Comments from guests who have stayed in my personal condo C618:
Hi Kathy, I just wanted to write to thank you for such wonderful accommodations in Kihei. You are a thoughtful and considerate person. There was nothing you hadn’t thought of to make our stay more pleasant. The view was beautiful, the condo was homey and the driving incredible. Thank you so very much. We will be back possibly next year, but more probably ’06.
I have already recommended several others to contact you. I also wanted to commend you once more on your artwork. It is lovely and now that I have seen its inspiration, I can appreciate it even more. Once again thank you. Sandra and Chad, Pasadena, MD.
'Aloha Kathy! Thank you for letting us stay in your condo...very nicely decorated and a wonderful location:) We had a great time in Maui and will definitely be back again someday. We kept very busy seeing many places and spending the last few days snorkeling a lot and enjoying the vacation.

Kathy McCartney is the owner of MauiVision Rentals. MauiVision became a reality and a business starting with Ms. McCartney's personal condo C618. The idea to start her own business came about while working for her friends Sharene and Harrison Klein of Hawaii-Holiday. Her friends were in need of a vacation and Kathy volunteered to house sit their beautiful Big Island home and business office. The Klein's have been a guiding force in helping Kathy get started with her business.
'MauiVision is a business I love because I get to share the Aloha Spirit, the beauty of the land, and talk story with people from around the world. It is nice to know that we can contribute to someone's Hawaiian vacation experience in a positive way. We love to hear back from our happy guests.'
Kathy used to live on the island of Oahu with her US Navy family when she was a young girl. Her family later moved to Southern California. She knew that one day she would return to Hawaii, the place she fell in love with long ago. Taking a leap of faith she purchased her Maui condo June 2002 this was the beginning of fulfilling her prophecy of once again returning to Hawaii soil.
Kathy is an artist who is inspired by the beauty of the islands. She captures the beauty she experiences with oil paint on canvas. 'Painting the beauty of the Hawaiian Islands is another way for me to feel close to this special place I call home. I moved to Maui full-time year 2012 and paint the Hawaiian landscape and people.
Kathy McCartney purchased this condo in 2002
When I began my search for Maui home I kept repeating to myself location, location location! The realtor I worked with at the time told me how wonderful the Kihei Akahi Resort is in terms of attracting repeat visitors. So after viewing several properties over the Internet I bought my home away from home not having viewed it in person. I took a big chance to follow my dream to Maui and two months after the purchase, I did finally get a chance to visit my new home. I was nervous and also very happy about my decision.
The location is wonderful like the realtor and others I interviewed expressed. We are directly across the street from desirable Kamaole Beach Park II and other great beaches that connect to ours. Everything is nearby and within walking distance of our condo: beach, restaurants, health food store, yoga studio, entertainment, shopping etc.
My particular property is a top floor unit away from the elevators and road so it is in a nice quiet section of the complex. As the years have gone I have made many new friends in Kihei. Our home owners association is one of the best. Our property grounds are well maintained and cared for. The staff is wonderful and faithful and many of them have been working at the Kihei Akahi for years.
My condo is not just a vacation rental it is our home away from home. We have many repeat visitors who feel this is a beautiful place to vacation because it is not cold and sterile like a hotel room, it is warm and inviting.
C618 my home, is located on the top floor of building C at the Kihei Akahi Resort. Here you will enjoy spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, Mount Haleakala, Kaho'olawe Island, Molokini Crater, tropical gardens, and glowing sunset skies. Not only will you experience more peace and quiet on the upper floor but we get a nice breeze off the ocean. We provide our guests with free Wi-Fi Internet cable access for their laptops. This beautiful home has recently been updated with new textured ceilings/walls, new paint and Crown Molding; tropical furniture; island style artwork and Asian accent pieces. The décor has many rich colors sure to please the eye. Kathy's home has new tile floors throughout the condo, new cabinetry and counter tops. This unit has new AC (June 08); new side by side refrigerator ice maker with water dispenser.
If my home is not available I help rent other properties at the Kihei Akahi Resort and a home in Haiku, and several beautiful properties in Ka’anapalai.
Aloha Kathy....just home from our 4th stay with you... D204 3rd time and your unit C618 one time:-)!!! As always, everything was perfect :-) thank you for making the process so easy...and for the wonderful welcome basket....love the local goods and your beautiful artwork cards....going back to the Kihei Akahi and Maui is like going home! I hate to brag you up too much....makes the calendars fill up faster it seems:-D.... mahalo to you again....also....for the cleaning crew....everything is always impeccable! Till next time.....
we were pleasantly surprised the unit was much more then expectated. Clean Comfortable kitchen is fully set up to prepare any meals , The bed is comfortable, the view is fantastic and the facility were immaculate and garden and pools and grilling areas were clean obvious that the complex has pride of ownership and a great management. location Perfect for any beach activity as it is right across the street. Restaurants within walking distances.. oh yes and the sounds of the birds as you sit on the lanai enjoying the ocean view, ready to come back!!
November 2012 - Unit C617. The location is great, directly across the beach from Kam II, 5 minute drive to Wailea, and no more than 15 minutes from all of the Wailea and Makena beaches. The condo is very nice and stocked with everything one needs to cook and stay for a week or more in Kihei. Very nice view from the lanai of the ocean. Great value for the nightly rate. Our only dislike was the futon couch. While is fits the decor nicely, it's not at all comfortable and I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be to sleep on. I would love to see it replaced with a comfy sleeper couch or recliner couch.
My husband and I's flight was the day after we had an interstate move and 5 days after he defended his dissertation. As you can imagine, we were burned out! For our accommodations, I didn't want to worry about anything: I wanted a clean, well-maintained place with a great location that was not a hassle to book. If this is what you're looking for, you should contact Kathy to a book a VRBO!
I, like other reviewers, was nervous about using VRBO; I initially thought it would be much more safe and comfortable using an online vendor. My experience with Kathy, however, felt much more secure and personal. I wrote her an email, and in less than 24 hours she called me back. It was so refreshing to do business with something that wasn't automated! She was very professional, answered all my questions, provided photos and a listing of the VRBO. What I also appreciate is that there were no hidden/surprise costs, she broke every single cent down so there was no surprise.
The condo itself is VERY clean, with everything needed to cook meals, towels, television, and wireless. It was also tastefully decorated, and the bed was fairly comfortable. Highly recommended!
My daughter, my sister and I had a great girls' getaway at Kathy's condo C618 for 11 days in January. The location was perfect, right across from the beach, with views from our 6th floor lanai of both the sunrise over Haleakala and the sunset over the ocean! The condo is well-maintained and Kathy has provided all the comforts of home, including one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. I think this is one of the best values in Kihei and we will definitely return,
The Kihei Akahi Resort is directly across the street from the popular Kamaole Beach Park II, Approximately two minute walk to Kihei Boat Ramp, A five minute stroll to the border of Wailea and then Keawakapu Beach, An eight minute car ride to The Shops at Wailea and the resorts, great diving and snorkeling at nearby Molokini Crater, Ahihi Kina'u Natural Area Reserve, La Pe'rouse, and Turtle town
