This private and cozy cabin is located on Barren River Lake with easy access to the water. The cabin offers privacy on a dead end road and adjoins the Baileys Point Recreation Area. It offers a public boat ramp nearby, which is less than a half mile away. The park that adjoins the property offers a well-groomed two mile hiking trail, perfect area for riding bikes, along with a playground and picnic area. There is a country store and a Dollar General store close by for any last minute necessities.
The cabin is set up as a single family unit ONLY with washer and dryer facilities in the basement. The top floor is the main living quarters with a large picture window over-looking the lake only a few feet away. There is a private open deck as well as a screened in deck which also overlooks the water. The open deck is equipped with a picnic table and deck seating for a full view of the breathtaking surroundings and lake.
The kitchen is very well laid out with all appliances in easy reach along with a bar and dining area. In season, October - March, wood is provided for the woodburning fireplace. There are (2) queen beds and (1) full size futon. Limit (6) guests.
We have owned and operated this property since 2002. We have had many quests over the years and look forward to more in the future. We are pleased to offer this property and hope you will enjoy it also as much as we have over the years.
Scott & Judy Bryson purchased this cabin in 2002
This property offers not only a quiet setting and beautiful views of the lake and surrounding areas, but is within easy access of water, hiking trails, boat ramp, and local amenities.
Many fishermen have enjoyed fishing tournaments and even fishing from the bank. They state that the location and lake access is primary. We as owners personally like it because of location, location, location.
If you are looking for peace & quiet and a beautiful cabin on the lake, look no further. Windy Cove is the best! My husband (age66) and myself (age58) take 4 or 5 "mini vacations" every summer. We rent from private owners and this place by far beats every place we have ever been. We spent our days on our pontoon and are evenings grilling out and then retired to the screened in deck and took in the beautiful view of the lake along with enjoying all the "night critters" chirping!
There is no dock for your boat, but plenty of trees to tie up to like we did
I just can't put into words how nice Windy Cove is, but trust me you fall in love with this cabin & surroundings. The owner met us there and he was so nice and helpful showing us around. Only two suggestions- a new set of steak knives and perhaps if possible to weed eat the path to make it a little wider.
Thank you Scott & Judy for giving us the best trip ever! We look forward to seeing you next year (if we can wait that long!)
We checked in for Memorial Day Weekend, my husband and I. This was my 2nd stay at the cabin, for my daughter and her friend and I stayed there for a weekend last July. Everything you need you will find at Windy Cove. It is clean, and decorated very cute. We used the grill nightly, and loved the screened in deck overlooking the lake. The only suggestion I would have would be to make the steps off the back porch wider. They are SO narrow and it makes you feel as if you are going to fall carrying things in and out. Other than that. we loved it and will stay again and again.
My business partner and I wanted to escape the office for 2 days to focus on one particular case. I found this cabin and booked it. The owners were extremely nice and easy to work with. The place was clean upon arrival. The space is much larger than it looks from the outside and the amenities are great for a lake house. We used the grill both days, baked in the oven, and kept a fire burning throughout our stay. Wood was provided by the owners.
The screened-in portion of the deck faces the water and was very enjoyable. If you are looking for a nice place to stay at the lake, look no further. This would be appropriate from everything from a family trip to just a couples trip. Very reasonable rates and great location!
P.S. In case the owner is reading this, the coffee pot has a crack in the bottom and was cracked when we arrived. :)
Family came here for a fishing tournament weekend. Cabin was great! Plenty of room for us, clean, and understand more improvements are coming soon! We enjoyed our stay. The steps to the back door by the driveway are a little steep. Not sure there is room to fix this, but it is hard for older people and with luggage! There is a ramp, but didn't see that in the dark when we arrived. Otherwise no complaints at all. Owners were great and willing to work with you on meeting to get into the cabin etc. The screened porch is nice as well. Thanks!
Just wanted to take the time to let everyone know what a great time we had everything was just beautiful this is a wonderful cottage with everything you need for a family gettaway the lake was lots of fun and the kids had a great time i would recommend this cottage to any family looking to get away from it all.
note: they could provide newer and more siverware and dishies, pots and pans
My family was looking for a nice rental property near the lake and the state park to spend the weekend while we attended the Glasgow Highland Games recently. We couldn't have found a nicer place than the Windy Cove cabin. The cabin looks directly onto the lake which is only a matter of yards down the hill to the water. The area is quiet and very scenic with a nice hiking trail nearby and just 10 minutes drive from the state park lodge. The cabin itself is nicely furnished and decorated with a colorful sportsman theme. We had a great time hiking, fishing, grilling out and sitting out on the fully screened deck watching the sunset over the lake in the evening. It was a wonderful family vacation. Thanks Scott and Judy!!
