Waste of Money

Our family rented this house with great expectations from the description and emails from the owner. They were both packed full of lies. Where do I start, with the 6+ hours of cleaning the 4 ladies of our party had to do on arrival or the blatant lie about the indoor pool (always closed in the summer) and the game room with pool table (country club NEVER had one according to the staff). The list would go on forever so I will just mention the highlights. The automatic sprinklers came on every morning at 5 am rendering the back deck and it's worn out furniture soaked and useless till about 1 pm. The rest of the house followed suit with furniture falling apart, fridge leaking water all over the kitchen floor and we had to unclog the plumbing everyday of the entire stay.The one garage door did not open at all and the other was intermittent at best, thank God it went up the last day of our nightmare vacation to get my daughter's car out of the garage. The video collection contains all the bonus dvds but none of the movies, which was not really a problem because the audio didn't work on the surround sound when we tried it. Don't think about doing laundry there unless you have 6 hours to dry your cloths in a dryer without a heating element. The central air did work to 72 degrees which lets the outside wall bedrooms at about 78 degrees and more humid than a cave. The line about walking distance to the beach is a bit of a stretch, you could walk it in about 30 minutes which still beats the 45 minute drive and 20 minutes looking for parking (because the promised parking passes were not provided). To sum it up once we made it to Bethany Beach (had to go there because the mentioned private beach is about 10 square feet of dirty sand beside a swamp) we found nice beach houses within 2 minutes for less. My recommendation for this house is to stay far away.
Owner's Response: The renters immediately following this family and for the rest of the summer found non of these problems. When we, the owners, arrived at the end of August, non of these issues existed. We encourage all renters to report issues and malfunctions and we have them attended to immediately.
