The Quintessential Mid-Coast Maine Experience

from the moment lauren, our dog nikki and i crossed over the causeway leading to spruce island, we knew we were about to have a unique vacation experience. the property was lovely, with the house on a wooded knoll overlooking a well maintained backyard, with an inviting deck open to abundant stargazing at night. once we entered Cresthouse we found everything to our liking, a large living/family room with fireplace, a kitchen/dining area with all amenities plus a woodstove, comfortable bedrooms downstairs and well kept bathrooms. Upstairs, although not used by us was equally impressive, quite capable of easily handling all the kids and pets with room to spare. per the owner's recommendations and some friendly neighbors we were able to 'walk to the water' everyday to two outstanding rocky maine beaches. We were fortunate to have clear warm days and could see the outlying islands offshore and the Camden Hills in the distance everyday. Overall, the description of the property is quite accurate and the vacation exceeded our expectations. naturally, you are on an island, away from it all, but close enough to have access to many beautiful towns along the midcoast, allowing you a choice of either enjoying that privacy on spruce island, or having a terrific home base, by which you can explore and appreciate all that the midcoast has to offer. this was our third trip to the area and by far the most enjoyable, of course Cresthouse and Spruce Island played a big part in this vacation's success....and we plan to return in 2009.
Many thanks for the Smiths for thinking of everything~
joe, lauren and nikki
