Further details for this vacation villa rental in Athens, Greece

Location - Our Identity The house was constructed in year 2002. It is located inside Schinias National Park, northeast of Athens, only a 3 minutes drive to a sandy beach with pine forest, 2 minutes to rocky beach, 3 minutes to taverns, 15 minutes from historic site of Marathon, 60 minutes from International Airport, 55 Kilometers from downtown Athens. We are a young couple in our 40s and still blooming. Rosa works as a translator and is fluent both in English and Italian. Stavros, after a B.Sc, an M.B.A. and a M.Sc. In Marketing at the Universities of Lancaster and UMIST in England, and 15 years of very active service as an export sales manager for some of the biggest wine companies in Greece, now spends more time with his family, owning a taxi service and providing his services as a tour and a trekking guide. We have a young daughter, Danae, age 5, who enjoys swimming in the gently sloping, shallow beach of Schinias, from mid April, up to (occasionally) beginning of December

-WHAT TO DO DURING OUR STAY? PLACES TO SEE That is totally up to you. You could enjoy the sea and spend the day in oriental laziness, or you could try some of the various water activities (including water surfing and jet ski), offered in the crystal clear waters of Schinias Beach. There is always the possibility of visiting nearby Marathon historic site, the archaeological site of Ramnous and the Marathon Museum, having Stavros as your personal guide. You can spend the entire day in Athens, visiting Acropolis, the Archaeological Museum, picturesque Plaka with its numerous taverns, Lycabetus Hill for an overwhelming view of the city and so many more. For short tours around Athens, there is the Temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion, with its unique sunset, the Kutuki cave at mount Hymetus, the Temple of Artemis at Vravrona.

Where Do We Dine? There are many fish and grilled meat taverns at a 3 minutes drive from our house, where you can enjoy excellent food at the edge of the sea, feeling the soft sand under your bare feet. At Nea Makri you can dine in a vast variety of restaurants. You also have the possibility of ordering pizza delivered at home, or you can ask Rosa to cook for you her famous, irresistible moussaka! Night Life Cinemas, beach bars and clubs at a 3-20 minute drive, or a quiet stroll along the little harbor of Nea Makri. That is, provided there is no full moon, because, in that case, you will most certainly prefer to enjoy your drink in our candle lit veranda. What to Pack Only your bathing suits, clothing, personal items, sunscreen lotion and dozens of films. We’ll provide linen and towels, road maps, isothermal bags to keep your fruit cold, snorkeling gear for your dives. If you are trekking oriented, please bring a pair of sturdy shoes and a lot of anticipation!

Other Activities: Shopping, parasailing, basketball court

Going to Greece was the fulfillment of a long-held dream. I cannot think of a better introduction to the country, its people and its culture than that we experienced through Rosa’s and Stavros’ warm hospitality and friendly guidance. Our stay at Aeolos was very comfortable, the views from the terrace were incredible, and the breakfasts were memorable. We ventured on three tours and were rewarded with exhilarating adventure, visits to the glorious antiquities of ancient Greece, and many indulgences in traditional Greek food and custom.

Not only will I recommend all this to anyone planning a vacation in Greece, I sincerely hope that I will return one day to this wonderful villa overlooking the Aegean.

We just got back after a very memorable week at Aeolos villa. Stavros and Rosa are very warm, caring and lovely people. We had a great day with Stavros in the Athens and it was indeed an unforgetable day!
We had been looked after by Stavros and Rosa from the minute we arrived. Our holiday was so relaxing as we always knew that we could call for help if needed (especially when you travel with three kids!).
The house has lovely views and the area is full of places to visit and explore.
We are very grateful to Stavros and Rosa for making our trip so special (it's a shame we could not meet Danae but hopefully... maybe one day in Cambridge:)

Did not live up expectations

We were really dissapointed with our stay here. House had fantastic views. However we found it to be very isolated. We also thought that we would have breakfast made for us on a daily basis, as it says in the descriptions, this however sadly was not the case - we were left some bacon, eggs & jars of jam - not homemade jam as stated..... and no fresh fruit.

The rooms were also very small & no the owners of the property said that they would return the next day to give us instructions and information - this sadly did not happen.

Also our fault for not reading the description correctly - this is actually a home which is lived in - so the wardrobes were full of the owners clothes etc - we therefore had no place to put our clothes apart from living in a suitcase.

We also thought that a cleaner would come and clean the house - this again sadly did not happen.

There was also dogs barking all night long and for those of you who do not like cats - there was obviously a cat which belonged to the home which was continously trying to get into the property.

That is my views. On a plus point Starvos was great and he was there to meet us at the airport which was necessary as without him the place would have be IMPOSSIBLE to find, it really is a bit out in the sticks.

We spent two weeks in Greece in October 2008. It was a terrific vacation. Stavros and Rosa are such terrific hosts. Our vacation could not have been as enjoyable without their terrific hospitality. Stavros is extremely knowledgeable about Greece and knows a lot about the best tour sites to visit. Our grandfather came to the US from Greece and he even helped us find our relatives in Athens that no one in our family had ever met. Stavros and Rosa made our vacation one of the most memorable trips of our life.

I highly recommend you stay at their villa or at the very least us Stavros as your personal tour guide.

Review Submitted: September 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We booked the entire villa for our family of 6 for 7
nights. We realized after our first day that 7 nights
was not nearly enough to see all of the wonderful
sights in proximity to the villa. The villa was lovely
and comfortable. We had 4 teenagers and 2 adults
and even the hard to please teenagers were happy
with the accommodations. The living area and
master bedroom had fantastic views of the sea and
the expansive windows brought a pleasant breeze
into the rooms. We did not choose the bed and
breakfast option, but our hosts, Rosa and Stavros,
could not have been more helpful or gracious.
Rosa made sure that all of our questions were
answered and needs were met. She advised us on
tours, restaurants, beaches and everything else we
wanted to see, including making hotel
arrangements for us in Athens. We had the best
times on the tours that were personally led by
Stavros. Our tour to Corinth and the Peloponnese
was great, punctuated by an exciting bungee jump
that the teenagers loved (but maybe Stavros loved
more!). Try to see Epidaurus at the end of the day
just before closing for an almost private experience
within the theater. We also did an all day tour to
Delphi and the Parnassos mountain area, stopping
for a distinctive and authentically prepared lunch
along the way. Our tour concluded with a visit to
the beautiful village of Arachova in Parnassos
where we found great pasta, great cheeses and
great views! There were many highlights to the
trip, but the most memorable may have been the
tour that Stavros, Rosa and Danae, their daughter
all accompanied us on the the island of Evia. We
hiked from the top of a chilly, windy and foggy
remote mountaintop surrounded by goats and
goatherds down a lushly vegetated gorge,
splashing in cold swimming areas along the way.
The hike culminated in a late lunch prepared
especially for us at a local taverna overlooking the
spectacular gorge scenery. The food was delicious,
but the company of Rosa, Stavros and Danae was
just as memorable. I can truly say that our
vacation to Greece was made the most successful
by the opportunities offered by Rosa and Stavros.
The kids and the adults will never forget it.
