Solitude Condo Rental Photos and Description

2 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bathrooms, 1 Queen Sleeper Sofa, Sleeps 6 comfortably

Solitude Mountain Resort is conveniently located a short, 40 minute, drive by car or shuttle service from Salt Lake City International Airport. This four-season vacation destination is known for its unusually long Alpine skiing season, opening in November and closing in April. Solitude Mountain Resort averages over 500 inches of Utah’s lightest and best powder snow per year, has over 1,200 skiable acres accessed by eight chairlifts, 3 bowls and 65 trails with over 2000 vertical feet of elevation. Solitude also has a fine Nordic Center. With Solitude Mountain Resort as your accommodation, you can easily drive to Utah’s other close by fantastic skiing areas, Brighton, Alta, Snow Bird, Park City, Deer Valley and Canyons.

Summer attractions include hiking secluded trails to mountain lakes and passes. There is excellent rock climbing just a short drive down the canyon. Mountain biking around Solitude provides wonderful views and exercise. Drive over the Guardsman Pass to visit Park City.

Our non-smoking, no pet, 'mountain retreat' is located in Powderhorn Lodge in the heart of Solitude Mountain Resort's quaint Alpine Village. It is an unusually large, exterior corner, third floor unit with two large bedrooms, separated by the living area, and two full bathrooms. It will comfortably sleep six adult guests with appropriate privacy. Both bedrooms have king beds, and the spacious living room has a queen sleeper sofa, love seat, large comfortable chair, stone gas fireplace and large wall mounted HDTV. There are spectacular views in two directions from the corner living room and the large covered balcony porch with table and five chairs. Parking is included in the building’s heated underground garage with direct elevator access to the third floor. Our condo has been decorated and equipped for our and your convenience. Both of the bedrooms have wall mounted HDTVs, the living room entertainment center features a large HDTV with both DVD and VCR players. All 3 HDTVs have DirecTV with over 80 channel selections. High speed wireless internet access is provided by our passphrase protected system. Free hard wired internet access in our condo and free Solitude Village wireless access is included. Unlimited, free long distance calling for the continental United States, over 'land line' telephone. The stereo system has a multiple CD changer, iPod/MP3 player connection, cassette tape player, and AM/FM radio. A small selection of DVDs, VCR movies, books and games is stored in the TV cabinet. Be sure to bring your favorite CDs, DVDs and games.

The full kitchen is ready for you to prepare sumptuous meals. We love to cook. Food preparation is easy with the convenience of the well equipped kitchen, including accessories, utensils, and cookware. The dining area has a large dining table with six chairs and the adjacent counter top eat-in area has three bar stools. Powderhorn Lodge provides a complimentary ice maker in the laundry room. We love to return to our homey condo following a day of skiing, mountain biking, or hiking to enjoy the balcony overlooking the winter ice skating rink with the lighted trees or the summer paddle tennis court. A small selection of DVD's, VCR movies, books and games are stored in the TV cabinet. A larger selection of DVDs are available for rent in the Village Store.

The advantage of Powderhorn Lodge is the relative quiet and privacy of the building with its own outdoor hot tub and entry fireplace gathering area. The adjacent Eagle Springs Complex, a one minute walk away, houses the livelier and often noisier Club Solitude. Club Solitude privileges are included with your rental. At Club Solitude you can enjoy the outdoor heated pool, summer water slide, larger hot tubs, men’s and women’s saunas, equipped fitness center, children’s activity room including XBox360 systems, pool table, or watch a movie of your selection in the media room. Books and games are available for check out for use in our condo.

The advantage of Solitude Mountain Resort is right in the name. Peace, quiet, and solitude for your vacation enjoyment. Ski all day on Utah’s 'Greatest Snow on Earth' and likely not encounter a lift line or hike to a trout filled mountain lake with the occasional deer or moose along the way instead of a trail full of hikers. Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at the rustic Silverfork Lodge, just two miles down canyon or dine in the restaurants in the village. St. Bernard’s is truly fine dining. Or enjoy the quick service at Stonehaus, the Pizzeria, especially good for children who want to eat immediately. For a winter dining experience include a reservation to eat at the 'The Yurt' in the woods. This is a must for adults only, make your reservation when you book your stay.

About Steven and Kathy

We are both southern California natives. We have lived in southern Florida for over 35 years. We are now retired and enjoy life. We love Solitude Mountain Resort for just that, the solitude of the location. Spring/Summer/Fall hiking and, of course, the exceptional Winter skiing without lift lines.

