Notes: Our cabin is a single story home located just three stairs from ground level. Good fit for children given single step down to sandy beach. The water is clear and weed-free, with a gradual drop from 0 feet at beach to 3 feet in swimming area off the dock. We DO NOT take pets, NO exceptions made. We recently put new windows on the front porch. We have also built a 2 story garage building that is a few feet away from the rental cabin. This garage building is not included in the advertised rental as we use that. The bottom level is garage and the top level is a loft. It is separate and very private.

Great Place to Make Memories

4 of 5

My kids keep asking to go back to this cabin. The cabin itself fits the quaint description, but it has that camping feel that you want on a vacation with the family on the lake. The property is well-stocked and really clean, while the gracious owners go out of their way to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The fishing is very good, we caught several large bass and the large deck provided a relatively safe place for the kids to play and fish as well. The outdoor/lake "toys" are plentiful and available for use! The sunsets were spectacular and the nights by the fire were some of the more memorable moments of our trip.

This is a great place to get some real vacation, it's away from everything and yet "close enough" at the same time. The Blue Paddle was a fantastic culinary experience just around the corner and in the other direction a wonderful antique shop/barn. This cabin is highly recommended!

The perfect getaway

We had a wonderful time on our vacation here. It was the perfect mix of being able to relax and have lots of things for play. We had a 2 year old and 3 month old during our stay and the amenities suited us well. We loved the hammock, amazing sunsets, having a full kitchen, and of course the paddle boat. Very friendly owners who accommodated the fact that we had young children. We look forward to hopefully coming again soon!

Great place for kids

Overall we really loved staying at this cottage. It is not fancy, but was immaculate and very well-stocked (kitchen, cleaning supplies, etc). It was great for the kids to be able to run about outside and what a wonderful, relaxing time to sit in the shade while the kids played. We gave this cabin 4 stars because we couldn't swim while we where there. The lake was really, really low. This, of course, is no fault of the owners. My only problem at all was that the owners did not let us know ahead of time so that we could do some research to find some places to swim since swimming at the house was not reasonable for kids (we did take the rowboat out and swim from that, but toddlers stayed behind). That said, the very, very nice owners came and raked the beach of all the rotting lake weeds which made the beach 100x nicer for us, they offered suggestions for things to do, and were really nice to me when I messed up and took the keys with me! We would definitely go back!

a beautiful and relaxing escape

The rustic cabin is all we needed. The lakeside spot is beautiful, with a refreshing breeze and spectacular sunsets. The hammock and boats allow for taking full advantage of the lake. The beach was a bit mucky when we were there, but we still used it for swimming. Most of all, the owners are extremely nice and very attentive. They even replaced an oar that broke, so we could continue to enjoy the lake. Our 7 and 3 year olds enjoyed exploring -- it's a very safe and wholesome place for a family vacation.

Relaxing

5 of 5
Submitted: August 2, 2011 Stayed: July 2011
This was our second stay at this VT lake home - our first stay was 2008. The home has all you need for a week of fun on the lake. The house has all the neccessities and does the job well. But to be honest with you will want to be sitting on the shore the most of your time there. The waterfront is great with a great dock. Bring your lounge chair out to the end of the dock and you can sit for hours. The owners built a second building next to this home that really adds to your privacy while visiting. We brought our kayaks and took them out every morning... the motor boat traffic did not concern us at all. They have a paddle boat available and the kids had a great time with it.
I recommend this vacation to anyone that enjoys boating, swimming and relaxing!
