Our vision is that this would be place of blessing for couples. Our desire is to honor God's definition of marriage
Located just off the beaten path near the village of Gap, you'll find this cute getaway nestled in the quiet, among mostly Amish farms and businesses. This is a fully remodeled and tastefully decorated escape. It whispers romance, relaxation, and renewal.
You can eat on the back deck, relax in the hot tub and count the stars, or sit on the patio and enjoy the view of the tastefully landscaped backyard with a small pond and or watch the neighoring Amish children play.
In the stone basement an old original fireplace and comfy sofa beckons you to sit by the fire. The romantic bedroom suite features a comfortable king-size bed with a partial canopy. The fully equipped kitchen makes in house meal preparation easy. This is an ideal place for honeymoons and anniversaries, and truly a place you'll want to come back to. The vaulted bedroom ceiling with exposed beams and skylight is very distinctive.
This historic cottage is part of Spring Wood Organic Farm which is a 220 acre third generation Mennonite family farm operated by Roman and Lucy Stoltzfoos with the help of their eleven children. Most days you will see cattle and other animals peacefully grazing on well kept pastures nearby. All this is within 20 minutes of Lancaster's main tourist area, many good shopping malls, and excellent restaurants.

Roman and Lucy Stoltzfoos are operating Spring Wood farm for over 32 years which is a 3rd generation Mennonite family farm where Roman was born and raised. They were married on a bright sunny day in July 1978, near Iowa city, Iowa where most of Lucy's family still lives. After more than three years on a church mission near Charlottesville Va we were needed on the Home farm in Lancaster County Pa. So after working for dad one year we took over the dairy and were kept busy since raising our family in the Garden Spot. Eleven children and eight grandchildren later we are still kept busy on this 220 acre organic dairy and turkey farm. We also run 2500 layers that are free range grass fed happy hens. We enjoy sharing our slice of the country and some choice farm raised foods with cottage guests. Healthy children, Healthy food and Healthy marriages are the missions of Spring Wood Organic Farm. We want couples to be renewed as they pullback from busy schedules and take time to love up on each other and bask in the blessing and fulfillment of the true marriage covenant. It is a gift from God and one of His choice creations.
Roman or Lucy purchased this cottage in 2002
We enjoyed over the years of our marriage getting away as a couple to romantic little retreats and when we acquired this property with a small run down little house on it we thought of perhaps turning into a romantic getaway which would be a retreat for couples. It is refreshing to see the many that could benefit from their time here. We have enjoyed making romantic dreams come true for couples and love to host those interested in the blessing of romance.
You will be able to relax and really spend quality time together. There are books, tapes, romantic games, CDs, and DVDs here for your learning and enjoyment. There is something for everyone and you could spend several days or more here without becoming bored. Our desire is to honor the purpose for which God created marriage! Our goal is that you would be bonded in a new and refreshing way as you rest and relax at the cottage.
What a lovely place. I can't say enough about "The Little Stone Cottage". It's more than the pictures and the description!
I just happened to find "The Little Stone Cottage" by accident one day, while looking for a place to surprise my husband as a Christmas gift. I truly believe that God led me to find this oasis. My husband was totally surprised, as I didn't show him any pictures, only told him we were going to PA.
When we walked into the house, I felt like I was in a different world. (I'm not going to give it away). The little details meant so much. We're already talking about coming again next year, same time. It's a beautiful area.
We really liked to have our coffee on the porch in the morning and watch the kids walking to school and the buggies going by. In fact, the porch was one of our favorite places to just sit and relax.
We loved the hot tub! The raw milk, granola, grape nuts, eggs and yogurt!! Yum! We purchased yogurt and Milk to take home, but will be so disappointed when it's all gone. I'll definitely be making the granola and grape nuts soon! I purchased all the ingredients at the Amish market.
We had a wonderful experience at your church. We received such a warm welcome . We enjoyed the service. Our invitation to Fanny and Roman's house was wonderful. We had a nice lunch and afternoon fellowship with their friends/family.
It was a pleasure to visit with you and Lucy on Sunday and meet some of your family. Thank you so much for your hospitality.
What a weekend we had. Your "Little Stone Cottage" was everything and more as to what your website claims. This a must stay for couples of any age to enjoy some quiet time alone. I was not sure how we were going to fill our days, but they went by too quickly. We did so enjoy the hot tub and massage table, my husband was skeptical about getting into a hot tub when it was so cold outside, he found it very nice I must say. We enjoyed all of the organic items from your farm, in fact, we went down to the farm before we left to purchase some to take home. I am going to try my hand tonight at making butter, butter milk and sour cream. We were so happy to experience your church and congregation, it was a wonderful experience. The congregation was welcoming and so very warm. Please pass this one to them. Our invitation to Elvin and Dorothy's was wonderful, they were the perfect hosts. Their family and friends/relations were warm and very good conversationalists. We were afraid that we might be a bit shy but were included in every facet of the meal and fellowship; totally enjoyed ourselves. Now back to the cottage; if you see this website and read the reviews you just can't help yourself, you must go. The music, books and other literature have been well chosen. I am sorry that we didn't get to meet Lucy, I bet she's a peach. Anyway, if you are looking for some time well spent with your spouse please do visit the "Little Stone Cottage", well worth the money and time traveled. There is so much to do and see within a 15 mile radius that there is no way to get bored but we only traveled around for a few hours on Saturday and spent the rest of the day enjoying each others company. Sunday we spent time at worship and a couple of hours at Elvin and Dorothy's then back to the cottage for even more us time. So glad that we did this and hope to go back again, maybe during a different season of the year; maybe September 2016, we'll see. Thank you so much for your mission for loving couples, the Lord knew what he was doing by putting the ministry in your minds, you are doing a wonderful thing and doing a good job with it. This was our third, "Second Honeymoon"; married 34 years this coming June. We would like to thank Brenda and Ed for turning us on to this beautiful place.
I just happened to stumble upon this Little Stone Cottage. I had no idea what we were in for. My husband and I have had a very high stress level and needed time to get away and breathe. We went to this cottage expecting to return with some much needed R&R. Not only did we return home rejuvenated, we returned with a stronger bond between each other and God! We just loved every second we had there. We stayed during a snow storm and very cold temps. It was a lifetime experience from relaxing in the hot tub while it was snowing to using the massage table by the fireplace. Not only was the cottage perfect in every way but Roman & Lucy are very nice and caring people. We enjoyed meeting and conversing with them very much! The raw milk and organic eggs was a super plus! Something you probably wouldn't get elsewhere. We can't wait to return for another get away! I highly recommend this place for a husband and wife!!
My husband n I stayed here for our 6th anniversary. We loved it!!!!! Very clean and private. The owners were helpful and he called and stopped up a bit to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The décor was nice the snacks were great! Had candles lit and a very cozy romantic atmosphere the minute we walked in the door!! The hot tub was AWESOME in 5* weather. Enjoyed the many good books on Marriage and the GOD focus!! Was a blessing for us to just get away and be focus on our marriage!! Left feeling very blest and refreshed!!! Would definitely recommend this wonderful place!! Already looking forward to coming back.
My husband and I stayed here for our 8th wedding anniversary and we fell in love! With this place and with each other. The attention to details really make the place, along with all of the activities just for couples. It is such a beautiful place. We came away refreshed and renewed and will be back again! <3
This is the place where Jim and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. We were there this week and LOVED every minute! Off the beaten, tourist trail and smack dab in the middle of Amish country! BEAUTIFUL, PEACEFUL and WONDERFUL! We can't wait to go back!
