No matter which activity you choose to pursue, our cabin will make a great 'base camp' for your family’s excursions. How does the saying go? 'When in Rome, do as the Romans do.' Our log cabin with its exposed beam structure, pine walls, and log trimmed stairways provide the perfect setting for a mountain get-away. The 2,600 square foot L-shaped floor plan offers the option of two private living spaces. The main level consists of a living area, full kitchen (complete with Jen-air range, dishwasher, and full sized refrigerator with ice maker), bath, utility room, and bedroom. A loft bedroom with two double beds sits above this space. The area above the garage contains a huge great room, (1,000 square feet), as well as a kitchenette and bath, plus a spiral staircase leading to another loft bedroom with two double beds.
The east, south, and west walls of the great room contain an expanse of windows which provide a great view as well as catch the light you’ll enjoy for crafts, tying flies, etc. The deck off of the great room provides a spectacular view of the Rio Grande Valley. Each living area is provided with a wood burning stove. Electric heat is also available. Two water heaters help insure that your shower will be a warm one. The area joining the two legs of the house is a large triangle shaped deck facing the southwest and the San Juan Mountains. The view from the North side of the house showcases the La Garitas. Be sure to note the chimney in the great room which was constructed of amethysts and petrified wood gathered from the silver mines north of town. Our cabin is located two miles southwest of Creede, Colorado, less than one-quarter mile from the Rio Grande River.
