DALWHINNIE Cottage, Bald Head Island, oceanfront, views of Cape Fear and Frying Pan Shoals, direct beach access. Whimsical, bright oceanfront cottage, 3 story lantern house and separate guest crofter cottage (4th bedroom & bath) reverse living area on 2nd floor offering clear views of beach and ocean, No cars! only golf carts for property owners and guests. Temporary memberships in Bald Head Island Club (George Cobb 18 hole golf course, tennis, swimming, croquet) and Shoals Club (swimming at the point of Cape Fear) available with rental. Two master suites, 1 king 1st floor oceanfront and 1 queen in guest crofter cottage. 1st floor bedroom - 2 double beds, 3rd floor bedroom, 2 twin beds. Cottage sleeps 10 comfortably. Access to island is by passenger ferry. Our island is smog free, car free, sign free, limited commercial development, a place where you can relax and your children can play freely. Watch the sunrise and sunset, clear night skies with no smog, only the moon and stars.

30 Miles S of Wilmington, NC; take Ferry from Indigo Plantation in Southport, NC. to Bald Head Island harbor, a 2 mile trip, no cars on ferry. Tram transportation from harbor to Dalwhinnie is included with ferry ticket. Island is inhabited by deer, fox, racoon, possum, alligators, and many birds, including the painted bunting. wood storks, Baltimore Orioles; Loggerhead turtles nest here. Bald Head has a protected maritime forest, miles of white sandy beaches (south, east, and west), and of special interest is the physical tip of Cape Fear with Frying Pan Shoals extending beyond. Also site of Fort Holmes ruins; Old Baldy lighthouse, an active turtle conservancy with loggerhead turtle program, tidal creeks, a harbor with available slips and sailing club, and much more.....

This house is our favorite place for relaxation in the world! We have spent our last 3 spring school vacations here and hope to continue for many years to come. The home is incredibly well appointed and the location magnificent! Our 4 girls (ages 13 to 5) await each spring break with baited breath, as do we.
I am confident that this property will exceed your expectations...enjoy!

Wonderful stay at Dalwhinnie! We highly recommend it to anyone looking for a house on the beach in an ideal location (near point but also 5 minutes from the market). The house is just as gorgeous as the photos show. We loved having the internet and access to house games and bikes.

The most wonderful feature is the second floor big room that includes the kitchen - bar - and living area. The views out of the big windows and off the 2 decks are amazing. What a fabulous place to relax! Also, calling all cooks! The kitchen is stocked with an array of utensils and small appliances that will make the cooking experience much easier. The family cook also feels part of the gang due to the open room feel.

The owner is delightful and made our lives much easier by providing instructions for our stay. We felt like she was looking out for us. It was nice.

We highly recommend!

I rented Dalwhinnie for a surprise getaway for my wife's 40th birthday. Three other couples joined us, and it was a GREAT trip. The cottage is all that it was advertised to be -- very inviting w/ great layout and views of the ocean, and easy beach access. The Shoals Club just down the road offered great amenities as well. The island is a wonderful place. The owners were a pleasure with which to work. We'll definitely be back.

We have been to BHI several times over the last several years and have never found a home or landlord as accomodating as you and your home.
