 minutes from Rock Sound Marketplace where there is a large grocery store and liquor store. It’s also a decent drive to my favourite beach, Light House Beach. The owners were extremely responsive and friendly with all of our questions, and this was very much appreciated. High Tide is a hidden gem and the owners are very lucky to own such a remarkable property in such a fantastic location. Thank you for the wonderful stay.
High Tide is located on the Atlantic side of Eleuthera situated on a gorgeous two-mile long white sand beach that wraps around Winding Bay. There you will experience privacy, unspoiled beaches, and tranquility.
