WONDERFUL WEEK AT ROSE COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
Emmanuel pays meticulous attention to detail, from managing your initial enquiry to making sure everything runs perfectly at the cottage. The cottage itself is so pretty, beautiful little private rose garden to enjoy in warm weather, and cosy inside with everything you need to enjoy your stay. Ideally situated in a quiet village within walking distance of two nice pubs, easy access to other more touristy towns, but perfect home base for long hikes through the beautiful countryside and tiny villages. Would definitely return!

COULDN'T BE BETTER.

Couldn't be better.

My husband and I stayed a week in Rose Cottage, Upper Oddington, both of which are as charming as their names. The cottage was cozy and comfortable and had everything we might have wanted: all cooking and eating utensils, combined washer/dryer for clothes, a dishwasher, a good shower, comfortable bed plus a guest bedroom for our guests, television and sitting room. The bedroom windows look out on the other cottages of Rose Tree Walk, the gabled roofs of other village houses, trees and gardens. Unlike our nights in Los Angeles, those at Rose Cottage are so quiet and dark that we slept very soundly. The cottage couldn’t be more pleasant and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We would happily have stayed longer and hope to return.

SATISFIED CUSTOMERS

  • 5 of 5
My mother and I were looking for an autumn holiday at short notice and we wanted somewhere warm with comfortable chairs and good reading lights in case the weather wasn't good. Rose Cottage was highly recommended in internet reviews on these counts and lived up to the expectations these reviews had raised. It was clean, comfortable and well-equipped, Wallace and Betty were as friendly, helpful and welcoming as other guests had said, and the owner was helpful and prompt in replying to queries. We found the instructions for the equipment comprehensive and the guides to the Cotswolds very useful. Our only disappointment was that the weather was unseasonably mild and so we didn't need to use the woodburning stove! One thing that should be highlighted before people book, though, is that the staircase is steep and narrow - there's a rope 'hand-rail' and using that my mother (a spry 85-year-old) had no problems with the stairs, but very young children or people with mobility problems might.
We can't comment on local pubs and restaurants, but we enjoyed Jiri's tearooms in Winchcombe and the cafe at the gallery in Chipping Campden and at local National Trust properties. Also, the cottage's contents introduced us to the work of a local artist who produces the Yellow Hat Tribe pictures and our visit to her studio (just off the Stow to Burford road) was a real highlight.

Lovely stay in this typical Cotswold cottage where every detail has been thoughtfully thought of by the owners and Wallace and Coral. Great wood burner and pet friendly. Will be returning

ROSE COTTAGE IS A DREAM

  • 5 of 5
This is my second stay at Rose Cottage, and I hope to continue to stay there in the years to come. It is so charming—18th century, beams, wood stove in the original stone fireplace, decorated most tastefully in furniture and art—exactly what I want in a country cottage.
The location could not be better; there is so much beautiful countryside around and attractions to see. It is set in a tiny village with basically no traffic except for the people who live there, so it is QUIET. All you hear is birdsong. Sometimes mooing.
The owners have successfully tried to think of everything the renter might need. I never needed something, that I didn't open a drawer and find just the thing. Cold? They have extra heaters. Hot? They have a fan. Lots of extra blankets and duvets on very comfortable beds and pillows. (I do miss that pillow......) With the cool air, the quiet, and the pillows and bed, I slept like I haven't slept in months.
There are two bedrooms WITH GOOD READING LIGHTS. So rare! One European king (U.S. queen) bed, and the other has a double.
There is a lovely garden with a table and chairs (sun umbrella if you need it) The garden has birds and lovely flowering plants.
In other words, I'm in love with the place.

ABSOLUTELY LOVELY COTTAGE, PERFECT COTSWOLD RETREAT.

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here for a week in a May. It was a last minute decision and we only booked a few days before. Emmanuel was very helpful and the price was very reasonable given what a lovely cottage Rose is. I would recommend Rose cottage to everyone. It's beautiful looking cottage in an absolutely lovely location. We did have trouble gaining access to the key box but Wallace and Betty were very helpful and this was the only little problem we encountered during our stay. Rose cottage is very well equipped, it has everything you could possibly need. We found the fast wi-fi particularly useful. The beds are very comfortable as are the furnishings downstairs. The decor throughout the cottage is charming and it looks much much better in person than in the pictures we saw. The village of upper oddington is very sweet with lots of lovely cotswoldy houses. There are lots of good pubs in the area, we particularly liked the Plough at Kingham. There are also lots of good walks nearby including a footpath directly opposite the house that our Labrador enjoyed. It's a great place to explore the Cotswold's from or you can stay in and enjoy a cosy evening in front of the very beautiful fire. We had a really lovely time at Rose cottage and would thoroughly recommend it to all.

The Cotswolds is one of the UK’s premier conservation areas and the country’s largest designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Small villages with honey-coloured stone cottages nestle amongst fields and forests. Quaint churches, large manor houses, bustling market towns and lively pubs keep visitors busy. Tourist attractions abound in the tightly packed area, from outdoor sports to museums and cultural events.

Upper Oddington is a well-preserved village close in the centre of the northern Cotswolds. Together with Lower Oddington, it comprises a large conservation area, with 16th century alleyways, a 12th century Norman Church and 25 listed buildings in this small area. Each village has its own outstanding pub. Many walking trails lead through the village and into the countryside.
