RESTORED 18TH CENTURY STONE COTTAGE

Atglen Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 BR, 1 BA, Sleeps 2

This cottage is a recently restored small stone house built in the early 1700's. It is located on the residence of the Graber family. It sits in a secluded spot beside a beautiful creek, at the edge of a large wooded area. A rear, shaded, stone patio overlooks the creek. An additional patio contains an outdoor dining set, and outdoor fireplace/grill. Landscaped flower gardens surround the house. Hiking trails border the property.

On the first floor is an open beamed living room with a non-working fireplace, an adjoining fully equipped kitchen. On the second story is a bathroom with shower, and bedroom equipped with a queen-sized bed. A locally handmade quilt decorates the bed.

This is a romantic, get-away for two. It is the perfect 'home away from home' and is an easy drive to all the local tourist sites and wonderful shopping of Lancaster and Chester County.

Suitability:
  • non smoking only
  • pets not allowed

Our favorite getaway

  • 5 of 5
This was our third time staying at the beautiful stone cottage. It is a magical place filled with love, and spiritual refreshment. The cares of the world seem to melt away when you are here. The gardens are beautiful and the home cozy and romantic. Centrally located between Longwood Gardens and Strasburg- Bird-In Hand and Intercourse.

Joy and peace

  • 5 of 5
This is a second trip (our first last year) to celebrate Valentine's day and my husband's birthday, just a little late. It was, as the first time, wonderful! The simple beauty inside, and God's beauty in the nature he created outside, made for the perfect peaceful retreat. Due to our jobs, my husband and I don't have much time alone together. Free from the noise and craziness of the outside world, we so enjoyed this little haven of quiet. Everything was so comfortable and inviting. We once again enjoyed everything about the cottage. We cooked together, laughed together, and took walks on the paths in the snow. Thanks Frieda!

Amazing & idyllic find!

Amazing & idyllic find!

The cottage and landlord (Frieda) are, simply put, amazing. From first sight at the end of the driveway, my wife was squealing with excitement when she saw how cute the cottage was. Frieda and her family have clearly put a lot of effort and care into restoring the building--and their attention to detail extended to every part of the stay, from flowers on the kitchen table to chocolates by the bedside when we arrived. The setting is gorgeous and tranquil, with a bubbling creek just outside, yet within an easy drive of the sights of Lancaster County. I can't recommend the property highly enough: we'll definitely be coming back here! This is a true gem.

ABSOLUTELY - wonderful place to stay to visit the Amish country

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I absolutely loved this place. It is quaint, charming, comfortable and had everything we needed. Location was good for visiting sites both to the NW and SE and for just 'riding around' and covered bridge 'hunting'. This cottage helped us "experience" more fully the quiet and simple ways of the folks who live in this area. If we're ever in the area we would try to stay here again and recommend it to anyone traveling to this area. Freida was a pleasure to work with.

A wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was an absolute find. We loved staying here. It was magical for two, hidden away in the woods by a creek. We sat outside after a day out doing the local sights with a glass of wine from the very local vineyard and it was hard to believe we were in 21st century America. It is hard to praise it enough. It is very well done up, very comfortable and clearly this was done with a lot of thought and love. This felt like a personal mission, and we were the lucky recipients. For the US this is also unusually old, so full of character and exactly the sort of place we look for when travelling in Europe. Hardly what you would expect in rural Pennsylvania. We recommend this unreservedly.
