Our genuine log cabin is nestled in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, just off the 441 spur. The semi-secluded cabin sits almost at the top of a mountain, giving a sensational view and a simply heavenly feel. Yet within 10-15 minutes, you can be at any of the major attractions of the Smokies.
The log cabin was built by the renown photographer of the Smoky Mountains, James Thurston. Its suite-like floor plan with large rooms containing open beamed cathedral ceilings, along with a warm, cozy décor make it the perfect cabin for a family of six or two couples. Each bedroom has its own attached bath.
You don't have to leave behind your four legged family members either. Sunset View is Pet Friendly! A large Pet Porter is stored in the lower level closet to be used when the family wants to go out for the evening, yet be sure the family canine or feline will be safe, as well as the cabin.
Sunset View is a cabin you'll want to return to again and again for a special relaxation and peacefulness that you can only experience from a porch swing, while watching the sun melt over the mountaintops.

Charles and Alice Curnick live in Louisville, Ky. Charles is retired from Jefferson County Public Schools and Alice is still working as a 3rd grade teacher. Both love the great outdoors. They live on a mini-farm with 3 horses, 3 labs (one yellow, one chocolate, and one black), 4 cats, and 'too numerous to count' goldfish in their backyard pond.
Alice Curnick purchased this cabin in 2005
We visited good friends, who are now our neighbors, for a weekend visit back in February 2005. We fell in love with the mountaintop and the fabulous view from it. One truly feels closer to heaven in the mountains!
We have made our cabin more than just logs and furniture. Everyone who stays tells us how warm and cozy it is. It is 'home away from home'. A very short drive from the Smoky Mountain Parkway, right in the midddle between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We are just 10 minutes from Dixie Stampede and Dollywood. For the nature lovers, the location of the cabin allows quiet morning and evening walks up a picturesque mountain road. Only a 30-40 minute drive to Cade's Cove. 20 minutes to Five Oaks Mall and 'Miracle' in Pigeon Forge.
Cabin was great, Wonderful views from the area and the owners were great to work with. We will use this cabin again and again.
This cabin is absolutely beautiful! This was our first time staying in a cabin and what an amazing experience it was. The cabin is ideally located in between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge but secluded up in the mountains to have your own piece of heaven. We fully enjoyed the cabin, the fireplace, and the view. When it was time to leave we were all so sad, we didn't want to leave. I have to agree with the rest of the reviews, the pictures on VRBO DO NOT do this cabin justice, it's absolutely beautiful and very clean. We fell in love with the town, mountains and Tennessee. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Alice and Charles for letting use your cabin.
This cabin is absolutely perfect! It's warm & cozy w/beautiful views & a great location!! The owners were incredibly nice & very helpful w/me while I fumbled my way through things.
This was my very first time in the smokies & I loved it. We went on some great hikes in the morning & then would go down & spend the rest of the day in Gatlinburg. I'm seriously thinking of making this a new Christmas tradition :o)
I rented this cabin to spend a weekend with my 2 girls (4 and 7) before I had to move away to Florida.
Because of valentines day weekend choice was limited but this cabin was available and I must say I'm so glad I got this one.
Like in other reviews the pictures do NOT do this cabin justice.
Cabin was very clean and me and my girls had a awesome time.
It was cold and snowing, eventhough the hot tub was nice hot and comfortable my two little girls enjoyed the large tub in the basement in which they could play and watch TV at the same time.
We truly enjoyed staying here, we cuddled up on the couch, had the fireplace going and watch movies. During the day we of course did all the things all tourists do.
This cabin is within 10 minutes from all the attractions in Pigeon Forge and if traffic allows towards Gatlinburg you be within 10-15 minutes downtown gatlinburg.
Again we had a great time, the cabin was great and the owners were great to deal with and very helpful to make this a unforgettable weekend for me and my daughters.
Thank you so much for letting us stay in your cabin and I'm 100% sure we will rent this one again.
This was our first stay at the cabin, and our experience was awesome. The property is VERY CLEAN and very well maintained. The location is ideal, with a very short trip up the mountain, and being located midway between Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. This cabin and its location ranked at the top of our list of 7-8 cabins we've vacationed in while in the area. Bears came right up beside the cabin on two different occasions. Do NOT judge this property based on its photos because it is so much nicer than the photos exhibit. We are in the process of making our reservations for October 2013 to visit and do some more autumn photography. Sunset View? Can't beat the quality, location, or the price.
We loved this comfortable cabin just outside of Pigeon Forge. Close to everything yet up in the hills away from the tourist traps in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. It was so nice to come home each day to such a peaceful, beautiful setting where we could just relax and enjoy the view, outdoor hot tub and huge indoor jacuzzi tub! Cabin is nicely decorated with "bear" motif--inlcuding a mother and 2 cubs hanging from the living room rafters. Very cute! We actually saw a mother and 2 cubs in Smokey Mts. Nat'l Park on the Cade Cove loop. Thanks for a wonderful stay and we hope to return.