Steven and Kathy purchased this condo in 1999

Why Steven and Kathy chose Solitude

We are original owners in the Powderhorn Lodge at Solitude Mountain Resort. We made the decison to buy here for many reasons, but among the top few are the ease of access with the SLC airport and the short drive to Solitude, no lift lines, fabulous skiing, great snow, great hiking, great mountain biking, and at the top of the list the peaceful solitude when compared to the stress of normal work and city life.

What makes this condo unique

Solitude is a resort for skiers, hikers and mountain bikers. There is very little noise and no distractions at night. Come to ski, hike or mountain bike, not for night life. We have supplied our condo to make eating-in easy to do. Enjoy the no lift line skiing, daytime hiking or biking and then the peaceful evenings with your CDs, DVDs or enjoy watching the HD DirecTV channels.

Solitude Heaven

  • 5 of 5

Wow! It's everything as described and more. From the initial contact with the owners, to their follow-up with all the information a visitor to Solitude could want or need, Kathy and Steve went above and beyond to make our stay pleasureable. The condo was clean, crisp, well maintained and a pleasure to come home to after epic days on the slopes. Ski lockers are convenient, underground parking is a blessing, and check-in was easy, friendly and welcoming. Solitude is a joy and so is this condo and its owners. Disciminating travelers will be pleased - this is a rental not to be missed!

Owner's Response: This is the way we feel about our "Mountain Home." We decorated and supplied our condo for our and your convenience. We love to cook-in and just relax with the music. We thank Cheryl and John for their comments. We have a relationship with Solitude Mountain Resort to issue the keys for our condo and handle any concerns that may come up during your rental. The condos that rent with lock-boxes in the lobby have no back-up to handle lost keys or other problems. Solitude is a great destination for skiers. Great snow and no lift lines.

What a great condo in a great location. We cooked in for most meals and found everything we needed to make cooking easy. The two rooms with king beds is ideal. Outdoor pool was a must. If I go back to Solitude, same condo for sure!!

Perfect Ski Vaca

  • 5 of 5

The Condo was great. Very comfortable with all accessories that are needed. Underground parking and easy ski locker storage conveniently located. Access to the slopes was just steps away and the skiing was beautiful, "They don't call it Solitude for nothing", no lift lines with wide open trails so that the mountain felt like your own. The owners were very gracious from the initial contact till the end, sending a complete welcome package that included everything you would need to know from the moment landing in Salt Lake City to all your travel and eating needs. The Condo/mountain is located an easy 30-45 min ride from the airport and the ride was easy. This is a fantastic vacation get away with all the comforts of home and at the end of a full ski day that is exactly what you need. Everyone in our ski party enjoyed it and would definitely come back and recommend to friends without hesitation.

Get Away - Solitude

  • 5 of 5

I took my wife, parents, and brother to Solitude for what turned out to be a fantastic trip. We've been skiing the "big" ski resorts in CO for the past few seasons and wanted to try something new. Solitude didn't disappoint and the condo made it even better. Solitude is so quite and peaceful with great terrain. The condo is pretty much ski-in ski-out. The condo had everything we needed, the garage was great, ski lockers were helpful, club solitude included, etc. We also skied Snowbird, Alta, and Brighton. When it was all said and done Solitude was the best.

Summary: Stay in this condo and ski Solitude. You will never want to leave!

Thanks Steve and Kathy!

Owner's Response: Austin and his family were great guests. They found that the showers had low flow hot water. We had the shower valves rebuilt after they departed. We like constructive comments from our guests. Our goal is to provide a great vacation experience in our condo.

Great Ski Condo

  • 5 of 5

This is our second year back to this unit and we love it and plan to return. Steve and Kathy are great to deal with and they respond immediately to any questions or concerns. Kathy's pre-visit information is wonderful and extremely helpful. The condo is clean, well appointed and the seating is accommodating and comfortable. The kitchen is well appointed and makes preparing meals a breeze. The beds are extremely comfortable. The underground parking and ski lockers add to the convenience of this unit.

Holmes Hideaway is Fantastic for Business, Too!!!

  • 5 of 5

My business partner and I needed to stay in the Sandy, UT area for business and we didn't want to stay in a typical hotel. The condo was beautifully appointed with very nice furnishings and comfortable beds. The rooms and bathrooms were very clean with fresh linens and towels. The kitchen has everything you need to cook all of your meals and save a little money. The balcony is nice for drinking your morning coffee or evening nightcap and looking at the beautiful views. Oh yah, and then there's the views! We were there for 2 weeks in October and Solitude and the Big Cottonwood Creek Valley is one of the most beautiful places on EARTH!! The hiking and mountain biking are second to none! We have the pictures to prove it. Thank you for accommodating us in our travels and we WILL be back every time we have business in Sandy.
